Recommended/Passed The Test (KINDLE)
Passed the official exam with a score of 742 using this as my only study guide. I would query the internet for definitions and other concepts as added support, but this guide was primarily my foundation. All in all, great book and author. I recommend the purchase.(Now, I would like to highlight a design fault that is genuinely concerning.)The way this Kindle book (and other IT books like it) logically progresses through ideas can lead it’s readers to puzzlement: “Chapter Topics” are easily distinguishable due to their large font and bold text but “Section Topics” are not. If read on Kindle, the only way you can distinguish between “Topics” is by one property: font size. If that “Section Topic” has a “Sub-Section Topic” that is conceptual nested to it, the “Sub-Section Topic” will only be written in smaller font. This is a faulty design choice. As an alternative, try to italicize, radically change the font style, or even lighten the font color of nested ideas. By doing this, you clearly differentiate between “Topics” that are simply relevant to each other between topics that are actually consequential or nested.

Big Kid’s Book Size, but worth the read!
This book has all the information you need to study to pass the N10-008 exam. I had passed the A+ exam by hardly reading my book because it was so dry, but Todd’s energy comes through in the text of this book and can keep my attention. I almost didn’t read the book until my studies went over the topic of subnetting. No matter how many videos I watched, I couldn’t understand this topic, but once I read through Chapter 8 of this book, I finally got it down. Now I’m a subnetting savant! ðI passed my exam on the first attempt at 5:30 in the morning, thanks to this book! Don’t be alarmed by the size of the book either; there are big chunks that are basically repeated, so I would simply skip over what you know if you’re averse to reading lol.

Too Repetitive
Passed my Network+ N10-008 with a score of 761. This book was my main studying material (as well as the online quiz questions it comes with). The book helped me pass the exam and I am thankful for that but there are a few issues with the book I would like to point out. This book is over 1000 pages but all of the information could have been presented in about 600-800 if that. There are items and even whole chapters that are very repetitive and there are even sections that are duplicated word for word throughout chapters. For example, Chapter 15 High Availability and Distance Recovery and Chapter 22 Ensuring Network Availability. Why are these 2 separate chapters? This information should have been consolidated into one chapter. Also, Chapter 3 Network Connectors and Wiring Standards and Chapter 23 Cable Connectivity Issues and Tools. Again why are two sepeate chapters for this? The Chapters are one thing but what is really bad is the sections of text repeated word for word throughout different chapters. Here is one example of this:Chapter 14 page 527 [Baseline Configurations] *text is the exact same as it is in Chapter 24*Chapter 21 page 676 [Baselinse] *text simply points you to chapter 14 where it discusses baselines*Chapter 24 page 767 [Baseline] *text is the exact same as it is in Chapter 14*How does this make any sense? The same exact topic is mentioned across 3 different Chapters and each time the title of the section is slightly different. Two of the chapters have the exact same text and in the other chapter, it redirects you to one of the other chapters??? This is just one example of this there are more topics covered in the book where it is also repeated like this.I personally have not read (nor will I since I have already passed the exam) the McGraw Hill Network+ N10-008 book by Mike Meyers but I would steer you that way if you are looking to pick up a textbook for your studies. I did get the Sybex Wiley copy of the A+ book which I am currently studying for (yes I know I am technically taking the exams out of order but I have my reasons) and that one seems to be a little better written (it is a different author and I am only a few chapters in). I know when new editions of the exams come out there is a rush to get the new textbook released and I would like to give the author the benefit of the doubt and think that is why the book was so repetitive and written the way that it was. I would hope that they would go back through and clean it up a bit then re-release an improved edition of the book.

Didn’t lead to passing score
Inn no used this book and Jason Dion’s videos as my material and was not able to pass the CompTIA network+ official practice tests. I don’t recommend it. Can’t possibly recommend it.

Meh…
I picked this book up as part of a bundle, along with the review guide and practice tests.Given the book’s size, and that I’m already working in the industry, i opted to read through the review guide first (since it’s much smaller) and come back to the study guide to flesh out any concepts i was struggling with. I was struggling with STP, so i went to 1000+ page study guide, hoping to find more information than was in the ~300 page review guide; unfortunately – the larger tomb of information contained LESS information; there were a total of 3 pages on spanning tree, with a large section dedicated to the port states. the book however, completely glosses past terms like ‘root bridge’ , using them without defining them (and they’re not in the glossary, either). If the rest of the book is like this, it’s a huge waste of paper, especially when the review guide does a mostly good job describing concepts in about a third the size.

Very god guide for the Network+ certification exam. I am studying for the Security+ certification and thisis a good supplement book. Recommend this very good book.
Ednei P. de Melo –
Achei o material fraco e superficial, embora bem escrito.
Francisco Aparecido Rodrigues de Medeiros –
I do recommend if you want to take the Comptia Exam.
Miranda –
It was a phenomenal read. It covers the core concepts of the exam.

The book is good, but I was unable to access the digital content. The support was singularly unhelpful and the site seemed to be focussed on attaching web trackers (3 of them) rather than letting me access the flashcards
