Great speeds. Easy to install. Great price.
So far this NIC has been working great. It was easy to install and Windows 10 recognized it right away. Didnât even need to install drivers for it. Tested it with iPerf3 and got great speeds compared to 1Gb. Canât go wrong with the price. Ordered a second one for another computer.

Rock solid 2.5Gbe NIC, very affordable!
This is an excellent 2.5Gbe NIC, with a tried and true Realtek chipset. I have it installed in one of my desktop PC’s at home and I have had zero issues so far.Installation was a breeze and it was automatically picked up by windows, I did however find newer drivers on Realtek’s website so I would suggest that you take a look there as well. Speeds improved slightly (about 10Mbps) but it was within the margin of error. The price of this card is competitive with other NIC’s on the market so I would absolutely recommend it to others looking for a good, cheap 2.5Gbe NIC. One thing to note is that this NIC does not have a heatsink on the chipset but that has not affected performance in my usage, and the temperatures that it will see, even under heavy use, should be well below its max operating temp. (ambient temp 70C, junction temp 125C).

Works well in TrueNAS Scale
I installed this in an older X10SLL-F Supermicro motherboard running a TrueNAS Scale system. The NIC was immediately available and functioning as expected. This NIC gives me more bandwidth so I can get full performance out of my NAS where 10 gig would be overkill currently. The NIC coming with both full or half height brackets is nice depending on your use. My only complaint would be the not including a heatsink where it is clearly intended for one to exist. In my experience it’s better safe than sorry to not have some heat dissipation. I haven’t noticed any performance degradation yet in my limited testing though.

Good NIC card
Just have to make sure you have a compatible switch!

Slower than a regular gigabit card and does not come with a screw
Was hoping for more out of this card. First thing is it did not come with a screw to adhere it to the PC case so I had to dig around for one. Once connected I ran a speed test and it performed worse than the gigabit nic that is built into my motherboard.

Good for backup / troubleshooting of network ports
I’m in the middle of a weird small network problem. Two workstations can’t upload properly, while the rest of the workstations are fine. The usual network speed tests and Windows diagnostics show no issue. Browser cache dumping has no effect. Reducing browser sessions have no effect. Worst? Can’t reliably send email. Router / switch reset have no effect. This may not be a simple hardware problem, but I have seen scenarios when a bad network port causes weird results across an entire network.A product like this Alfa card gives you a way to swap out your built in network ports on a workstation and see if those ports are the cause. It’s inexpensive enough to stock as a spare.Works at up to 2.5G, but I only tested at my gigabit network.I would normally recommend Intel vs. Realtek chips for reasons for driver support, but that isn’t critical in most situations.

Worked out of the box on windows
I plan to use this in the future on a TrueNAS system. However I tested this out on my gaming PC and it worked out of the box. Unfortunately my house doesn’t have 2.5gbit connectivity at this point in time. Eventually I will update the house to 2.5gbit and then deploy this on my NAS. I did just want to test out the network adapter and see if it would out. This is so far the most affordable (at the time of writing) 2.5GBe adapter which can just be chucked straight into most desktop PC’s!

The adapter supports auto-negotiation feature!!
The adapter supports auto-negotiation feature which allows optimal selection of the best possible speed (2.5/1 GbE or 10/100 MbE) over Cat5e, Cat6 or better cabling. This is a great feature because it allows you to get the best speed possible without having to worry about manually configuring anything. The mounting bracket lined-up well in my pc for the 2.5 GbE PCIe Network Adapter Card with Realtek⢠RTL8125BG chipset. The card was recognized by my pc and I was able to connect to my network. I’m using Windows 10 and the card worked well. I’m happy with the purchase.
