✔ Connect using SSH and set up WireGuard, OpenVPN and IPsec VPN with IKEv2
✔ Configure VPN clients on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS

In the digital age, cyber security and privacy are more important than ever. Using a virtual private network (VPN) can help improve your cybersecurity and privacy by encrypting your network traffic, so that your data is protected as it travels via the Internet. This is especially useful when using unsecured Wi-Fi networks, such as at coffee shops, airports or in hotel rooms.
Creating your own VPN server has become easier than ever, thanks to advances in technology such as affordable cloud servers and reduced bandwidth costs. Self-hosted VPNs can be considerably cheaper than commercial ones and offer several advantages. The VPN setup process can be fully automated and as simplified as possible. This book will help you build your own VPN server in the cloud or on a Raspberry Pi in just a few minutes.

Used his script (found online) to create my own Wireguard VPN server at home, it works!
I was googling around until I found Dr Song’s script on github, and well, it worked! Tested the result with my Android (Plus Wireguard app), then with a GL.Inet mini router, and so far it works. This Wireguard VPN service sits in a virtual machine inside a Linux server (Ubuntu). Just make sure your virtual machine is set to a bridged network, so it can “see” the other local machines in your main network segment as if it were in the same network. The script figures it out the outside (ISP) IP, and as long as you map via NAT the outside port to the inside IP/port, you’re good to go. Save anywhere from $5/mo to $10/mo on VPN service provider costs. With the GL.inet mini-router as main mobile hub for my phones/laptop, I plan to use my new home VPN to connect to a bunch of gadgets I have at home, when I am traveling away. Also, I will test it to see if I can stream US TV when traveling abroad. Most TV networks don’t allow to watch the content I PAY FOR when I am traveling…. Well… We will see.

This was a very short book but to the point it will help you set up a vpn but it wonât tell you the difference between all the option. But be being a noobie, all this information was helpful.

So impressed
I knew it said a step-by-step guide, but this is a true step-by-step guide. It is so easy to follow. I can’t wait to start trying this out.

Save your money
Reading this was a total waste of time. All the book does is tell the reader to run scripts from a web site.

Glad I have this book
I just wanted to know about how difficult it would be to build my own VPN. It looks doable, but I really don’t know. I read a scathing review, and a good one, so I don’t know. I am glad I have this book though, if I ever decide to give it a shot.

The Simple Book I was Looking For
“Build Your Own VPN Server: A Step by Step Guide” is like the ultimate DIY project for internet privacy. It’s packed with straightforward steps that make setting up your own VPN seem as easy as pie, Raspberry Pi. This book breaks down the tech speak into simple language, showing you how to create a secure internet connection all by yourself. It’s like having a secret online passageway that keeps your browsing safe from prying eyes. If you’re curious about protecting your online footprint and want a guide that feels more like a friend explaining it over a game, this book is for you. Lin Song will teach you how to build your own cloud-based VPN. Perfect for young tech enthusiasts or anyone looking to step up their privacy game without getting bogged down by jargon. It was such an easy process. Thank you, Mr. Song; this book was what I needed.

If “build your own VPN” translates to “use someone’s VPN website to have a VPN on your computer”… than this guy is a genius. In reality, it’s a scam. “Build your own” should mean make one from scratch, not copy someone else’s homework to get an F.Just use a known VPN website, it won’t fully protect you. You get the point of modern technology by now.

This is not a book but a step by step leaflet on 33 pages with zero fall back explanations. And this ^^ is more explanation than the “booklet” ever offers if something may go wrong. No screenshots, no explanations, no pitfall recovery …nothing.I can get that directly from any VPN install procedure for the various VPN server s/w.I am not willing to spend 10 Euros for this. Since the inception of Amazon I have never returned a book or item purchased, BUT congratulations, this is going back. The best first sentence under the title is not something nice about VPNs but it is this (and I am reproducing it without permission, thank you very much for nothing):”No part of this publication may be reproduced, stored or transmitted in any form or by any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording, scanning or otherwise without written permission from the author”.I only hope he licensed his step by step naked recounts. He talks about learning and it is literally a step by step without explanation, without anything of value that could possibly enable to learn ANYTHING.Seriously, save yourself from “utterly failed” all the way. You wonder why the “better” Bewertungen come without explanation. Because they are of the same value as this “anti-booklet”.This useless tiny booklet goes back where it came from even though I should just use it to start a fire in my oven. But it has too few pages to make it economical.
