The K72 Bundle from AKG is a closed-back and over-the-ear studio headphone that features professional-grade 40mm drivers and a self-adjusting headband that is light and comfortable. It can be used with a broad range of playback devices in applications for rehearsals, recording studios, live stages, and more. The K72 headphones are built with a single-sided non-detachable 1/8″ TRS 9.8′ cable and include a 1/4″ screw-on adapter. The frequency response is 16 Hz to 20 kHz and provides an accurate monitoring solution, which delivers extended low-frequency that gives definition to kick drums and bass guitars. Furthermore, since earpads are usually the first components to show wear, these are replaceable to protect your investment over time. Finally, whether you’re tracking the hook or mixing background harmonies, the K72 is designed to provide hours of comfort. The 40mm drivers deliver high sensitivity for a powerful output, plus an extended frequency response that reveals every detail. The K72s also feature a low-impedance design for compatibility with a broad range of playback devices, from professional studio gear to portable music players. The K72 headphones’ closed-back design eliminates audio leakage and delivers sound to your ears only. It comes with a Headphone Holder with Padded Cradle and Adjustable Angle attaches to either a horizontal or vertical surface in order to support one full-sized pair of headphones. The holder has three settings for attaching to surfaces up to 1.3″ / 3.3cm in thickness as well as a threaded securing clamp to ensure a precise fit.

Great for Gaming
I only use this a few hours a day for gaming, but they are very light weight, very comfortable to wear and the sound is good for gaming. To me the dialogue and words are very important when gaming so the bass being in the mid level range is perfect. I ordered an amp to use with these but I don’t even need it.

Very good, but…
I will echo another review here. I bought these primarily for streaming video and such on my tablet, and for that these are very, very good. Curiosity got me and I tried to use them for just music listening and….the mids are just… terrible. So much so, I would junk these. But for streaming video, spoken word, etc. this is a very good purchase, and one I gladly recommend. And they are very comfortable.

Very good quality headphones for the money
Very good quality headphones for the money. I had some for about $10-15 less that I’d been using for several years. These feel and sound amazing. I know there are better ones out there with more features but the sound quality is great for my needs.

Not great for recording
These were fairly disappointing to me (although I’ll add a caveat to that later). The sound that comes out of these is bottom-heavy and woofy. They do okay when it comes to not bleeding out, but I find it very difficult to sing when wearing them; my voice has lost all of its brightness. In addition to not hearing myself WELL, I don’t feel confident because I don’t sound GOOD to myself. These were replacement for a pair of nice SHURE headphones that broke. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money this time around, so I went for cheap. I figured since they were AKG, they would be decent, even if they were one of their low-end products. So the caveat is, you get what you pay for, and if you don’t want to spring for more expensive headphones, these may very well be the best you’ll get in this price range.I’m using them for now, and eventually I’ll spring for another nice set of headphones, and then these will be demoted to use just for the kids when they want to record, and hopefully the more expensive phones will therefore last longer!

I purchased these used. The condition was described as “Like New”. When they arrived, the box was cut to pieces and the left ear-pad was damaged. I pieced it together well enough to give them a try, as I was curious if they were worth investing in a new pair after returning the used pair. I was immediately taken aback with how bad they sounded. They certainly did not live up the reviews that I was able to find online. The sound was hollow with no definition and no bass. Certain mid-to-high frequencies were boosted, giving it a very unnatural sound and causing jumbled, distorted sound at almost any reasonable volume. I don’t understand how anyone could use these headphones for any type of tracking, mixing or recreational listening.

I was looking for a pair of budget headphones for my missis to replace a pair of Sony’s I gave her that she’d broken. We’ve been through a few options before we settled for these, due to the following reasons:First off – they are very light and comfortable to wear. She definitely prefers them over stealing my Audio Technica’s M50x, so that’s a bonus for me :)I’ve tried them on myself and that’s absolutely the case – you can almost forget you’re wearing them, which is great. One thing to note here is that the headband is not adjustable, but it sort of kind of somewhat (you get the idea) stretches/floats into the position as-needed, and thus fit both my and my woman’s heads just fine. You’re unlikely to have sizing issues, but keep this in mind if you have an unusually large or small head, of if your ears happen to be somewhat higher/lower than usual. The sound quality isn’t quite up to scratch with my M50x’s, according to my own ears, but then again we’re talking a 4-5x difference in price, so that’s to be expected. Are they 4-5x worse? Absolutely not! They’re actually very good headphones for the price, especially after burning them in (but they sound good out-of-the-box too, in case you’re one of those people who don’t believe in dynamic deiver burn-in). My woman likes them very much, so that’s all subjective, as with most things, especially considering that I fiddle with audio equipment and get annoyed by flaws that she doesn’t even notice. The cable is non-detachable, so you will either have to bin these cans or try to repair them if you mess the cable up. And, of course, you don’t get the option to swap cables for different lengths or get a coiled cable. Those are some of the reasons why I like having more expensive headphones, but not everyone cares about these things, of course. If you’re environmentally-conscious and prefer less disposable things – consider a pair where you can swap the cable, as it’s usually the weak link in these things. My missis has had these for a few months now and so far she’s very happy with them. I’ll try to update this review if/when something breaks, as I do also personally like it when people share common faults with products, so others know what to expect and avoid.Overall, I definitely recommend these cans over other products in the same price range. We’ve been through a few options before we settled for these, due to their great sound quality and a very comfortable fit.
