Remarkable
For years, I have told myself to not buy (anymore of) the bleeding edge technology gadgets. The AWOL LTV 3000 Pro falls into the bleeding edge category, but I still purchased one anyway. I did this after checking a bunch of YouTube reviews of the AWOL LTV Pro series. Generally, the reviews left me a sense of lacking (as with other projector reviews). Pays your money, takes your chances.Upon powering up the LTV 3000, my initial reaction was abruptly favorable. The projected video on a cream colored wall was very good. I recently added a 100 inch ALR screen which made the picture even better.Accuracy, focus, color aberrations, contrasts are wonderful. Fonts were remarkable. Color rendition is outstanding (either from streaming or from a Panasonic Blu Ray player). Of course, a darken the room helps.Out of the box, the internal speakers were dreadful sounding. Finding the equalization and tone controls on the remote mostly solved the situation (adjusting to boost the high frequencies). Normally, I use the optical digital audio output to my HiFi system so these adjustments are not relevant. There are 3 HDMI ports available. One is sort of dedicated to a streaming stick which can be hidden in a recessed area in the back of the unit. A cover is provided to hide the stick and local wires. A Firestick seems to work fine, Roku needs to have its WiFi long range wire extended. It would have been nice if AWOL provided some holes thru the cover for wire access. There are 2 USB ports, however I have not used or tested them. There is also a video component input. I do miss not having an over the air TV tuner. The HDMI ports all work fine, both with streaming and Blu Ray players. Just as you should expect from modern HDMI systems. The video component input presented to me an opportunity for a time warp to the past. My Super Beta HiFi worked great as a video source. Picture was good. Sound was good too. However the 4:3 aspect ratio was not preserved (stretched to 16:9). Naturally the old 350 line resolution was not improved. (Note: one can buy elsewhere a converter box that preserves the 4:3.)Most of my viewing has been streaming HD content, no problems, good job here. I had some difficulties with UHD 4K. Either or both the Panasonic DP-UB820 Blu Ray player and the LTV 3000 doesnât like something. I ended up switching the LTV 3000 inputs while restarting the disc in the player. Problem sometimes occurred just as the user selects âPlayâ on the discâs intro screen. Otherwise the UHD display looks fine. I havenât tried out any of the Dolby options.3D worked great (using AWOL glasses). But the 3D requires a manual selection on the LTV 3000. The 3D display initially starts up with a double image, one on top of the other until the LTV 3000 gets into it true 3D mode. The main issue for me is that the LTV 3000 automatically exits the 3D mode whereas manual intervention is required to start the 3D mode. A typical 3D disc jumps between 2D and 3D during the intro phase of the disc. (My 12 year old Sharp LCD TV automatically detects 3D and activates same.) 3D performance is quite good, A darken room helps the experience. The things listed above are what can be seen as the pluses. Only one issue needs to be stated. The LTV 3000 has a variable speed cooling fan. Things are quiet at first. Usually as the video proceeds, the fan speeds up (noticeable fan noise is still acceptable). After an hour and half of 4K UHD, the fan seems loud. All in all, if you able to spend the large amount of money, the AWOL LTV 3000 Pro is a buy. Just donât forget that you can but a couple of 75 inch high end large flat screen TVs for the same amount of money or less than the LTV 3000.

This is a beast of a machine
The Pros – this is the best projector ever! The laser is bright and the colors are insane. It truly has 4k to 8k resolution and the contrast is almost OLED quality. Having 3 HDMI and one of them being an ARC makes a great and easy connection to your home theatre system. It truly feels like being in your own personal theatre. The only setback I have is it is hard to center the picture on the screen –You need a lot of patience.

Great Projector
Works well with a 7.2 pioneer surround system. Clear bright colors with Roku, Xfinity, and a Samsung blue ray 3d disk player.I have had the projector for enough time to tell you that it works great and AWOL have contacted me by email to make sure I am satisfied. You can’t go wrong in my opinion.

Awesome UST
I absolutely love this projector. Using the 110â Akia ISF 1.3 gain screen. Preset settings are not great but using calibrated settings from AVS forum makes this projector absolutely stunning. Works so good for HDR, SDR, and Dolby Vision. After getting the picture calibrated many people in the know are saying it provides an image that is up there with the best projectors as any price range. I have mine calibrated to match OLED TV settings and the image just pops so good. With these settings it still looks great even when window shades are open or lights are on. In a pitch dark or near pitch dark setting the image is next level stunning and just sucks you in. 3D is amazing also.

