Great to bring old tech back to life!!
Retro gaming fans rejoice! This AV to HDMI converter allows you to play old-school video game consoles on modern TVs or projectors with ease. I’ve noticed that many modern TVs no longer include the old red, white, and yellow AV ports, so this converter was a perfect solution for my Nintendo 64 that had been sitting in my closet for about five years. The unit comes with all the necessary cables and is packaged nicely. It’s simple and bare-bones, which is what you want in a product like this. The converter itself includes a power cable but does not come with a wall plug, so you’ll need to provide your own (or use a usb slot on the side of your TV). It does need to be powered to work properly as it does not seem to operate without it. There could be a bit of troubleshooting the first time as the unit needs to be powered before the item feeding into it is turned on, otherwise it does not register new video. It was a little weird first time but seems to be working well now.Iâve thoroughly enjoyed playing my old-school games again. One feature I particularly appreciate is that the unit is clearly labeled as an “AV to HDMI Converter,” making it easy to identify if stored away. Additionally, it has a 720P to 1080P switch, allowing you to adjust the resolution based on your preference and what looks best in the situation you are using it for.Overall, I highly recommend this product for anyone looking to revive their retro gaming consoles on modern TVs. It includes everything you need and performs its job exceptionally well.

Exactly what I needed to connect my VHS VCR to my modern TV
This little gadget does a great job of taking the audio and video from older equipment, such as VCRs, LaserDisc players, gaming systems, etc., and converting to HDMI so you can connect your old gadgets to your new HDTV. The picture and sound are clear and stable. Of course, it can’t turn old VHS videos into high definition Blu-ray quality video with 5.1 sound, but it does deliver a clear, sharp image and the sound is just as good as it was on the original VHS tape.

Works great
This is the second of these that Iâve ordered and it works great. My GF gave me permission to make the Den into a game room, lol. I used this one to connect my Dreamcast, the first one I used to connect my GameCube. These work like a charm. One tip, if youâre connecting more than one of these for multiple systems, you can get a power block with 2 USB ports so you donât use up all your outlets. Iâm very pleased with this adapter. Iâm considering getting one more so I can connect my PS2.

Did not work
Attempted to connect 2 different old game consoles to this, and it just doesnât work. It does need to be connected to a power source to work, so it would be nice if it had a light that indicated if it was at least powered on. Just didnât work, maybe mine was faulty.

Works alright, but doesn’t handle dropouts well
Old VHS tapes tend to have dropouts in the signal, and running through this converter it feels like the blank screen you get is even longer than I’m used to, which makes me say that it doesn’t handle the dropouts well. I also like to use VHS for glitching and experimental video effects, and that produces a lot more signal dropouts, so digitizing through this adapter is a bit more annoying, but that’s the territory of intentionally messing with video signals. When running something more traditional through this, it worked fine. The video isn’t upscaled or sharpened, not that I was expecting it, but just in case you are, don’t be disappointed. It’s the same resolution blown up to HD scales, so it’ll be a bit blurry or fuzzy. But knowing that going in, I got what I expected.

Works great
Not every new TV offers the same options for you to use older game systems, DVD, VHS players, etc so was looking for an option. I will be honest I wasnât sure if this would work or not and it actually does perfectly. Now it doesnât work on its own so you do need a power supply but it comes with the right cord at a decent length so you can plug it into one of the special surge protectors or use one of the 100 million USB wall plugs you have.

Worked well to get my PS2 connected to the HDMI TV with no RCA inputs
Was trying to connect an old PlayStation 2 to my TV but realized the new TV had no RCA inputs. I got this because it seemed like a fairly low cost option to get old RCA devices into the TV. I plugged it in and plugged in the USB into the USB on the back of the TV (for power) and it seemed to work fine. Fairly straightforward. Has both 720 and 1080 as options. Didn’t find anything wrong with it.
