This unique handbook assumes no starting knowledge of car electrical and electronics systems.
It begins with simple circuits and finishes with complex electronic systems that include engine management, transmission control and stability control systems. If you want to diagnose a simple alternator charging or headlight problem, this book is for you.
But if you also want to fix complex electronic systems using On-Board Diagnostics, a multimeter or oscilloscope, this book also shows you how to do that.Is it best to use a series or parallel circuit when adding a horn? How do you use a multimeter to check a coolant temperature sensor against its specs? How can you add an electronic timer that will keep your headlights on as you walk to your door? When should you buy an oscilloscope – and how complex an instrument do you really need?
The author has been writing about car electronic systems for over 25 years. He is also an experienced and proficient car modifier who has performed numerous electronic modifications and upgrades to his own cars, including world-first modifications.
If you want a practical, hands-on book that demystifies and explains car electrical and electronic systems, this is for you.

Best book now available on automotive electronic systems.
This is unquestionably the number one book on car electronics available today. It covers the entire topic from basic electrical knowledge to the operation of the CAN buss and ECU in good enough detail that the reader gains a firm understanding of each topic. Included are basic elements of car electricity, switches and relays, meters, oscilloscopes electronic components, engine management etc. The writing is clear and detailed with lots of excellent diagrams. It includes an index and other supplementary information. The chapter on engine management is particularly well done and puts into a single reference the many complex elements required for a good understanding of the subject.

Good Drawings and Diagrams
I am an automotive engineering hobbyist, and was looking for a concept book about electrical systems; I have no intention of diagnosing or repairing anything. I just want to understand how things work. This book met my expectations very nicely. I was wary I might get a book filled with complicated circuit diagrams using symbols only an actual engineer would understand; instead, in this book the drawings and diagrams are mostly pictorial and easy to follow. One possible downside: the book is heavy on fuel injection system electronics, and light on some others, although most such systems are at least touched on.

good teaching tool for the bygone erra
a lot of intensionally errors but for a good reason to expose how our human society work in an illusive world.

Failed to deliver
I was looking for advance reading of wiring schematics and this book failed to deliver. In addition, I especially hated the module section along with other sections. This book failed to keep my attention. It got so bad that I had to skip through half of it.

Worked fine with my printer HP

A lot of imfo and simple to understand

Firstly…Listing this publication as 383 pages is absurd. There are âpagesâ (many of them) that detail a single component in schematic form. Some of the images are inexplicably cropped off??? Which is a shame because some of the detail is respectable. If you are thinking of purchasing this âbookâ just realize the page count is grossly misleading with respect to content volume.

Excellent book for information on components, procedures and enhancing knowledge of electrical systems.

Could have been a little more directed to the beginner but having said that, still a good tutor.
