Odczyt 110, zapis 30. Beznadziejnie.

I purchased two 8TB Seagate hard drives and they are both fantastic. Sorry to read so many people had problems with these drives. If I have a problem in the future, I will update this review with a full report. But, for now, the 8TB Seagate hard drives are super and make a wise investment.A little tip for you. No matter how reliable a hard drive is, and, no matter other people’s positive experience, one cannot guarantee the retention of data. Mechanical failures do and will happen at some point. Thus, if your data does not exist in two separate places, your data does not exist at all. Even if corrupted data does not cause loss of data, a theft or a fire would also render your data useless.I have been a fan of Seagate hard drives for over two decades. And, as a result, I have purchased similar hard drives in the past. More than a dozen. I have been fortunate enough never to experience hard drive failures with this brand.Despite my luck and considering the aforementioned, I purchased a couple of drives. One to keep on site and one to keep off site. The Good+ The drives are whisper quiet. This is important to me. I find the crunching, grinding and popping of some modern drives annoying and unnecessary. If you like quiet operations, be confident that the drive works almost silently, even under load.+ Transfer speeds read/write are on average between 150 MBps and 200MBps. I use USB 3.0 and achieved these speeds through a lot of trial and error. I have a couple of PCI cards, and noted that if I had drives connected to one PCI card, it would reduce the transfer speeds by half. This issue is most likely related to power. Thus, I opted to use two PCI cards for each hard drive. The Bad- While purchasing an 8TB, you only get a reported 7.2TB. This is because hard drive manufacturers use the accurate description of the terms. The prefix giga, for instance, means a power of 1000. Whereas the correct term for powers of 1024 is gibibyte, though it isn’t often used. Computers, in-particular Windows, has always calculated hard drives as powers of 1024. While hard drive manufacturers use powers of 1000.- On previous models, and possibly other models less than 8TB, there was a physical power switch at the back of the drive. This allowed easy power down, to give the drive a break or put into an idle/archive status without wear. That physical button is no longer present. This results in you either having to turn the drive off at the mains or to disconnect the power cord.Despite these points, the good outweighs the bad. The value is remarkable. And, the drive comes with a 2 year warranty, which seems reasonable. But, as an added precaution, I also purchased an extended 3 year warranty in case failure occurs.I hope you found my review useful and that it helped you make an informed buying decision.
