2.5Gbase-T Pcie Network Card Intel Chip I226-V 2.5G PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Card Wired RJ45 LAN Adapter Converter
Intel I226-V is an Ethernet adapter that supports PCI Express 3.1 interface and has a 1GbE (Gigabit Ethernet) transmission speed. It is suitable for network application scenarios such as personal computers, servers, industrial computers, and embedded systems.
Intel I226-V retains the same board design compatibility as I225-V and utilizes the same driver code library.
But I226 has added some enhanced features, the most obvious of which are:
1. Improving Bit Error Rate (BER): achieving better packet performance, especially on the longest cable length;
2. I226 supports Jumbo Frame and Receiver Scaling (RSS) for large data packets, while I225 does not support it;
3. Reducing active power consumption: I225 Ethernet is designed for low power consumption, while I226 Ethernet is designed for the lowest power consumption; This adapter uses Intel’s latest technology, which has low power consumption and excellent performance, providing excellent network connectivity and data transfer speed, thereby achieving lower latency and improving network response speed. The product also supports caching protocols and virtualization technology, as well as better power optimization, and provides higher performance and lower power consumption, which can improve system efficiency and flexibility.
Note
1.Only supports Window 10 11,Windows Server 2012 and above versions,VMWAR ESXI 5x/6. x or higher,Linux system
2.This is an Intel chip product, not an Intel product
3.I225 and I226 share the same set of drivers
4.Must be used on Intel 6th generation and above CPUs;
5.Does not support AMD CPU computers
6.The advantages of Intel chips are that they can run at full speed, have good performance, but the disadvantage is compatibility. They can be used on Intel 6th generation and above CPUs;The advantage of RTL chips is good compatibility, but the disadvantage is that the speed is not satisfactory and the performance is worse.At present, some computers are not suitable for i226 chip network, and we must rely on Intel to continuously improve its chip and update its drivers.
Compatible slots:PCIE-16X/PCIE-8X/PCIE-4X/PCIE-1X
Network Standards:IEEE802.3ab, IEEE 802.3az, IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3bz
ACT:The indicator is flashing, the port is sending and receiving data
Indicator LNK:When the indicator is on, it indicates that the link is normal
PCIe network card speed
Different network card slots have different maximum transmission speeds.Running at full speed, slot type is also a necessary condition

Cheapest Intel 2.5Gb NIC
I needed a 2.5Gb NIC in my server, and this provided exactly that. This seems to be the cheapest 2.5Gb NIC with an Intel chip, so Iâll highly recommend purchasing this over any Realtek NIC.

Dead out of the box.
I am very disappointed. Dead on arrival. Installed it in 2 PC’s. One windows 11, other Linux, as well as my Truenas Dell server running the latest TrueNAS Scale. Card not detected by any of them. The SODOLA 2.5Gb PCIe Network Card I bought the same time worked extremely well in all of them.

Driver error on Windows 10 with a PCI2.0 computer.
I knew this might be a headache but wanted to go I226-V and this was the only option. Directions in Chinese although I knew where to get the Intel Ethernet Drivers however so not an issue. Tried this on an old P55 Gigabyte board with PCIe2.0, NIC detected as a PCI Device. Installed the NDIS68 1.1.4.42 drivers from Intel manually which did detect as a I226-V but Windows 10 Pro complained about the driver with the NIC showing an error. This is where our story gets strange, downloaded drivers from station-driver, same version and the driver worked! Looking at the files there are differences in the inf file and dates are earlier by a month if that.Now with it working, the next issue is that I’m only getting 1.1Gb/s speeds to my I225-V Z690 system connected to this card by two 2.5Gb switches with CAT8 & CAT7 cabling. Both NiC show negotiation at 2.5Gb in Windows and on Switch ports. The P55 System is SATA2.0 and I can copy a file between Seagate 18TB EXO and an SSD internally at 260MB/s but across the network I only get 126MB/s. Ordered a RealTek 8125B card to see if this will perform any better and help troubleshoot this issue.

Works well with FreeBSD 13
I use this guy on my home router, and itâs fantastic. Highly recommend it 🙂
