G7 Controller for Series S|X is the Best Controller Iâve Ever Used!
I am absolutely blown away at how great this G7 controller is for my Series X. I initially sought this out because I have big hands (for reference, the fingers in XL gloves are about half an inch too short for me) and the stock Xbox Series controller was actually painful for me to use. I could see in photos that the G7 had a different shape, more vertical on the sides with longer grips, and other reviewers had said they felt it was much more comfortable, so I gave it a shot. I can confirm the G7 is a different shape, and for me, MUCH more comfortable to use. Thatâs terrific, but it turns out I actually love EVERYTHING about this controller more than the stock one. Hereâs what I love about this thing:1. The shape â The stock controller is narrow at the top and has a V shape with sharply angled sides. This causes my fingers to lay over the top and around the back of the controller where they interlace with each other. This makes the shoulder buttons very hard to press down on, and I have to actually curl my fingers back and hold them in an arched position to press the shoulder buttons. The grips are also too short and so my pinky and ring fingers kind of slide off the controller and cup the bottom of the grip. The sharp angle of the sides also caused my wrists to bend at an unnatural angle, and I have to keep my elbows out to the side to accommodate, which isnât a natural position when Iâm sitting down. It had reached a point I didnât even want to touch the stock controller because it was making my wrists and hands ache. The G7 fixes all of that. You can see in photos that the outer edges run more vertically down into the grips. This makes a HUGE difference, so my wrists arenât angled so sharply. I think itâs wider at the top as well, and my index fingers rest quite naturally on the shoulder buttons. The grips are also slightly longer and easier for my pinky fingers to wrap around. The differences are subtle, if you just glance at photos they almost look like the same controller, but the differences are enormous when I actually hold the controllers in my hands. The G7 is an absolute life-saver for me.2. The buttons â This really surprised me. Iâd read the buttons were different, but I really just wanted the G7 for the shape and figured Iâd roll with the buttons however they were. Turns out the buttons feel amazing to me, maybe my favorite of any controller Iâve ever had. I kind of hate how loud and clicky the face buttons are on the stock controller, and I find they are so hard to press down that it actually starts to hurt the middle joint of my thumb over time. The G7 buttons are much easier to press down on but still have the nice clicky accuracy of the stock controller. They are also perfectly responsive and register inputs exactly as I expect them to. These are clickier than the PS4 controller, but not nearly as loud and clicky as the stock Series controller, and to me they feel exactly right. Same with the D-pad, which is surprisingly my favorite part of this controller. Any chance I get, whether itâs in game menus or playing a side-scrolling beat âem up, I will happily use the D-pad just because it feels amazing to press down on. Perfect amount of precision and clickiness but with a slight softness to it that I love. Similar to the face buttons, the D-pad also feels very precise and responds exactly how I expect it to.3. The texture and overall feel â The back of the controller is textured with a firm rubbery feel, and it is noticeable as soon as I pick it up. Huge difference from the hard plastic of the stock controller. Again, I had no interest or preference in this when I bought it, but it has became one of the many things I love about the G7. It just feels so secure and comfortable in my hands, and along with some wonderfully textured analog sticks and the super responsive buttons, I feel like I have complete control over what Iâm doing in-game at all times. This thing is a joy to pick up and hold.4. Other stuff â There are mappable buttons on the back of the grips, one on each side. I actually didnât like these at first and found myself awkwardly pressing down on them accidentally while playing. They werenât mapped to anything yet so it didnât affect the game, but it still felt weird in my hands. But two things happened: 1. my hands and fingers adjusted to the buttons being there and I never press them accidentally now, and 2. I chose to map L3 and R3 to them and have found that to be a huge improvement in comfort and just satisfaction with the gameplay experience over pressing down on the sticks, which Iâve never loved on any controller. Playing a first person shooter where L3 and R3 are used for run and melee feels so awesome and satisfying with those back buttons now. Also, I am a huge fan of the cord. My specific gaming setup does not involve pets or kids etc and so a cord doesnât bother me, and I actually prefer it over the batteries so Iâm not always getting a notification that the batteries or battery pack is low. This thing is just always ready to go. The cord is a nice woven one as well, and like everything else on this controller, feels very high quality. Plus, this controller pays for itself just from the cost of batteries or rechargeable battery packs. The swappable face plates also sit snugly and securely, to the point I would never even know they were there. Lastly, the controller came with a code for a month of free Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which is a $15 value. That wouldnât matter at all if I didnât like the controller, but considering how much I love the G7 itself, the code is like a cherry on top.Okay, I know this has been a long review, but a couple final thoughts: Before buying the G7, the PS4 controller was my favorite to date. The Series S|X stock controller was my least favorite controller of any recent console generation (much worse to me than the 360 controller, which I liked and used for many years with no issues), and it had actually begun to ruin my experience with my Series X and made me want to not play any more. Mercifully, the G7 has completely transformed my experience with my Series X. Not only is it a huge step up from the stock controller for me, but after spending some time on my PS4 recently, I can say the G7 is definitely my favorite controller ever. I get excited just to use it. I will literally be at work sometimes thinking about how much I love the texture and buttons on this thing.Everything about the G7 is so well thought out and the craftsmanship is remarkably high. This is all subjective, of course, you may not like the feel of the buttons or the texture etc. and the cord might be a hassle for you. And a lot of people love the stock controller as-is. But at the very least, if you have large hands like me I would 100% recommend giving this a shot, as the shape of it has been an absolute life-saver for me. I have had this for almost three months now playing several times a week, and it has been perfect. If anything goes wrong with it I will update this review, but considering how incredibly well made every part of the G7 feels, I expect to get many years of use out of it.

