This one works.
I bought the other version, the BLE type, first. That one was difficult to pair and then it lost connection after a few weeks and never worked again. This one, however, paired almost immediately. This one uses Zigbee instead of Bluetooth Low Energy and has been much more reliable. I’ve been using it for two weeks and it just works perfectly every single time. The other version, when it was working, wouldn’t always respond. I am not using the Thirdreality hub that’s available. It’s connected straight to my Echo Plus v2 and managed directly in my Alexa app. I highly recommend this one over the other version, especially if you don’t have one of the new Echo Plus devices. It was also quite easy to install. You just unscrew the switch plate, slip the plastic mounts over the screws, and screw them back in. Perfect for my rented apartment where I can’t change the switch out. The unit snaps onto the mounts easily, just make sure it’s lined up carefully so you don’t put to much stress on the mounts. They’ll break like the plastic mount that kept CDs in the case. I find lining it up and snapping it on left to right works best. I bought the pack of extra mounts just in case. If it ever gets accidently knocked off, I’ll be glad I have them.

So Simple!
I bought the first of these, the starter kit which includes the required hub, to replace a horrible in-wall switch from a large US brand (which will remain unnamed). That switch, when it worked, was semi-OK but caused the LED floodlights it was installed for to flicker painfully and it frequently lost connection to the network and had to be retrained every time. This new wholly-external system is a wonder by comparison. It does one thing and does that very well. The last of three that were installed for outside lights took all of five minutes to install and connect and all three devices worked first time out of the box. Very impressive little devices! Negative: minor, but they do make a mechanical whirring sound as they flip the underlying toggle switch up or down but that lasts for perhaps a second and is not all that loud.

Constantly disconnect from Apple HomeKit.
I have now purchased 7 of these, along with their Matter hub. While set up is quite easy and they do initially connect to Apple HomeKit, be prepared for repeated “device is not responding” issues. This can often be noticed before you try to control them via HomeKit by the devices blinking blue. This means they have lost connection to the internet. Taking the batteries out and putting them back in will most often resolve this. However, sometimes you have to completely removed the device from the Third Reality app (which then removes it from HomeKit) and set it up all over again. I have never had the batteries go below 70% so this is not a power issues.Short version: they are flaky and not dependable.Long version: I live in a 900 sq. ft. home (very small) with high speed wifi coverage throughout. I have an Eero pro router with 2 other Eero access points (overkill for such a small space). Aside from these 7 Third Reality Zigbee Smart Switches, I have Phillips Hue Bulbs and Eufy cameras throughout the house and outside. These 7 switches were needed for lights that do not take regular bulbs (and could not use Phillips Hue). I am renting, otherwise I would use Lutron Casseta switches. In any case, everything in my HomeKit home works perfectly except for these Third Reality switches. They are not dependable. Save your money and look elsewhere. If you own your home, the Lutron Casseta switches are bit more expensive but they work flawlessly (I have had them in my entire other home for 4 years and never had a single issue with HomeKit or otherwise. To this day, they are operating flawlessly).

good but needs help
i was excited to see these on lighting deals so i picked up a couple to try out and use with a temp/humid sensor and a switch to exaust fan in the bathroom. instrustions are not that clear, they are to a extent but cant figure out what the extra parts are for, no help in the tiny instrustion manual that only tell you how to pair them if you need to repair, hold 20 seconds. thats the manual basically. i didnt know how to install them untill i looked on the amazon post on a not much detailed information on how to install. but the pairing was as fast as you can get with zigbee home assistant. a lot of other company devices are slow to pair are or unlclear. so far its nice, just wish i can use this the way i wanted it to be used in automations.

Working Great
I needed something exactly like this to push a switch up or down…. hard-wiring a new smart switch was not an option because it’s a “high-low” fan switch and I just don’t have that kind of expertise I guess (or a smart high-low switch isn’t available). The zigbee easily connected to my SmartThings hub (2015 “2nd Generation”) as well as Alexa and Google. It takes a couple of AAA batteries for power, and the switch can be manually operated by pushing the button on the outside of the switch.

Signal issues will render operation dead
If the device stops responding due to signal loss, you need to remove the batteries and plug them back in in order to continue working when signal is better. This makes it really hard to troubleshoot or identify signal issues vs bad switch. Returning item to find a better solution for my application

So easy to install no extra equipment
I got this by pure accident. I had ordered other that required hubs and were a real pain to instal and very hard to get Alexa to access, I wish I had ordered. More of these little hidden gems at the same time i order some others that required a hub and after weeks Alexa is still having problems recognizing them. And if you have a double switch or more panel donât even thing about installing these Babies in close proximity. If you activate one youâll activate them all.

So I didnât like them
Way too bulky and the mechanism kept missing the switch like every 6th time I did it. So made it kind of useless. Great idea but just not executed well for my particular switches I guess idk. I decided to just get the smart button. Much smaller but I do have to do other things to be able to use it. Which Iâm willing to do because I canât deal with this huge thing and also the noise of it actually switching the light switch is freaking loud. Way too loud in my opinion to be a viable solution.
