Good for the basics!
Some things to keep in mind with this cable. – It does not work with a standard 5v power brick. – It does not work with a standard USB-C charging cable hooked up to a 100w PD port. – It DOES work with a special, rapid-charging 60w USB-C to USB-C cable hooked up to a 100w PD port. It’s inconvenient that there is no pigtail on the HDMI end of the cord, because it means you have to have the USB cable plugged into it first before you begin fumbling on the back of the television or monitor to get everything plugged in. I suppose that this makes for a cleaner, less obtrusive look, but, I mean… the cable is bright red. It’s going to call attention to itself no matter what.I’ve left the unit on for a while now and it hasn’t dropped its charge, so it’s either actively maintaining the charge on my OLED Switch or else actively charging it.This cord seems like a useful fallback to rely on in the event that a dock gets broken or is unusable, or a fun alternative to take with you in a travel case. My personal preference is for a docking cable that also has USB ports, but this one will certainly do in a pinch.

Connect and charge at the same time.
This cable is good for more than just a switch. I have used it with a variety of devices, and it has functioned flawlessly. It is a one cable solution to connect to an external display while charging the device. The cable feels a little on the low-quality side out of the box, but I have been using it for a few months now on a daily basis and it has been flawless for me. The connectors stay in place. The overall look of this cable is the best. I get tired of another black cable. This one is easy to find in a backpack or in a bundle of cables.

Perfect HDMI charging port for switch
This is perfect for anyone on the go who wants to connect their Nintendo switch to the TV. You just plug in and play. It charges the switch and connects display with a Nintendo Switch dock saving so much hassle and bulkiness. My kids are too rough dropping the switch into the dock so this has saved our Switch.

Left my Switch burning hot
I LOVE the idea of this cable. I took my Nintendo Switch to my mother-in-lawâs so we could watch the hand make itâs way out of the center of the map with Pandoraâs box chained to it in Fortnite on her TV. I used the Nintendo charger to connect to the cable to keep the Switch powered and plugged it in the HDMI slot on her TV and we had hours of fun watching the hand and playing many, many rounds of Fortnite â 4 hours we sat and played. When we were done and ready to leave I picked up my Switch, which we laid on the TV stand while we played, and it was burning hot. When a Switch is in the official Nintendo dock, it never gets hot â I have never felt my Switch hot like this.  I really like the idea of having a cord like this for portable use as I travel, but I donât want to risk hurting my Switch.

Great portable dock and can serve as a USB-C to HDMI cable for other devices
The Nintendo Switch has a very specific set of requirements to display the output signal as a “dock”. This cable fits those requirements perfectly — all you need to do is plug the HDMI cable into the TV or monitor, connect a power cable to the plug, and then hook up the other end to the switch. Voila — your Switch is now on the big screen! The cable is a good length where you can place the switch on a table or console near the TV. Just make sure to have a long enough USB C cable since you’ll need to plug that into a separate wall outlet for AC power. The instructions on the box advise to use the “Nintendo provided power adapter”. I found that I had no problems using a 45W USB C charger. There are a few improvements / caveats to this adapter:1. I wish that the USB-C adapter was a right angle adapter. You basically have to lay the switch flat in order to connect it. If it used a right angle adapter, you could stand it up or have some more options for how you can position the switch itself2. Most switch docks use a female port for the HDMI connection — you can use any existing cable to plug in to the dock. This one is a male HDMI adapter so you have to directly connect it to the TV or bring an adapter to connect this with an existing HDMI cable. Both options have their pros and cons — in order to use this cable, you have to have direct access to the TV or HDMI port. Often times, when I travel to an Airbnb or VRBO, I just disconnect a device that’s hooked up to the TV and use that cable to plug it into the adapter that I brought. Finally, this cable also serves as a standard USB-C to HDMI cable so you can also plug in your laptop, ipad, etc. into a TV or monitor with this cable!Mostly great all around with a few minor nits and things that could be improved.

Cute and works great!
I didn’t need anything that was portable, and I honestly didn’t use it for my switch. I currently use it with my Surface Dock 2 and my external monitor. The baby blue and hot pink put a little smile to my face every time I catch it; the rest of my wires on my desk are boring plain black. I have not ran into any issues with connection yet!

A complete âdockâ in a cable!
This is a fairly straight forward dock-in-a-cable. It works perfectly, but you do need to supply your own USB-C power supply, and make sure it has a long enough cord to reach as far as you need it to. It supports USB-C Display Port Alt mode, so you can use it with any device that supports DP Alt mode. You need to plug this directly into the HDMI port on the TV, or if you already have a female-female HDMI connector, you can extend it with a standard HDMI cable to get some extra length. I really, really wish this didnât need a separate power supply, but I know thatâs too much to ask. HDMI cables alone can only supply about 50mA at 5V, and certainly the switch uses more than that.Overall, I donât think this is as great as a standard dock, just because of the limitations of the cable form-factor, but it works really well for me to have on hand when my kidâs friends come over with their Switch, they donât need to bring the dock with them. I like that itâs a unique color, so when itâs jumbled in with my other HDMI cables itâs easy to find, since I donât use it that often. 5 Stars.
