Unable to install Ubunut Linux.
The laptop was a great price for the horsepower. However, I was unable to get Ubuntu 22.04 to boot up on the laptop. I run Ubuntu Linux on all my computers and rarely have an issue installing on a new computer. This laptop was the exception. I attempted to install Ubuntu 22.04. The installation went smoothly, but the system would not boot up. It kept saying it could not find the file-system. I then attempted to install 24.04. Again, the installation went smoothly, but the system would not boot up. I then attempted to install 20.04. The installation went smoothly and this time the system did boot up. However, when I performed the release upgrade to go from 20.04 to 22.04, the upgrade went smoothly but the system would no longer boot up. I must have tried some 20 installations attempting different BIOS and kernel configurations before finally giving up and returning the laptop. I ended up buying a different HP laptop from Sam’s Club with which I had no problems at all installing and booting Ubuntu 22.04.
If you are going to stick with the stock Microsoft Windows installation, then this laptop is probably a great buy for you. If you intend to install a Linux installation instead, then you should avoid this laptop.

Great value!
This computer does everything that i needed it for.. I use it for everything except work as I am am retired. Use it take care of bill payments, bank reconciliation as well as for pleasure. It is fast when you are shopping in different sites and listening to music. My wireless headphones pair easily . It is also easy to set up when first starting out. I enjoy it and am pleased with my purchase. It has Microsoft Office so I don’t think doing work would be any problem.

2 months in & already having issues
Worked great when I got it. Easy setup. Great performance. Exactly what I needed. Used it on Saturday and it worked fine, no issues. Go to use it the following Monday, and it won’t start up. Gets stuck on a black screen with a flashing cursor. I’ve tried ALL of the troubleshooting options. I’ve tried a hard reset. I’ve contacted HP tech support through chat, tried all of the troubleshooting with them. Still not working. Called HP tech support tonight and tried more troubleshooting and another reset. Still nothing. So now I’ve had this thing for barely 2 months, it’s unusable. And HP says I need to pay $40+ to have a flashdrive with the windows software loaded on it mailed to me because I don’t have access to a different computer to download it to my own flashdrive and reinstall it on this computer even tho it’s still within warranty but this is not covered. I’m so terribly disappointed in this whole process. I bought this computer to go back to school and for my small business. What a waste of money.

Plasticky but fast
I’ll start with the bad first. Yes, it’s plasticky on the keyboard. The outside is plastic too but I actually think it feels very sturdy and wouldn’t mind it even on a more expensive laptop. The keyboard does have a bit of a grainy texture and feels plasticky on my nails, that bothers me but I’m getting used to it. Setup is a pain on windows 11, with a billion opt outs/ins for basically advertising. At least you can say no though so just pay attention to what they’re asking during setup. :/
Aside from that though, I’m really happy with the computer. It’s fast. I turned off S mode in the settings under activation. S mode prevents you from downloading anything not Microsoft approved, including other browsers. Quite frankly, S mode is only good for controlling a child’s downloads in my opinion, but I wouldn’t force edge on even a child. Lol
I only bought this for writing but it’s far exceeded my speed expectations and size is nice and big even though the laptop is extremely light. I haven’t tried but I do think it could handle some light gaming.
I would definitely recommend getting it.

Nice laptop
I’ve always been a Mac user but this time I went with this HP laptop for some work at home tasks. I am super impressed with this laptop very affordable and very effective. Right out of the box it walks you through all prompts very easily so you can set it up. I’ve been using it for about a month now and all I have to say is buy it! You won’t be disappointed

Missing needed hardware
Laptop does not come with SSD slot or DVD drive.
Windows 11 home S. If you download applications or files you cannot install. Only apps from the play store will install.
So far for the money the quality is good however only USB and one HDMI ports to work with.
For example I wanted to install chrome and Adobe reader and I couldn’t unless doing the one way conversation from S.
So ultimately I got what I paid for HP quality with a good processor and RAM yet lacking the DVD drive and SSD ports and software restrictions.
