An expensive alternative to a defective TV connection…
What a rip-off. Fire TVs have an Ethernet connector that has not worked for years and has not been fixed by software upgrades as promised. At first, the TV shows a wire connection and requests configuration but it never sticks and the tv just reverts to WiFi.

Worked on my Surface Pro 4, but not my Nintendo Switch
Honestly considering it’s not advertised to work on the Switch and the Answer’s page on Best Buy’s website has someone who said that it wouldn’t work, I can now confirm that it won’t work on the Nintendo Switch, but again it works great on my Surface Pro, so I’d say 4/5, works as intended.

No install driver on Insignia web site
I bought this from Best Buy because I was in a jam. Needed to install the driver on a Surface Pro. My Surface Pro does not have a disc drive so I went on Insignia’s web site. I found the product and links to an “uninstall” driver but not an “install” driver for the adapter. So; I’m out of luck. Of no use to me. And; it’s made in Communist China. Stay away from buying anything from Communist China.

Works great with up-to-date operating systems
Worked for me on MacOS and Linux. Didn’t have the kernel panic issue with up to date drivers. I was pleasantly surprised that it also worked great on my Raspberry Pi (Raspbian Stretch Lite).

This works on my Mid 2015 Macbook pro retina with High Sierra just fine, in setting it up you have to make sure when the driver installs that you allow the extension permission to load in SysPref->Security or it won’t do anything. The throughput isn’t as good as a hardwire connection to another computer I have, I seem to get 100MBps/12MBps with this adapter so I guess it caps out at 100, which is probably fine for most. all my thunderbolt ports are taken up with monitors so I don’t have much of a choice here.

Mac users beware!
I bought this product at a Best Buy recently while I wait for my internet router. The installation CD that comes with this product has Realtek v1.0.8 drivers for macOS that must be installed to use the adapter. If you are on the latest macOS (High Sierra, 10.13), DO NOT INSTALL THOSE DRIVERS. The packaged drivers will cause severe kernel issues and completely disable all wireless activity for the computer.I downloaded the latest drivers (v1.0.17) and everything is back to normal. The adapter does work well, once the correct drivers are installed.
