Who knew 10GB could be so cheap!?
I bought this along with a couple of 10GB SFP+ PCI-E X8 network cards, a STEAMEMO SFP switch, one DAC cable and one active optical fiber cable. No need for separate transceivers. For $190 total I am flying at 10Gb. I transferred an entire 5GB ISO file between NVME drives in two different computers in under 6 seconds. Awesome! And the STEAMEMO switch gives me 4 2.5Gb ports for the rest of the network.

Firs impressions are nice (you can remove the transceiver from the SFP port)
There are only a few reviews on this product at the time of writing the review, I received the products yesterday (I bought two of them) and they feel nice. One of the reviews talks about how they had to use destructive force to try and remove their SFP transceiver and that was the first thing I tested. You cannot simply pull the transceiver out once it has been inserted into the SFP port, there is a release at the bottom of the transceiver itself where you can push with something thin (I used a box cutter blade because that is what I had closes to me) and while pushing the release up you are able to remove the transceiver. I plan on deploying this in the coming week when the remainder of the supplies arrives and I will update the review when/if things work out. Some other things are that the package is minimal but the switch is wrapped in that special plastic that other sensitive computer components are wrapped in to help prevent static that could potentially harm the switch. There is no instructions on how to use the device, there is a super small quick start guide book that is smaller than a normal sticky note. That would be okay if there was something like a QR code to scan to get to a full set of instructions, but there is not one. If you are buying one of these odds are you have some idea on what you are doing but a physical instruction manual or link to find one would have been nice. The only other thing included in the box is the power adapter, the cord is about 6ft long and there is really nothing special about it.I am excited to work on deploying this and I will make updates as time goes on.

Works well
Have a 10gbps fiber uplink from my main switch and a 10gbps DAC to my main PC, 2.5gbps link for my laptop. All connections perform as expected.

Switch is great! Vlan will ONLY work if you use the SFP ports as a source
This unmanages witch works great for my use, but keep in mind if you are purchasing this because of the vlan option, you need to be using one of the SFP port as your internet source or network source, otherwise everything will just drop and nothing will have connection to the internet.

Took one for the team – DO NOT BUY!
This 4 x 2 no name switch is in the class where most will use with SFP+ transceivers. I put two in and they weren’t cheap. The problem with this horrid _____ is that you can put transceivers in but you cannot remove them later. I had to get both out which literally meant I had to take my Sawzall with metal cutting blades and slice this damn switch in half. Only one of the transceivers was salvageable. I’m out the cost of the switch and transceiver. Jokes on me for trying to save a buck. Now I’m out 80$. Do not buy, or at least don’t put any transceivers in it unless you intend them to be permanent.

The STEAMEMO 6-Port 2.5G Unmanaged Ethernet Switch – a device that sounds like it was designed by a caffeinated octopus with a penchant for networking. Letâs dive into this technological marvel, shall we?Speedy Connections: With 4 x 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports, this switch is like the Usain Bolt of data transfer. Itâs so fast that even your cat videos will load before you can say âmeow.âOne-Key to VLAN: Imagine a secret club where Ports 1-4 sip virtual martinis while maintaining a mysterious connection with the SFP ports. Itâs like a networking masquerade ball – everyoneâs masked, and no one knows whoâs talking to whom.Plug and Play: No need for a PhD in network engineering. Just plug in the power cable, connect the ethernet cable, and voila! Itâs as easy as making toast (unless youâre terrible at making toast).Stable and Fanless: The STEAMEMO switch is cooler than a cucumber. Itâs fanless, which means it wonât interrupt your late-night Netflix binge with annoying humming noises.Versatile Compatibility: Works seamlessly with 2.5G NAS, 4K video, gaming PCs, and even WiFi6 APs. Itâs like the Swiss Army knife of networking – minus the corkscrew (because who needs that in a switch?).In summary, the STEAMEMO 6-Port 2.5G Unmanaged Ethernet Switch is the unsung hero of your home network. It wonât ask for recognition, but itâll silently keep your data flowing faster than a caffeinated octopus on roller skates.

Reliable and cost effective
This is a reliable and cost-effective way to obtain additional speed for gaming or any other purpose that requires extra bandwidth. Great SPF connectors at 10Gbps doesn’t hurt. If you are serious about speed and routing a 10Gb network, you’ll need either a managed SPF or 2.5Gb managed switch. All in all, it is a great deal and I have no issues with performance. This is a good buy.
