Great PoE switch, especially for the price
I previously had the 8 port Aumox PoE switch but needed more ports for additional PoE cameras we are putting in next month. I have had this switch for a little while now and can happily report its just as good as its smaller sibling. Obviously more ports is always better! It seems to be able to handle all the traffic I’ve thrown at it without a hiccup. We have a gigabit internet connection and this switch is the main switch after our router, (but is connected to other switches down stream) with approximately 30 devices. It also powers my Ubiquiti UAP AC pro access point with zero issues.Pros:Looks greatWell made solid chassisGreat network performance/throughputPoE power is above what most devices need and more than a lot of other PoE switches offer (30w vs 15w)Price is greatEase of useNeutral:Fan is very quiet, but its not silent. You’d notice it in a dead silent room, but even my work laptop Lenovo T495s’s fan is louder than whats in the switch.Cons:Only con so far is that the fan is always on, I wish it was thermally controlled so it would turn on only when needed. But as mention in neutral, it’s pretty quiet so its only an issue if you need total silence.

It’s Been A Year So Far
Well, I purchased this item last February and so far it’s been running with no issues whatsoever. It’s really handy because now I have a network infrastructure in my house and I get PoE to my devices, like my Ubiquiti AP. I hear people talk about the fan issues, but it’s never bothered me. I have it mounted on a rack in my closet with a Cisco ASA, and that ASA is much louder. For the price, I think this switch is worth it.

Affordable Solidly Built Unmanaged POE Switch – Plug and Play
Pros:Solid buildEasy plug and playPOE provides more than enough powerNeutral:Fan constantly running – it’s still pretty quiet and others might find issue if absolute silence is necessaryCons:NoneI was looking for an affordable POE switch to run 6 POE security cameras and 6-8 wired gigabit connections to computers and devices around the house. I also wanted the ability to add or swap out the fixed cameras with PTZ (remote control) cameras that require alot more power. Included with the switch is a power cord, quick install card, registration card, and brackets to rack mount the switch. I’ve had the switch running for about 5 days connected to 6 fixed POE cameras, 3 computers, 2 smart TV’s and 2 Amazon 4k Firesticks. Everything has been great nothing ever went down or dropped connection and the POE to the cameras has been perfect. As stated by others, the fan is always running so it’s not silent. This didn’t bother me as I plan to mount it in a rack where the noise isn’t an issue. Using a decibel meter app on my phone, from about 12 inches away, the fan was only 43-45 decibels (library, bird calls) and I think would still be fine for most situations where absolute silence isn’t necessary.I partially set this up in the living room to take video and pictures. Connected were 2 fixed POE cameras and 1 Amazon 4K Firestick all streaming video and had no problems. While baby shark was streaming from youtube via the firestick, the cameras were streaming to my laptop (connected via wifi).

Sturdy case, but questions about power budget and fan gets very loud over time
I replaced a 5-port POE switch to expand the number of cameras I am running. The switch is well built and meets my requirement for 10/100/1000 on all ports plus two uplink ports. The 250W power budget is more than adequate for my application. Installation is simple — plug and play, and the performance meets expectations. If possible, I would deduct a half star for a design issue: I am a big fan of the activity, speed, power indicator lights being either on the ports or clearly visible on the face of the case. The placement of the lights on this switch (below the ports with up/down arrows indicating port position) are very difficult to read unless mounted high on a rack or at eye level. The inclusion of rack mounts are a plus.Update 12/10/2021: It appears that the Aumox 18-port GB switch does not delivery all the power it is rated for. Based on the performance issue described below I am reducing the rating from 5 to 4 stars. The problem is as follows:Since my initial review I’ve added two (2) PoE PTZ and one (1) PoE non-PTZ turret cameras for a total of nine (9) cameras, seven @ 15.4W max (7.2W avg per specs) and 2 @ 30w max should be well within the 250w budget of this switch with lots of headroom to spare. However, I started experiencing signal drops which I traced to power loss on the cameras at 1 or two ports. Unplugging and switching ports around and restarting the switch would work temporarily (and sometimes not.) Uplinking from the Aumox to another PoE switch and moving a couple of cameras off the Aumox on to the uplinked switch solved the problem.Update 11/2/2023: Reducing this product to three stars. Add me to the list of reviewers reporting loud excruciatingly annoying fan noise. The grinding sound is audible even in an equipment closet with the door closed.

