Works with SmartThings
I bought this to a replace a broken motion sensor that was discontinued. Works well with our smart home system. Pretty easy to configure and set up a routine (ours uses motion to turn on lights and lack of motion to turn them off).

Fast and responsive
We keep this sensor about seven feet away from a Samsung SmartThings Station. It’s blocked by an exterior wall consisting of stucco, drywall, and insulation. The sensor is extremely responsive to slight motion. We love this motion sensor. The only thing we wish it had is the ability to adjust the detection distance.

Works with Hubitat, good motion detection
The main things I was looking for were Hubitat compatibility and good sensitivity. Both of those features are present. The description said magnetic mount which works well. It also comes with a self stick piece that includes a ball mount. Unfortunately, there is no way to screw mount. The worst thing is the lack of motion detection options. There is no way to adjust sensativity or motion clear delay and there is no motion detect light on the sensor. If this device was half the price it would make more sense that basic features like this were missing. For a few dollars more you can get a Zooz ZSE29 which has all the options you would expect as well as great documentation, which the Aeotec lacks. My mistake for trying to save a little money.

awesome sensor
good sensor even has a temperature sensor inside. Battery life might be a thing, but works well for my use case.

Fast and reliable. You get what you pay for 😉
After trying several Z-Wave based motion sensors in my Hubitat based setup, I switched to these and what a difference! Reliable, and most important FAST motion detection beats all competitors that I tested.I am using them in the stairway to downstairs (no need to switch on the lights, just open the door – really cool when you got your hands full) and in the downstairs storage area. They detect motion to about 30 feet (in my setup), batteries last longer than a year.I would buy these again any time and highly recommend these over any other brand. Yes, quite expensive, but very well worth the additional cost.

Tried many sensors, this one gets my 5 stars
I’ve traditionally used the Samsung SmartThings sensors and let me tell you, they are battery hogs. Thus, you can’t mount these sensors anywhere that is hard to reach (because you are replacing batteries so often!).This Aeotec sensor paired immediately with my Hubitat automation hub and battery level reports are still at 100%. The sensor is in my attic (collecting metrics before attic fans are installed to see the difference), so I consider that severe service (temperatures above 100f). Added bonus that motion will watch for any uninvited critters roaming around the attic. This sensor can report changes in +/- 0.2 point increments. I reduced the reporting period (via the hub) to help conserve power. I have since purchased another and intend to swap out all of my sensors with this one. Even though these are not recommended for outdoor use, I intend to put one on my porch (in an area that does not have direct exposure to weather) and see how it fairs.

Out of all the motion sensors for ST, this is the best by far
Iâve wasted money on countless zwave-based motion sensors (Monoprice, Zooz which is the worst by far) for ST hub but this zigbee version is the best by far. This Aeotec is actually a re-branded Samsung since Sammybdecided to get out of the hardware game.1. Itâs easily paired to ST2. The motion sensor is practically 100% reliable whether used with the ST app or WebCORE.3. Itâs quick and responsive3. It also has a built-in temp sensorNothing bad to say about it at all and thatâs unusual for a smart motion sensor. You wonât be disappointed.
