The magnetic mount installed easily
First, the rating stars are goofy. “Suction”? These mounts don’t use suction. The J-hook was just barely long enough to get over the center louvers in my Honda Element but with a little jiggling fit. When I tightened it the first time, the louvers were directing the airflow above my head and to the passenger side. The tightened Mongoora mount locked the louvers in place, preventing up/down or side to side adjustment.I loosened the knob and directed the airflow where I wanted it to be. The wide hook required the louvers to be moved slightly toward the passenger side, and slightly upward. I carefully tightened the mount, concerned that the canted louvers might break, but they didn’t.I was able to adjust the phone almost vertically and angle it horizontally about 20 degrees toward me. This was a big improvement over the two previous mounts I tried. One, a clamp-on mount, held my phone solidly but tight to the grille, in an non-adjustable position where the sun reflected off its face. The other, a hook-on unit was as solid as the Mongoora, but bulky, with a cradle that blocked the front of the radio, sagged against its face. Both these blocked the airflow so much that I had to direct the HVAC air to the floor, set the fan on high and rely on the side vent by the window to heat and cool my torso, while my legs were too warm or cool.Tested in my driveway, this mount is solid. It lets me see the phone face sheltered from the sun, and about half the air from the driver-side center vent reaches my face and chest.Having read some negative comments about the mount not holding up under heat, the test will be in two weeks when I drive to the south. The mount will either work or I’ll be making a warranty claim using the information packed with the mount. If it holds up for me, it should be OK for most on-road drivers east of the Mississippi. When I return in mid-July I will update this review, and again at the end of the 3 month warranty.Btw: The customer service address does work: support.mongoora.comI could be wrong, but I don’t think the hook or bracket is the most likely cause of a phone falling from this mount. Its materials are ones that held up well on previous mounts holding 7″ tablets in cases. It would take a temperature in a parked car being high enough for the plastics to flow, which would also damage other parts of the car’s interior. I’m thinking the weak links are the adhesive bond to the phone or its case, and the slipperiness surface held against the magnet.I have had magnetic keepers detach from phones and tablets when I didn’t first clean the devices surfaces well with isopropyl alcohol. The one on my silicone gel case has been on it solidly for almost a year. (The previous one I installed inside a rigid case. ) Silicone gel resists sticking to anything with any oil on it and requires a gummy adhesive that doesn’t dry out -or RTV silicone adhesive. I had to use the latter to mount a metal hook on a case for a $5000 insulin pump. (It’s permanent, works too well to use on a device’s bare back.)The directions for how to place the magnetic keeper are vague and potentially misleading. The text describes mounting a plate to the phone back using the POE film, but the illustration seems to show using both plates with a case. Some people are creatively using one plate inside a phone case.I decided to put it to a test. The magnets are described as capable of supporting a 0.9 lb load.I tested it with a 7″ tablet in a thin-backed case whose combined weight was less than that. With a rectangular plate inside the case as if it were attached to the tablet back, the tablet slid off when I made a sharp turn at 30 mph. With the disc plate only the outside of the case, the tablet stayed in place. Then I put the case with the round plate on its back on the mount, and without the tablet, laid the rectangular plate inside the case. I could easily remove the rectangular place. The round plate was shunting most of the magnetic field. My conclusion is the illustration shows two alternatives. Either attach a plate to the phone back or attach a plate to outside of thep ohne case. The magnets are strong, and mounting a plate to the inside back of a phone case may work, but reliability is uncertain for larger devices with thicker cases.

Great vent holder
I have no problem with a vent holder that slightly occludes the vent stream but doesn’t stop it. This does that and the gravity drop in makes it easy to use. I never leave my phonein the car when I stop, even a quick rest stop. So puling it out and replacing it is key, and this mount allows that with flexible set uo and viewing, Best I’ve ever had!

I really like this
I travel a lot in states that are hands free and this cell phone holder is really helpful. Fits on the vent without blocking a ton of the A/C, and holds the phone securely. I have not had any issues with this product and I highly recommend it.

A must for various reasons…
I can’t live without a car phone holder and this one works great. It hooks to the air vents so no gluing anything to the dashboard, etc.

Not too happy, and their warranty is bogus (canât contact them)
Fairly disappointed with this; although, not sure if I am expecting too much from something that is less than $15.First of all, installation onto the air vent is fairly simple, but I own an iphone 12 pro max, so the phone was too heavy for the mount alone. I put the supplied metal magnetic plate onto the back of my phone as instructed, but the adhesive is not strong enough and would rip off of the back of my phone when I tried to pull my phone off the mount. I eventually settled with putting a strip of wide packing tape on the back of my phone to hold the plate, which did help. At that point, I settled for what it was, untilâ¦.After a long, hot, Texas summer, the hook on the mount began to bend from the heat stress, and no longer grabs onto my air vent properly. At that point, I tried to contact their customer service department to make use of my â36 monthâ warranty, only to find that the support email provided returned as an invalid email address. I tried looking up additional contact information on their website, but found that it referenced the same bad email. I donât typically write reviews, but at that point, I decided to write my 1 star review. Maybe Iâm being harsh for a less than $15 phone accessory, but if you are a company which markets a product with some sort of warranty, they should at least hold up that end of their commitment.

Worked great for a little over a year
This worked really good for just over a year. It just broke in me a couple weeks ago. Otherwise it held my phone and was simple to use and was strong.

PERFECT!
Once you figure out how to screw it into the vent and tighten it……it works great!

The absolute best customer service!
I had purchased two of these a little over three months ago and my husband and I have been using them without issue. Then one of the sides of mine started âstickingâ and wouldnât retract back to press against the phone when you pressed the button. I was using it a little while this way anyway, but when I turned the phone horizontally to the left, the phone would come out. Because of this, I ended up deciding to get rid of it. Thatâs when I saw stamped on the product that there was a 24 month guarantee. I decided to write the support email as a last effort before getting rid of it because I really liked the product. They got back to me at lightning speed and once I described my issue and sent the above photo, they got back to me again that I was eligible for a free replacement to be shipped. This was one of the best customer service experiences Iâve ever had! I highly recommend doing business with them – great company that sticks by their product!

This is pretty expensive – but is the best I have been able to find. I had to replace the original I purchased about 3 years ago as it fell apart from constant use.

… and does it rather well (as far as it can be told based on relatively recent experience with it). A big difference for me to be able to observe the road map while driving. Seems solidly affixed onto the aircon grills, although there is minor vibration when on an uneven road. This was my third attempt to purchase a smart phone holder, and I am pretty pleased with this one.
