Be sure to read…it’s a switch, not a splitter.
I wasn’t sure what I needed when ordering and realized after I received the item that I needed something different. That said, my review is on the product and not my own mistake. Overall, the item is nice and compact and will fit into a small space. I have a cramped area where my home network and security devices are and this slipped right in. Also note that it requires power from an included USB cable. I found a USB port on one of my other devices and thought perhaps I could power it from there — worked! So don’t feel like you need to locate an outlet for this as you might find the same opportunity with your own devices. Nice LED lights let you know which switch is activated. This is also bi-directional so you can go from one network into two devices or you could have two different networks into a single device.

Solid Network Switch, Great Value!
This 2 Ports 2.5G/5G Gigabit Network Switch really delivers. It works well and lives up to its promise of smooth network switching between devices. I found it incredibly useful, especially when juggling multiple connections. The build quality seems sturdy, so I expect it to last. The design is sleek and looks nice on my desk, blending in seamlessly with other gadgets. Plus, it’s well-priced for the features it offers. The manual pushbutton is a neat touch, making it easy to switch without any hassle. Overall, itâs a solid product that does what it says on the box. Giving it 4 out of 5 stars because while it’s nearly perfect, there’s always room for a bit of improvement. But for anyone needing a reliable network switch, this is a fantastic choice.

Not what I expectedâ¦
In multiple places, this product is billed as a network switch. I think the sellers didnât use the proper terminology to describe what they were selling. This unit is a switch in much the same way as a KVM box is a switch. A network switch is âa multi-port network bridge that uses MAC addresses to forward data at the data link levelâ (from Wikipedia). This unit is not a network switch if you are using standard terminology. That said, it can be useful for some situations. For example, it could give a mechanism to swap between to systems for upgrade purposes. Not much utility for my needs. If you need to switch between using two computers or between two networks, this device would fit the bill without having to swap cables. It seems well made and is as simple to use as a KVM switch. I downgraded the stars on this device because it shouldnât have been sold as a network switch.

A or B Switch
This is truly an A or B 2.5Gb ethernet switch. It is not a switch in the sense of typical ethernet switches that allow all connected devices to communicate. This is a selectable A or B switch that allows two devices up to 2.5G to use a single connection by selecting one device at a time. It connects device A or it connects device B. It does not allow both devices to be connected at the same time. When one device is selected the other device will have no connection as if the cable has been unplugged from the device.Within this context the device does what it is advertised to do at the expected 2.5G speed.

Niche product that has some interesting uses.
I Set up two multifunction printers with the same IP and set them on the switch. From there I ran this to the network and set drivers on the computer I was testing on. Sending a job to printer A would go with no issue. Once I sent to printer B the job would hang of course, until I hit the network switch. Then it would reconnect to the network and receive the job. Might see how that would be useful if you have a color machine and a BW model. You keep the switch set to the BW and only switch over to color when needed. Most folks would never need this kind of functionality, but I’m sure if your looking for something like this you already have a reason.

Only one thru connection at a time
I originally thought this might be a tiny hub, allowing two connections where you have only one cable. But it’s not, you get to select which of two devices are connected to the other side. So, this would allow you to share a desktop connection with your laptop, but your desktop will be offline when it’s in use. It does seem to support 2.5G speeds but I wasn’t able to test the 5G speeds.

Works well, I did need power.
This worked well in mode 2 which is one ethernet in, split/switched to 2 ethernet out. I did need to supply power to which I was hoping I wouldn’t but that could have just been my particular application. The box is small, at maybe 2″ x 2″, which is great. at 30 bucks I almost feel like you might as well just buy a 5 port netgear for a few dollars more just in case you end up needing the extra ports down the road but for me and for what I needed to do this did the trick.I did have to supply a power brick as it came only with the device itself and the usb-c to usb cable so be aware that you may need a charging brick with a usb connection on it.

Not a dual port ethernet switch, a manual input switch
I ordered this thinking it was a USB powered 2 port ethernet switch – it is not. It is a manual switching ethernet dual port connector. This would be perfect for a VPN on/off situation, however you would need to manually switch between the two. The A and B ports cannot be active at the same time.
