Top tier quality, typical of Gulikit
The moduled Gulikit makes now are just plug and play, no soldering of the touch pads required, they’re pre-installed and with the stick caps. The short version: If you like the lightest resistance, most sensitive sticks you can get, these are worth it as a day 1 upgrade.Feel wise, I have heard people say they couldn’t really tell a difference. I can. The sticks are maybe 10-20% lighter in resistance to movement, so they feel faster and less sluggish than the (already very good) factory sticks. they’re also noticeably more sensitive to very small inputs. I found precision aiming in FPS games DRAMATICALLY improved, I was more “gesturing” directions with the tips of my thumbs after setting the dead zones very small. (don’t set them to full “zero”, as they’ll feel very nervous and twitchy just under the pressure of your thumb resting on them. I went with about 4000 on mine in the deck calibration)You also don’t need to know before you buy if you have an A or B model (you can find out in the settings but don’t need to check before you buy these) because these just come with a switch on the back that toggles between A and B, so they’re compatible with all decks. just check the stick serial number before you start taking it apart.Install was a breeze. You need one small philips driver and a thin stiff pry tool (I had to use a metal one, my plastic ones weren’t stiff enough) and just get an edge right in at the corner of the grip side of the shoulder buttons. Once you hear a satisfying “pop”, don’t run the tool down the side (it just won’t work) but feel down until you get a “slot” in the body, insert the tool there, and pop again. Easy for a first timer, didn’t leave a scratch on the case.Just follow gulikit’s guide on their website, all you can skip now is the soldering and cap replacement steps since they’re included now, and make sure you flip the switch on each controller to set it to A or B mode (if you’re absolutely unsure, go with B. A versions were just the first steam decks, but it’s right there in the settings to check)Before you close it up, calibrate them. There’s a tiny button on the back of each stick module. Both of my sticks were at “zero” where they were slightly down and to the left. You correct this by pushing the stick a little bit further in the direction that it’s errored (so for me, push slightly down and to the left) and then using your other hand, press the micro button on the back of the module, then release the stick. It took me 5-10tries to get it perfect for the left stick and one try for the right. It’s a little fiddly, but should take under 2 minutes. You don’t NEED to do this if you just set the deadzones larger, but it will feel less precise – it’s not a defect with the sticks, your factory sticks were just calibrated at the factory, and you’re doing what was done to it before it was boxed up.Overall, I would say for the tiny price of $30, these are a noticeable improvement to my hands. I already use a gulikit king kong pro 2 controller and these sticks feel identical – very light, very smooth, very precise. The difference might be subtle for some, but dramatic for others. For me, it was dramatic. I like featherlight sticks and heavier hall effect sticks like the 8bitdo ultimate are not pleasant to me. The factory sticks of the deck were pretty superb, but there’s just an extra degree of lightness and sensitivity that the gulikit sticks bring to the party, and I found it had a big difference right where I found the factory ones lacking – ultra fine precision aiming.I was on the fence since so many people said they noticed no improvement, but I was in the mood to do some modding and I already knew gulikit made excellent stuff. And I’m glad I did.

These things are essential
Installation wasn’t super easy but, even a beginner can figure it out. The only complex part is the wonky way to calibrate each stick. For the most part, they were pretty much centered. The quality is indistinguishable from what valve provides. You can’t really tell the difference from the original sticks. Knowing that these sticks will last much longer than the stock ones, that added security is all I need.

Far outperformed my expectations
I watched a video to go along with the replacement, and it was a lot easier than I imagined. As for the actual joysticks, I bought them simply because I always had minor issues with the default joysticks, particularly with how slippery the conductive pads were and they kept getting stuck, and drifted. Once I decided to replace the official sticks, I lost trust in them so I tried these and WOW. They are not only as accurate as they advertised, but they feel REALLY good. They look and seem the exact same shape, but the material in the center is so much more comfortable and much harder for the thumbs to slip on it.I have had zero issues so far, and games that require fast joystick movements like platformers are a lot more appealing to me now that the comfort factor is way higher.I wholeheartedly recommend this product.

Great products and hopefully some that get better over time
Hall effect joysticks are soo much better than regular carbon pot sensors. Aiming is smoother in first person shooters and adventure and puzzle games. Super responsive and wonderful. Now for some of the hiccups of these products. #1 The King Kong 2 controller is great, well built and engineered wonderfully to last a long time, but every once in a while it disconnects from my computer or Nintendo switch, and the right thumb stick will seldomly whip around my camera or aiming in games more than the input stick pressure. I’ve updated the firmware, but doesn’t fix the problem. #2 the Steam Deck joysticks are great. I installed them without the calibrating them. I didn’t notice that the right stick came with drift attached from the factory (slight drift to the bottom left to be exact .8000 out of alignment according to steams stick calibration software). I discovered this after playing a flight simulator, I had to take apart the steam deck back cover again to use the little calibration button (which is smaller than a grain of sand and barely noticeable) to set the center point. After that it works great. #3 Nintendo switch joycon sticks. Works great, no problems there 10/10.

Amazing responsiveness
After installing I temporarily left the back cover off to zero these sticks using the back button and the konsole command and these are a great upgrade from the start, I kept the stock sticks but never plan on going back to them