The best controller I’ve ever bought!
Every gamer hates the dreaded stick drift issues that occur with controllers. This one was better priced and a better value for your money. Plus it has a few features you don’t get with first party controllers. It feels great in my hands, and I like not having to charge it or having any kind of delays or lag as I play. I would love to add more to my collection. The interchangeable face plate is cool too, but I would like to see more colors added. Thank you guys for such a satisfying product though. Seriously.

Great Budget Pro Controller
Had this controller for some time now, I actually really enjoy it for an everyday controller. Itâs still very snappy after 3-4 months of continuous usage. Itâs true it has zero stick drift and I donât fear stick drift coming anytime soon. The software for mapping and controlling vibration is very simple and easy to use. If they made a wireless version Iâd prob give it a 5/5 but having a wire hasnât been a problem. (The back buttons are also pretty cool, not as good as a battle beaver or scuff but pretty decent.)

Great feeling controller
My expensive Razer Wolverine controller has always been pretty mid but dealt with it because I spent so much money on it. The buttons were hard to press for me. It finally started having response issues and I decided it was time to upgrade.I looked at several controllers and spoke to friends on what they recommended and this one was the top of the list. It’s price point made me nervous but decided if I didn’t like it I could just return it.My god am I glad I got this controller. For feel and quality, I probably would have spent $80+ on it. It’s definitely worth the money, and the option to have black or white is really nice too. I have smaller hands and don’t have issues with the size like the Wolverine.

Majorly disappointed
Bought the GameSir G7 Wired Controller and used it for the Xbox Series X and was so excited to use it. Pulled it out of the box and it looked and felt amazing, unfortunately I quickly realized that the controller Jack for the headset was broken unless it was on mute. Once muted things sounded perfectly fine. The issue occurred while on unmute. Which for me isnât going to work as I tent to talk to friends while playing online and have my sound come directly through the headset rather then the tv. When unmuted the games sounded echoey, fuzzy and low, no one could hear me speaking and I couldnât hear them. I quickly returned it and asked for a replacement as I want to use the control properly. I will update my review once the new control is received and used.Returned my second controller for a full refund due to it also being faulty. I mean I know you get what you pay but for this seems to be a bit of a joke, I really enjoyed using it until it broke not even two weeks after replacing the first one. The Left side of the controller stopped working properly. Left trigger had a mind of its own and would do stuff by itself. The analog stick when pressed in to sprint would squeak and start zooming in while I was mid run, completely stopping my movement.

Good replacement controller
I like the wired controller for my child as the other controllers with a cord not attached always seem to get messed up at the charging port. I like that the wire is connected so that the product will last longer. No issues with the functionality of the controller. No sticking or affecting the game at all. Can keep plugged while playing the game and last for hours while my child is playing the game.

Fantastic Controller
Has superior build quality and way more features than the oem xbox controller for a better price. Very comfortable. The usb c cable is very durable and fits very snug. Swappable faceplates is a nice touch. Small features like the built in mic mute button are really nice improvements. Some people might not like that it is wired, but i enjoy not having to fuss with charging or replacing batteries and the cable is quite long. Honestly wish I would’ve bought one of these ages ago.

Start and select buttons are slightly off location compared to a regular Xbox controller and take some relearning of muscle memory but the underside buttons work great and are super easy to map. For those who don’t want to pay for an elite this is the next best thing.

I have used many different controllers since I started to game on them on pc since 2016. I know many in the pc master race don’t look kindly on guys who use anything other than a keyboard and mouse. Its convenient. There are limited amount of buttons. So if you forget a prompt you don’t need to open the options menu to figure the controls. I have used Scruff, Razer, and Nacon controllers. Actually several of them. This one feels good for the price. Firstly very low error rate. Even though this isn’t a hall effect joystick. It’s a simple potentiometer. But it is done well. It almost has the feeling of using a hall effect joystick. The software is simple. A trigger stop would have been nice. It can be switched on via a software. It’s okay in performance. Coming to the switches. Why I went for this controller. After doing a lot of research I found out that this had mechanical face buttons. The clicks feel really good. It’s intuitive using the d pad when playing a fighting game. Now let’s address the elephant in the room. Yep as advertised. It does over 1000 hz. It feels snappy. It does. Nothing feels as good as to be able to line up a perfect headshot in your fav game. Now you can do that using a controller. It feels amazing moving up from 125 or 250 hz controllers. Even on an Xbox you can enjoy a 1000hz. Just one bummer. You can’t use the headphone jack at that polling rate. All in all a win for Gamesir. I an loving it. Nice braided cord. Extra white faceplate. Feels good in the hand with its grippy feel. Why I said, a steal for the price. Sure you can buy a controller for on the cheap with a 1000hz. This just though…feels good. I mean the XYAB buttons feel as good as the Razer wolverine. Hell…those are expensive. This is one third the price. The software is a bit barebone but hey I am not complaining. All in all a winner…last but not the least. This doesn’t give me sweaty palms and it has dual rumble motors which are quiet powerful.

An excellent pro controller at a budget price. Well made with mechanical buttons. The extra buttons underneath are easy to program and comfortable to use. You CANNOT adjust stick sensitivity through the app, though, if that’s what you’re looking for; it only lets you modify the deadzones. It doesn’t have hall effect sticks, but if you do end up getting any kind of drift it is cheap to buy another. I bought two just to have a spare!
