Might need firmware update to sync satellite to router
The review from GUANGRONG ZENG under “Top Reviews from Other Countries” saved me. I made the mistake of buying the Orbi router/modem (CBR750) with no satellites, thinking my apartment was so small I wouldn’t need a satellite. Big mistake, the wifi signal from the router in the living room did not reach the bedrooms in the back of the apartment. So I purchased the Orbi stand-alone satellite (RBS750). The instructions for syncing the satellite to the router/modem did not work at all (plugging the satellite in to an outlet and then pushing the sync buttons on the satellite and router). I kept getting the magenta light. So I followed the instructions from GUANGRONG ZENG (who got them from another reviewer). The only change I had to make, was that I found the specific IP address of my satellite in the Orbi app after I had connected the satellite via ethernet. I then entered Admin and Password as the username and password. It then took me to the page in the first image. Next step was update the firmware. I found my router’s firmware version in the orbi app under router settings. Then I kept uploading the wrong file (CBR750 instead of RBS750). Once I get the right file uploaded, the firmware updated. See the second image. Then I refreshed and saw the third image. I then refreshed the Orbi app, and instead of saying “Satellites: 0 of 1,” it now said “Satellites: 1 of 1.” I have copied the original review below so that people can see all of the steps. Can not syn my new satellite for 2 hours, After review and tried C&J review, my system work great now, thank you for the help, i repost his post. credit to him. anyone having this problem, follow the step and give this a shot, thank you.5.0 out of 5 stars Advanced setup may be required.Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2023Verified PurchaseI’ve had good luck with my Orbi 750 system but wanted to expand the coverage with this satellite. I spent over 2 hours trying to get this to sync with my system with no luck. This is what I ended up having to do, and Iâd assume this will work for whomever runs into this issue.⢠Start by plugging the new satellite into the Orbi router with an Ethernet cable. Plug the new satellite into power and wait for it to boot up (usually 2 minutes).⢠Wait for the light on the satellite to turn blue and then turn off.⢠At this point open a web browser and log into the Orbis interface (192.168.1.1) enter your username and password when prompted, then select attached devices and find the IP address of the new satellite.⢠Once you’ve located the new satellites IP address open a new tab and enter the new satellites IP address into the address bar and login (Username:admin/password:password).⢠Once you’ve logged into the new satellites web interface look for the firmware version and compare it to your existing Orbi firmware. If it doesn’t match you need to manually update the new satellite firmware.⢠Open a new tab and search RBS750 firmware. Find the firmware version that matches your current system from the Netgear support site only (not 3rd party).⢠Once you’ve located the correct firmware download it to your desktop. When it’s finished downloading extract the zip file to your desktop. The firmware file will end with .chk . Now go back to the browser tab for the new satellite and select firmware/update Firmware then select browse and navigate to the unzipped folder you downloaded and select the file ending .chk and update. This process can take up to 19 minutes.⢠Once the satellite is finished and there is no light coming from the new satellite unplug it from your router and place where you want it and plug it back into power.⢠After the light on the new satellite finishes blinking it should go blue for a moment then off. If the placement is poor you may get an amber light instead of blue and magenta if it’s too far from the Orbi router.⢠This is how I got mine to work, I hope this helps someone in the same situation. After all this it works great for me.

This fixed my wifi quality issues
My techie nephew recommended these. I was getting spotty to no wifi connection in my home office which negatively affects my work (duh). Iâm fairly tech capable but I had trouble setting it up. My nephew set it up when he came to visit and it works like a dream. Itâs a great solution for me.

Great Speed and Connectivity
I recently upgraded from my old Orbi system with one satellite to this new mesh system with two satellites. The upgrade in speed and coverage has been outstanding. My download and upload speeds have doubled when I tested them and my home coverage is much better. I love the new system and I am very happy I made this upgrade.

