Great smart button!
Iâm musing this guy to control some outdoor lights via a smart plugin adapter. Setup was super simple for HomeKit, configured the automation, and out the door I went! Works perfectly!Major plus is that each of the five buttons has three presses so itâs 15 different actuations for this device. All of which can be programmed/automated.

Good switch.
Positives:- Works easily with Homekit. Good battery life. Easy to use by kids. The built in magnet is strong and works well.- Works 49 times out of 50.Negatives:- works 49 times out of 50.- the battery cover is too loose and comes off once a month or so and you have to screw it back on.- the legal and homekit text are printed on the sides of the unt and it would be more attractive to print them on the back

Most unreliable Homekit device
I am using 10 of the Onvis door sensor, and they are one of the more reliable Homekit device I have, so imagine my disappointment with this remote button.Right after the pairing, everything works for 3 hours, then all the sudden it no longer trigger scenes. I can still see the button action in the Onvis app, but Homekit does not respond. Couple hours later everything works again, then couple hours later it does not trigger scenes anymore again. This went on for 3 days even after numerous reset and even reboot all of my Apple TV.When it works it is fast and responsive, but it only works 50% of the time and it will stop working for no reason. It is unreliable (I canât say faulty because it likely a firmware bug), at this point I cannot live with it.

Best HomeKit/Thread button option Iâve found
Iâve tried several options for HomeKit switches and this one hands down has been the best so far. Others take a while (3-5 seconds) to activate scenes which is frustrating for guests if they donât know and they hit it multiple times. This one has been near instant in response times and was easy to set up. I love that itâs thread based instead of WiFi since Iâve had some hit or miss experiences with devices that only support 2.4ghz WiFi. I should note that I have a fairly robust thread network throughout my house with several Apple TVs, HomePods, and other border routers, so this likely helps.

Solid
It usually works well, but is sometimes slow and feels a little cheap. However if you need a lot of buttons the options are limited and this gets the job done.

A bit expensive but does the trick
This was a nice way for me to add light switches or in this form buttons to some of our smart outlets. Install and configuration was all easy done via Apple Home app and so far works well. Price is a bit high, especially as the thing doesn’t have a rechargeable battery and runs on a special CR2450 button cell battery – one more battery model to keep at hand.

Intermittently works
This is an updated review. My original review was missing details as to why I gave this product a low rating (and was perhaps too emotionally-based), so I will attempt to explain what issues I’ve experienced with the Onvis Smart Button. While the button paired easily with HomeKit (the Apple Home app), things got more complicated from there. For instance, in order to update the firmware of the device, you must download the Onvis app. Many Thread-based smart home accessories do require a third-party app to update firmware (Eve and Nanoleaf require their app to update firmware), while WeMo Thread-based products do not. The problem is that while the Onvis app easily found the Smart Button, and found that there were no firmware updates available, the app unfortunately made the button inaccessible. This seems to be a known issue with the app, at least according to the HomeKit subreddit. Removing the battery from the Onvis button made the device accessible again.Issues continued, however. While my WiFi network is stable with good coverage throughout my home, the Onvis Smart Button was extremely laggy. I own other working Thread-based and Matter buttons in my Home that generally donât exhibit this behavior. (The one exception is a WeMo Stage Scene Controller Button that seems to be exhibiting a hardware issue â but it still works somewhat consistently.) While the Onvis button seemed to work during the afternoon after programming the button, that evening the button stopped working and became inaccessible. Removing the battery did not make it accessible again. I then attempted a factory reset after removing the device from my Home. I tried to re-add the device to my Home I received an error that the device could not be re-added, even after restarting my phone. Finally, after removing the battery again, and leaving it out of the device for about an hour, I was able to re-add the device to Apple Home. Since then, the device has become inaccessible in the Home app, particularly when Iâve pushed buttons during those times when the switch is lagging. In the meantime, I finally received a response from Onvis that seemingly doubted the error I experienced by claiming that the device, the HS2, is a very stable product. The device seems to be working better now and I havenât decided, as yet, whether to keep it or to return it to Amazon. I wanted to love this product, but my initial experience with it was not ideal, to say the least.

Nice concept but connectivity lags
Love the concept and the ability to hold the buttons down or double press to get additional actions, but you have to press buttons multiple times in order for scenes to trigger and despite having an Apple TV as a home hub close by, it just doesnât seem to work. I have to wave the remote in the air and press button multiple times in order to get things to happen that shouldâve on the first press. Really wanted to like this but will need to try something else.
