Works like a champ on my QNAP TS-453be!
My QNAP TS-453be only came with two 1Gbe ports and I wanted to increase the transfer speed. I plugged this doohickey into one of the available USB 3.2 ports on the back and it was instantly recognized as a 2.5Gbe network adapter in the QNAP admin portal. Moved some of the virtual switches from the old 1Gbe ports to point to this one and instantly my file transfer speed went from about 89Mbs/s to about 380Mbe/s when sending movie files up to the NAS. Similar improvements were seen in the opposite direction. This is cheaper by far than any half-height 2.5Gbe network card offered by QNAP and allows as many 2.5Gbe ports as you have USB 3.2 ports! (USB 3.2 supports up to 10Gbe I believe so this adapter is hardly stressing the USB throughput). In short, an EXCELLENT way to upgrade your NAS transfer speed on those boxes that support it. Heck, my QNAP didn’t download any drivers that I’m aware of – it just WORKED!Not sure on the longevity but I’ve been running it for a month now with zero problems. Now if they would just come out with a 10Gbe version! (Keeps fingers crossed)Highly Recommend!

Works well
Works well, does what it’s supposed to. I use it on Ubuntu. When testing throughput with iperf I get 2.41 gbit/s with TCP, which essentially 2.5gbit/s with the overhead 👌 The latency is not as good as PCIe though, but expected for USB 3 I guess?

Works good for PC but not Raspberry Pi
I bought this USB to 2.5Gb ethernet adapter. I was a little bit nervous because the previous adapter bought from another brand didn’t work. To my pleasant supprise, this one worked very well on my PC. I just plugged it in and it worked perfectly. The transmission speed achieves about 260 MBytes per second. However, its transmision speed on my Raspberry Pi was very unstable. Sometimes, the box stopped working after testing the adapter for a while. I found from web searching that this is not the problem of the adapter but the soft ware of the Pi, so I still give it a 5 star rating. Just hope Raspberry Pi will fix their software (driver) implementation soon.

Does what it’s supposed to! Good speeds, no troubles.
Just make sure to get the driver from Realtek to get full speed on windows! I wasn’t getting full gigabit speeds from my Netgear router to the gigabit ethernet port on my laptop dock. So I figured the right USB adapter with 2.5 gig would give me some headroom. So, haven’t tested above 1 gig speed, but this hits full 1 gig speeds with no fuss, stays cool. But keep in mind that while it was plug and play on an updated Windows 10 laptop, I wasn’t getting full gig speeds. After reading some tips online, I got the Realtek provided drivers and that did the trick! I like that the case is at least a little vented, but sadly, the one, small criticism I have is the case is plastic. Aluminum would have been nice. But at least with my usage, at gig speeds, not 2.5 gig, I’ve never noticed it above the room temperature.Good solid USB NIC!!!PS. I see people complaining it’s not Linux compatible. I haven’t tried it, but looks like Realtek submitted driver code to to thr Linux source for the 5.1 Kernel? So, should work without any fussing on modern Linux. Older Linux may require some fiddling or may not work.

Get 2.5Gbe almost instantly!
This is an excellent adapter. Just plug it into your compatible USB port hook up your network cable and voila! You have 2.5Gbe now!I used it on my older TS-433 QNAP NAS and my transfers to/from my NAS went from ~100 MBytes per second to a whopping ~269 MBytes per second. I didn’t think my NAS could transfer that fast, but I checked the disk throughput (4 HDD Raid 5) and it had plenty of bandwidth.A great buy to easily add 2.5Gbe performance to your PC or other equipment. Just make sure your USB is fast enough and you’re good to go.

Low Transfer Speeds
The adapter worked great for a few days but has not been able to achieve 2.5Gb level speeds since. Currently only seeing 300Mb speeds. Thought it was the distance from the switch but reducing distance did not resolve the issue. Also terminated new cables and still nothing. The adapter just gave up after a few days. I do not recommend it.

USB A adapter doesn’t work at full speed
Connecting directly with the USB C connector seems to get me full speed. but using the supplied USB A adapter drops the speed to what appears to be USB 2 speeds, around 300Mb/s. if you’re intending to use this in USB A, I recommend you get a different device

Inexpensive and impressive performance
I’ve tested this adapter on multiple systems doing large file transfers (2-3TB+) and it is able to maintain 2.5Gbit speeds (260-270MBs) for the entire transfer. It does get warm, but not too hot. I wasn’t expecting much from this at its price point, but have been very happy with its performance. I tested this against another Realtek based USB 2.5Gbit adapter and the other is only able to get about 170-180MBs even in short bursts making this one a much better deal and closer to an actual 2.5Gbit internal NIC.