Mindblowing.
Having tried out my LTV-3000 Pro for almost a week, I was impressed with its build quality and how bright it can get. Set up is way less laborious than I expected, and it works perfectly well in my living room even in the morning when the curtains are left open. At least for me I can’t discern any “rainbow effect” when watching soccer and action movies. And those Dolby speakers are LOUD. I know this machine has 3D function for certain blue-rays but I haven’t tried it yet. My next step is to get one of their foldable ALR screens. All in all, its a great piece of technology. 10/10.

WOW, AMAZING picture. HUGE upgrade over 1080p projector
This replaced an Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 8350 1080p Projector and old/cheap 90″ screen (replaced with AWOL 100″ ALR screen). It’s in the basement which has a few windows but is very light controlled and this thing is BRIGHT! And the picture is AMAZING. Everything is so clear. It’s currently sitting on top of my original AV furniture which is too tall, so I’m not getting the full 100″ image, but it’s centered and perfect for now. If I’m able to modify the current furniture or build something new, I’ll dial it in 100% to fit the frame at another time. I’ve watched my first ever 3D movie (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1) and it’s really neat. I don’t think I’d want to always watch things in 3D but it’s cool once in a while. My center channel speaker is sitting directly in front of the projector which is blocking the IR port on the projector. I bought a cheap IR extender and that fixed the problem instantly. I registered my projector with AWOL and was eventually contacted by support out of the blue to see how things were going. Joel was VERY helpful as I had a few questions about things and he answered everything immediately. I’m VERY happy with this purchase, and the support I’ve received. It was a BIG purchase for me financially but it was worth every penny. If you’re on the fence and reading this, just buy it.

Bad QA
Immediately returned. It was unusable due to the input ports all being blocked due. If such an obvious thing is poorly done, I wouldn’t expect the rest of the unit to be much better.

This projector is awesome for home entertainment and would be a great choice for those with large AND small viewing spaces since you can just move it closer to get a smaller size but I will touch on the smaller size.It delivers clear visuals with crisp detail and great colors. I was blown away that I could see it just as easily in the day as I could with a normal tv without an optional screen. It is very quiet during operation, no annoying fan noise disruptions that you have to raise the volume to cover over.Speaking of volume, it has great sound quality. Very rich which I did not expect out of that at all.As someone who already has a projector, I expected it to be a lot smaller, so I was surprised with the size. It is not small compared to some projectors you can get, but it is pretty compact for what it provides in options and picture quality. It is a pretty sleek design and looks good on the TV stand. I have set it up to try it as an extra pc monitor to look at market charts and also to play movies from my PC.It is fast starting up with no wasted time for the device to initialize and the included remote enhances the overall experience with its fast navigation through menus and settings. While this unit is awesome, given the cost of the unit, it not be the best choice for smaller spaces where a smaller, traditional 4K TV would be more practical, I would say it would be best for very large areas. I myself right now have a smaller space due to renovations and I couldn’t use it to its full size yet, and used it closer to the wall that I still have to do over that is pink and has brush strokes, nails, uneven plaster, etc., and it still looked great. I probably would go for this over a tv if it did fit my budget as then I can move it to wherever I want and watch it on the ceiling in bed or on the couch.I do have 3D glasses since I do have a 3D TV, but I cannot find my glasses since the move so I couldn’t test those to see if they were compatible or to see what the 3D is like.I didn’t expect it to come with a 4K Amazon Fire stick so that was pretty awesome to have included.I have included a still image and a video (removed the sound incase of copyright). There may be flickers but it is the series Fallout which is supposed to look that way and look awesome on it. Keep in mind it is on a pink wall I also have it close to the wall here. I may in the future get their screen to pair with it but I am good even without it.It is a luxury projector is great for those with spacious settings, with great performance, colour and brightness. It’s expensive but as a projector, I recommend it but I do think even with its amazing performance, it is still a bit pricy.