I use this for Remote video editing
I bought this after trying other systems and a MOCA and it’s been Great and the least problematic part of anything. I have to reset my modem and ONT almost once a month and never have to reset this system.I get nearly 1gb and no lag. I have two satellites around the house. I am thinking of a third gor the garage so I could work outside on days I am doing paperwork. It reaches but I would also like it for outdoor security cams to have a non-constructed signal. So in conclusion. Has been great for three years, still going strong.

Good range
This carries the signal a good distance. I have one satellite in my garage away from the house and I can also receive a strong signal more than an acre away from the satellite.Good performance

Profoundly disappointing
This review is for a NETGEAR Orbi Whole Home Tri-band Mesh WiFi 6 System (RBK752) â Router with 1 Satellite Extender | Coverage up to 5,000 sq. ft. and 40+ Devices | AX4200 (Up to 4.2Gbps). Android application version: 2.10.1.1583 Router and Satellite Firmware Version V3.2.18.1_1.4.14Given how long Netgear has been in the WiFi Router business and comparing this to Netgear products I owed many years ago, I find this product profoundly disappointing and would in no way recommend it to anyone for any reason. This kit consists of an RBR750 router, an RBS750 satellite, two AC adapters with proprietary barrel adaptors, and a CAT 5e ethernet cable. My ISP is Comcast/Xfinity and I have Gigabit internet service through a Motorola MB8611 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem, that supports 6 Gbps Max Speed. The router I am replacing is a Google Wifi – AC1200 – Mesh WiFi System – Wifi Router – 4500 Sq Ft Coverage – 3 pack. In my area there are 20+ WiFi networks, so there is a lot of interference that necessitates a mesh system for decent performance. I have about 30 devices in about 3000 square feet connected via ethernet and WiFi. All my cabling is CAT 6, which should easily support Gigabit speeds, and I have a wired backhaul connection between the router and the satellite. The android phone used was a Google Pixel 4a.Initial setup is through the Android Orbi app. It’s supposed to be as simple as connecting the cable modem and router, starting with them powered off, then following the app instructions by powering up the modem, waiting for it to connect, then powering up the router. It took about half a dozen tries for the app to even recognize there was a router to set up (with the phone at various distances from the router from a few inches to several feed. I’m not sure why it failed several times and why it eventually worked. When it worked one of the first things it did was a firmware update before it established a network.Initial performance was poor – at best similar to the old WiFi 4 Google Mesh system, and in many places slower (about half the speed). I eventually figured out that while the setup process had updated the router firmware, it had not updated the satellite. Once I updated the satellite, speed improved dramatically, with many speeds about double the older Google Wifi, and in some places as much as 8x the speed. But why didn’t it get updated on initial; setup? The Android app, the router web interface, and the firmware are primitive, unintuitive, feature poor, and buggy with similar actions often having different results, even small configuration changes requiring a router restart, and the results of software and hardware restarts often being different and causing different malfunctions. It’s like bad software from the 70’s and there is no excuse for it. One of the most annoying issues was the router would stop listing attached devices for no apparent reason and would require a hard power off of the satellite then the router and a hard power up in the reverse order to cause attached devices to reappear – then for no apparent reason at some point it would stop listing them again. This is a problem Netgear has had several times in the past with various firmware updates – again there is no excuse for this. Periodically, the network seems to freeze for a few seconds to a few minutes several times a day for no apparent reason. And finally to add insult to injury you are plagued for requests to purchase additional warranty, additional support, and an additional security subscription for an unreliable system that is very expensive for the quality and feature set and comes with minimal warranty, support, and a brief trial security subscription.Don’t buy it. Choose a different brand that offers more value for money, has friendlier and more reliable software, and comes with better warranty and support and does not require additional subscriptions for functionality. Netgear – shame on you.

The product page says that itâs a router plus a satellite when you order and that itâs new. However, I got only the router and there are marks and dents everywhere on this thing. Avoid at all costs.

The description says this is 100-240V, but the unit I got is only 110V. If you live in a place with only 220V, then this unit is NOT usable. I had to request a return, which is not a fun process. It is been three weeks now and the request is still pending…
