So useful I bought a 2nd one!
I’ve been working hybrid for a long time and have always had a decent home office setup. During my two years of work-from-home I brought my employer-issued dock (Thinkpad brand) home, and added a bunch of peripherals for a larger screen, better sound, and a better camera. Now I work from home about 70% of the time. My employer recently issued me a new laptop, and made it clear that I wasn’t getting a new dock and that any home office setup was at my own expense. After going into mild shock at the price of the Thinkpad dock, I decided to do without a dock the 30% of time I’m in the office. The problem with no dock is that I spent the first ten minutes of my day (or so it seemed) searching for cables that liked to hide under my desk, then plugging them into my computer. Then if I needed to take my laptop to someone else’s office or a meeting – repeat the process. Of course I also quickly ran out of USB-A and USB-C ports and had to add a mini-hub. And then there’s those tiny bluetooth adaptors that are just waiting to get lost. So I went in search of an affordable, reliable dock that 1) had an ethernet connection to replace the adaptor my laptop required, 2) supported 4K/60Hz video out for my monitor. This one worked perfectly and found a place on my desk at work. But let’s not forget travel. On the road I like to have my laptop, iPad, and frequently a DSLR for my photography hobby. The utility of this little dock was quickly demonstrated on a group trip where we wanted to play video over an external display, and also exchange photos and video via USB drives. The dock performed like a champ and our tour guides took down the information to purchase their own. At a conference where I was presenting the hotel didn’t provide an HDMI adaptor for those of us with modern laptops – problem solved by the dock! I eventually had to take an unplanned trip when I had left my dock plugged in at my office 90 minutes from home. Working remote in a hotel room I missed the convenience of the dock so much that my first action after arriving at home was to buy a 2nd one.As for durability – I’ve used it in my office since May 2022 without any issues (except my laptop doesn’t like me if I don’t power it down between different dock models). In the office I use the USB-C power input, ethernet input, HDMI output, and two USB-A (keyboard and USB mini-hub for camera and wireless mouse adaptor. I’ve also taken it on numerous transcontinental and international trips in just a Tumi cable organizer stored in the outside pocket of my backpack with my laptop power supply, and it has survived.Highly recommended for corporate road warriors, and travelers who like photography and video and need to transfer files to a laptop or iPad.

No issues with this product
Iâve had problems in the past using hubs similar to this one, however made from different manufacturers. This is a good one. Here are some tips for you to use our product:1. The 4K@60Hz is only available for laptops with DisplayPort 1.4 and 8K enabled. Among the devices we have tested so far, 8 of them support 60Hz: Macbook Air 13â2020, Macbook Pro 15â2019/2018, Macbook Pro 16â 2019, iPad Pro 12.9â2020/2018, iPad Pro 11â2020/2018.2. You could charge an iPhone by the USB 3.0 interface, but please note the USB ports are mainly intended for data transmission and do not support charging high-power phones.3. In order to effectively reach 1 Gbps network, please use CAT5E standard and above Ethernet cable.4. If you can’t get the HDMI port to work, please try some of the following steps:1) Confirm if the connected USB-C port of your device supports DP Alt Mode. To do this, please consult your device’s user manual, contact the seller, or check the manufacturer’s website.2) Plug your HDMI cable directly into your device or try another computer to see if you get a stable connection. If still not, please use a new HDMI cable. (Note: the USB C port on the hub does not support video output function, please connect your display via the HDMI port on the hub with a HDMI to HDMI cable)3) Verify that your monitor is configured to the correct input (HDMI).5. USB 3.0 interferes 2.4GHz WiFi and other wireless devices due to the similar frequencies. According to Microsoft, the problem occurs only for the 2.4GHz wireless band, but not for 5GHz. Please set your router to 5GHz to avoid the problem.6. We recommend using a 100W PD(Power Delivery) charger: 92W for charging the connected laptop and 8W for powering the hub.(Tips: The USB-C PD port does not support data transmission function).

Feels solid, only one complaint
For the price, I’m happy with this port replicator. I bought this one to replace another one (that was only a few dollars cheaper) that didn’t have an SD card slot. I needed that SD card slot to be able to pull images and videos from my cameras.Upon opening this, I was impressed. The chassis is aluminum so it feel solid and feels similar to my MacBook Air. The replicator may match with the space gray color, but my Macbook is silver, so it looks noticeably different. Certainly not a big deal, but for those who want to keep a certain aesthetic, it’s something to consider. Included is also a pouch for the replicator with a nice little stitched pocket on the front to slide the cable into.I haven’t yet tested every port, but what I have done seems to work fine with one notable exception. The USB C port on the replicator is apparently for power input ONLY. I plugged in an external hard drive to it and it didn’t show up on my desktop or even react like it had been connected to a computer. After switching my cables so the power cable went into the port replicator and the USB drive directly into the MacBook, everything worked fine. Just be aware of this as the description doesn’t explicitly state that. It does note the power input on the USB C but doesn’t clarify that the USB C port will not work for anything else. The replicator also gets a little warm when in use. It hasn’t gotten uncomfortably hot, but it’s warmer than I expected. I suppose the aluminum chassis may actually help dissipate the heat better – and why it feels warmer.

Solidly made and has a little pouch to keep it in.

Awesome accessory for my IMAC Pro
I like this add-on for my IMAC because it has enough ports to use additional features and devices for IMAC. I have some accessories for Windows PCs but did not have one for a new IMAC I purchased.

So, the product does what I needed it to do.Transfer files from a Micro SD Card, to a USB drive, without need to use a computer.I will review later when we see how it holds up.First impressions.Device feels real solid in the hand, feels premium, worked well enough (barring a speed test)It did not require external power, to do the job I needed it to do.The aluminum finish is beautiful, and the ports feel good. Now, the negative.and do notice, these negatives DO NOT show on the review.Unless I am missing something, the little pouch that came with it, has NO research and development, no planning, no common sense, and no feeling of value. They could have used pockets, or dividers, or something, honestly anything. Could have used ANY fabric bag, and it would fit better, and be more “usable”It would have been real nice to have some / any form of cable management, Honestly, would have been better to have the cable removable, or even not included at all.I worry about damaging it in transport, and it sticks out, most awkward, and renders the bag, well awkward, and prone to self damaging.Still gave 5 stars, Only time will tell.

Consigliatissimo!