AWOL VISION LTV-3000 Pro 4K 3D Ultra Short Throw Triple Laser ProjectorPros- One stop shopping, comes with streaming stick, and has built in speakers- Laser. Lasers offer some of the brightest images available. On the default brightness it actually strained my eyes on some scenes, itâs that bright. And they last a very long time, which is good, because they cost too much to replace.- Good black levels for a projector, but still not as good as much cheaper OLED TVs. It wasnât as good on dark scenes as I had hoped. So for example, people wandering through a cave with torches. Overall the scene was quite dark and I struggled to see details. The torches should have been bright given the HDR10 support (for the init and in the feed) but it wasnât.- Comes with a 4K Fire Stick. Iâve been using one for years. I think itâs great. But that is a separate review.- Supports 3D. But sadly the support for 3D media nowadays is terrible. For example Netflix only has a few movies and even then itâs only available in the USA.- Auto off to prevent you from blinding yourself if you are too close to the lens.- Built in WiFi- Reasonable amount of inputsCons- Setup is a bit of a mixed bag. To optimize the picture placement and size the unit must be placed in exactly the right position. Youâll need to get it just the right height, my cabinet was too high. To do it right you would need something custom, with an opening in the cabinet to keep the unit low enough. You also need to have the unit the right distance from the wall. I want a 130â screen to fit my screen but despite being an ultra short throw, it would need to be a lot further from the wall than most cabinets would allow. Iâm used to my ceiling projector that has an optical zoom lens and motors to tilt the lens for the perfect fit.Note: There are some software adjustments you can make to tweak things but the physical placement is key.- The built-in sound is nice to have but Iâd think anyone spending over $5k on a projector is going to want something much better. There might be an argument for it if it were more portable, but it is big, heavy and expensive enough that I wouldnât be carting it around.- no display port, if you intend to hook this up to you gaming PC (like I did)There are some really good reviews that you can Google. Iâve summarized a few points above based on my experience so far.

My first impression was simply how huge this projector is. It’s fully 24″ wide, 14″ deep, and 6″ tall, which I hadn’t realized from the pictures of it. Make sure you have room! Being an ultra short throw device, the unit will be placed quite close to the wall (typically about 10 inches, depending).PROs:*The brightness and colour quality is great, although on a bright day you might have to draw some blinds, as I did.*It comes with its own built-in speakers, which are decent, although they do give you an optical port so you can connect your sound bar, too.*The unit runs very quietly.*There’s a full range of colour adjustment options, which is particularly helpful if you’re projecting on anything other than a white surface. The adjustments would all be manual, but with some work you could find the optimal settings for your situation.*Although it’s not promoted, connecting the device to my wired home network *did* allow me to play 4K movies from my network attached storage device. In fact, it handled a very current video codec format and streamed perfectly. There’s a con to this, though (see below).*A safety feature is included to stop projecting if the unit notices that you’re too close to the laser paths.CONs:[Some of the below “cons” are related to my specific use-case, and so I’m not penalizing my star-rating for them, but it might be important info for you to understand if you’re hoping to replace your smart TV with this unit. As a straight projector, it’s great, though.]Unexpectedly, the unit comes with an Amazon Firestick. I was initially excited about this, but it quickly became a hassle, for a few reasons. They’re really leaning on this aspect, down to the fact that the AWOL has a customized compartment specifically configured to house the Firestick & provide it power, and I realize now that this was all done to offset the choice they made NOT to include the obvious Android operating system right on the unit itself which would have allowed the ability to add apps like Plex, Netflix, & Prime natively. This matters because Firesticks are Wifi-only devices – So you immediately lose the benefit of your wired network for streaming, even if the AWOL is actively plugged into it. So, although as mentioned above I *can* play network-stored videos over a wired connection directly, you have to choose between doing so via a separate, clunky interface, or settle for using the wireless Firestick apps, which are limited by how strong your wifi is. There is no option for adding to the AWOL’s onboard apps. Given the otherwise excellent caliber of this device, this aspect was surprising and somewhat disappointing, as it would have been an easy value-add for them to include.Still, as a projector, the unit is great. So 4 stars, for sure.

