Very reliable…..
Desktop version I think was purchased used or re-furbed, but in any case has served multiple systems for years with no issues, installed in the desk knee space, plenty of ventilation. Hope I didn’t hex it !!

Good product – go careful on photos
Very happy with product. Easy to set up. Bought two and bought a RJ45 crossover adaptor for $3 off Ebay to link the two switches together (which worked perfectly). The only problem is that Amazon has its photos wrong. The product they ship has power input (110v ac) on REAR, and all port lights and RJ45 outputs on FRONT. Initially i was going to send the switches back as i wanted power and outputs on rear with just lights visible on front as this would have given a neater finish …. but decided just to deal with them as this is the newer designed version from D-link. Hopefully Amazon will update their old photos soon !!!

Good
I bought a pair of these switches for my younger brother so he could host a LAN party. They were hooked up to a D-Link DGL-4500 gigabit router; 2 dedicated servers we had were hooked up to a D-Link DGS-2208 gigabit switch off the router (with a few Xboxes), and all of the guests computers were hooked up to these 16 port switches. My brother is not a technical person at all, and I had no interest in playing tech support for him, so I picked this switch, hoping that it would be relatively hassle free. It was.Speeds were great, and nobody complained of lag all night. There was no configuration necessary on either the router or switch; once we had everything plugged in and connected, it all worked flawlessly. If you’re looking for a great device, I’d actually suggest the gigabit version of this model. If you’re looking for a great device at a great value however, this is an excellent choice.NOTE – I’ve noticed a few comments suggesting that this is a gigabit device (10/100/1000) – it is NOT; this only does standard 10/100 ethernet.

Good value
I bought this expecting to get old stock new in box, since it’s an old model. However, it appears to have been built no earlier than 2012. The link lights and ports are laid out a bit differently than in the picture. The new link light grid is more readable than the old horizontal lights. The product comes with spacer brackets to allow it to be rack mounted, so if you have an equipment rack and need a small switch, don’t overlook this “desktop” model. The ports are all autosense and will automatically determine if a connection is an uplink. In other words, for a small home network you can just plug your cables in and not worry about topology.I bought this switch to replace a Cisco 150 Mbps powerline switch. The powerline switch rarely achieved more than 8 Mbps in practice, and added noticeable latency, making it unsuitable for gaming. I haven’t noticed latency with the new switch. So far I am very satisfied with it.If your network is growing and you can live with 100Mbps, this switch is an excellent value.

Spend a few extra bucks and get a better unit with better support.
Worked for about 10 days before it died. Unit shows no lights and power has been verified working.Support was useless. Website says request a RMA via email so filled out the form. Then got an email to call in. Long hold times, so basically useless support. As an IT guy who has bought a lot of D-Link equipment, I am surprised at the lack of support.

Little workhorse for the price
Itâs a unmanaged switch… you plug it in and it works! I purchased this used for my church we have dsl so I would never need more than the speed of this switch. Iâm running two access points the mixer and everything else at my small church and it works like a champ!

Love D-Link stuff
It’s VERY hard to beat D-Link for the money. I’ve heard people talk bad about D-Link, but after using a fair number of their products long-term, I have only had one failure- a DI-524 FIRST GENERATION. That makes it about 10 years old. For a cheap wireless router that was routinely exposed to 110+ degree ambient temperatures, I’d say that’s not too bad. But that’s not what the review is for. This is the third D-Link 16 port switch I’ve installed, and just like the others, it just sits there and does it’s job. Just like it should. No fuss.