I was looking for a switch to power from access points and cameras and came across this Aumox SG518P switch. It seems to be just the right switch for the job.Pros:1. The boot speed is instant. Upon plugging it in, it powers up within 2 seconds. That’d much faster than some other switches I’ve tried in the past.2. It comes with rack mounts!!! The rack mounts attach with 3 included screws on each side. They fit my rack perfecty. Also the screws are easy to screw in/get access to.3. POE Works (most important feature). I was able to test 802.3af as that is what my UniFI AC-Lite and U6-Lite (The WiFi6 model) support– Note, for others that wish to buy this switch, make sure your UniFi APs support 802.3af. The older ones prior to board revision 33 (32 and lower) DO NOT support 802.3af and only support passive 24v POE which this switch does not do. I have a mix of older and newer UniFi APs and only some of them work. The compatible ones indicate 802.3af on the back side of them for eay verification. If you cannot get to them, go to the UniFi Controller, manage the AP, scroll to the bottom and download the JSON file. You will be able to see the board revision in that file for each AP. 33 and higher is compatible.4. Fan noise is there, but it’s pretty quiet. Even under a desk I couldn’t hear it. When it’s mounted in my rack, it’s inaudible due to the fans for the router and server. Noise is not a concern whatsoever.5. Plugging in non-POE equipment did not damage it. Some cheaper switches can, this one does not. Have tried a bunch of different NICs, Xbox, my TV, PC, an Asus NAS and Synology NAS. No issues.Cons:1. Is there a white or silver model to match my UniFi Gear? :D2. Unmanaged, but for a managed switch you would typically pay a lot more. I’m totally fine that this is unmanaged. The VLAN switch does work though in my testing if you need to use VLANs.All in all an awesome switch that doesn’t break the bank! A+++!

I’ll be honest, most of my network hardware are branded with recognizable names. However, the features that attracted me to this switch were that it was both Gigabit and had POE on all ports, something that I couldn’t find in other switches in the same price point. Most either had only some of the ports powered (16-port but with only 8 POE ports), or were fully managed (L2 or L3) which meant they cost an arm and a leg. This switch excels in situations where a managed device is not required, namely, for connecting bunches of network appliances (IP Cameras, WIfi A/Ps, Phones etc)A surprise feature for me was the “VLAN” switch. Technically, I think this is actually called PVLAN (Private VLAN) or Port Isolation. This allows you to isolate the interfaces from each other at the flick of a switch, and without having to mess with VLANs in your router. When the feature is turned on, devices plugged into the interfaces can no longer see each other but can only see whatever is plugged into the “Uplink” ports (17&18). One application for this would be a quick and painless way to setup guest wifi where you want to prevent anyone connected via the AP from seeing anything plugged into the other device ports. See my pics for what a device scan of the network looks like with the PVLAN feature enabled and disabled. One feature that I would have liked to see is some kind of indication on the ports to tell if plugged in devices are drawing POE or not. I have this feature on another switch and it’s super handy. All in all, I can see myself getting a few more of these down the road for future phone or camera jobs. Good price and just the right features.

Pro’s: simplified my home network system. Con’s: one port dead on arrival. No point in returning it for this. I ordered this unit with more ports then I would expect to use so one port was not a issue.

My Synology router only has 4 ports and with the growing list of devices in my office, I needed more connections. Sure, I could have gone wireless, but somethings I just want hard-wired.Currently, I have the following connected:1) PC2) Smart TV3) Xbox Series X4) NAS5) MacBook Pro6) VOIP7) Network PrinterAll devices are connected and I haven’t had any issues between them all. It’s important to note here is that the PC also serves as Plex server with the data on the NAS. There is no data lag transfer between any of the devices. Part of the reason of getting this port is to also to start adding security cameras into the mix and knowing that this switch does POE made it a no brainer. The build itself is solid. It’s a solid metal casing and there is definitely some weight behind it. It does come with rack mounts that I haven’t used because I don’t have a rack in the office, it’s cool to see I could mount it. There is slight hum to it but it isn’t loud enough to be a distraction. It boots up amazingly quick; likely 2-3 seconds from plugging in and devices registering. I’m super impressed with this and highly recommend! Now to find some cameras to attach to this switch.

This is a review of the Aumox SG518P 18 port POE Ethernet switch. I bought the switch to support the infrastructure of Unifi access points and cameras. And the product supports my whole infrastructure. The switch supports both POE (14.5W) and POE+ (30W). The switch provides up to 250 watts of power. Rack-mount brackets included with the product was a big plus for me.The switch also provides a port isolation switch on the front panel, that when turned on, isolates ports 1 throughout 16 from each other while still allowing each port to communicate with ports 17 & 18 (the uplink ports). Itâs obviously not a replacement for a managed capability, but a big step forward capacity-wise.Itâs important to mention, that switch has active cooling, so itâs producing some noise. The noise level is comparable to UDM Pro, and very quiet.Overall, the switch is a nice product with a very attractive price point. 5 stars.