This is a pretty amazing UST laser projector. This replaces a little cheapo $100 unit we’ve been using in the bedroom for a 90″ big screen that we watch from about 10 feet away in bed. Comparing the two is like night and day. Literally, this projector is like daylight when a light colored screen comes on! It’s so bright it will make you wince. I have the laser turned all the way down a lot of time even, and I’ve calibrated it the best I can by eye with patterns. So the brightness is definitely tamed compared to out of the box settings, and yetqq it still has just incredible brightness. I’m projecting onto a while wall but all the light reflections have me considering a UST screen now… along with some dark paint! We already have blacked out windows and curtains so that helps. But one can (and absolutely should) get an ambient light rejecting screen to put this in a more brightly lit environment.Either way this projector is at least on par with my OLED in terms of color reproduction when dialed in; it has a major blue and red tint out of the box but once tweaked looks incredible. Then it far exceeds my OLED in terms of brightness and screen size (65″ vs 90″+, I would go bigger if I had the room, literally). The only area it can’t come close in is blacks. But that’s the nature of projection. With a proper UST screen with some grey to it it should darken the blacks and increase contrast. I’m looking into DIY or used options as those screens can come close to a whole TV in cost…As for the downsides, the remote is a bit of a bummer. It has no backlight, but I tend to memorize buttons easily so it doesn’t bother me so much. What I find worse is that yes it can control the proj and the firestick it comes with, which is nice, but it can’t control any other equipment. So then you think, ok, I can set up the Firestick remote to control everything (like I had with my previous proj), but the Firestick remote can’t control this projector! Which is crazy, there are thousands of devices on the Firestick control list, including my cheap projector. How is this one not on there, especially given that they pack a Firestick in with the projector! Maybe it’s an Amazon issue, I don’t know. But if I were AWOLvision I would be getting my name on the list of devices it can control. So I’m still stuck with two remotes. Not ideal. My gf is tech adverse too so having one remote was a boon. This is like a step backwards. It also seems that the remote has trouble reaching rhe device. I have to point mine straight up at the ceiling to get it to register inputs. It might be because it’s in a drawer, I think because the sensor is somewhere along the bottom edge, which is kind of bizarre. The other nitpick is that there is some screen overshoot. I’m not sure if that’s normal for USTs or not. But there is a light grey border about an inch or two bigger than the picture itself all the way around. Which means you need a velvet covered frame to soak up the excess light (ideally). Unfortunately most UST screens have really thin/small frames. So this is a little frustrating. But not a deal breaker in the scheme of things really.Other than that it is pretty huge and is finicky about placement, but that comes with the territory. If you can make it work in your space, the light and quality of picture that this puts out will render all the nitpicks pretty much moot! Just highly recommend investing in a screen if possible.

This is an outstanding projector that hits all the important points: brightness, colour, clarity, features. If you’re looking for a UST projector that can replace your TV for daytime viewing, this AWOL Vision LTV-3000 Pro is definitely up to the task. If that’s your intent then you’ll need to pair it up with a nice ambient light rejecting screen (which can be quite pricey on it’s own) to get the most out of it.First impressions out of the box are that this is one serious piece of kit. The main cover comes in a nice matte black finish and is flanked by a piano black glossy perimeter. I personally hate anything in a glossy black finish due to it being a fingerprint magnet, but having it only on the sides on something you’ll barely be touching anyway, is ok in my book. The projector itself is quite large and you’ll definitely need to take some serious time planning the layout of your home theatre setup in order to accommodate it, especially if you want to get the best picture quality possible. Creating a perfect frame on your screen can be a significant challenge with these UST projectors given their extremely tight throw angles. You’ll also want to avoid using keystone correction as much as possible as that can also lead to image quality degradation.Firing up the projector for the first time was literally eye-opening. The brightness is absolutely fantastic and the colour reproduction and clarity out of the box are also very impressive. The menu system is refreshingly clean, simple and easy to use. Instead of putting resources into a “Smart TV” OS that usually ends up clunky and outdated, AWOL Vision stuck to the basics and decided to offload the Smart/Multimedia functions to a proven product by including an Amazon FireTV Stick 4K Max right in the box. There’s even a little nook on the projector itself that you can tuck the Fire Stick into. You can set the projector to automatically boot into this HDMI input when powering on for a completely seamless integration. Of course you can go with another solution altogether as well, the important thing is that you have that flexibility here.Back to the picture quality, again, the brightness and colours produced are fantastic. Providing you have the right kind of screen, you can easily use this projector in a room that gets a lot of ambient light with no issues whatsoever. The output seriously is comparable to a TV. This projector also has an incredibly wide colour gamut and viewing HDR/Dolby Vision content is fantastic–the picture truly comes alive. Contrast ratios are respectable, but you definitely won’t be getting the inky blacks of an OLED TV. Still, the “Enhanced Black Level” option does a great job and the picture is so vivid and sharp that I’m perfectly satisfied. One thing that I was truly excited for was the ability to play 3D content with this projector. I’ve always been a fan of 3D and feel that the technology was cast aside way too quickly. I wasn’t able to watch the Avatar sequel in theatres and thought I wouldn’t be able to ever watch it in 3D as it was intended, but thankfully that’s not the case any longer. The 3D performance on this projector is great with a good balance of color and contrast. Because this uses active 3D glasses (that you’ll need to purchase separately), the image will be darker, but the projector does such a great job that it’s honestly not very noticeable. The only annoying thing is that the projector doesn’t automatically detect that 3D content is being displayed and you’ll have to turn it on via the menu every single time. This projector is absolutely fantastic and I could go on and on (I haven’t even touched on the true 24Hz output and low input lag). I can recommend this with no hesitation whatsoever (as long as you’re willing to buy a proper screen to go along with it).
