Great reference book
Very thorough. It’s a great reference for any 3D printing issues you might encounter. It’s nice to have a go-to for when issues pop up. The author is very responsive. I emailed him before I received the book and he got right back to me. The first part of the book, in my option, is better to read through while the second part is more of a reference for when a certain problem occurs with a print. Great book!

Great info. Solved my problems. Need the Emailed Pics. See amazon description.
The book is well written. Info from technical to practical. Covers dozens of failure mechanisms and how to fix them. There are pictures of 36 different failure types. Out of 330 pages 6 are used for pics. Each picture is about 1in x 3in and of poor print quality. The 1st 2 pics are of “nozzle too close to build plate” and “nozzle too far from build plate”. The pictures look identical. Therefore the book is nearly USELESS for identifying YOUR failure; until Sean send you beautiful digital pictures, then it all makes sense. The Amazon description says to email the author and he will send high res pics. Sean did so and even through in some advise on my failure. With legible pics the book is a 5 star.

Great for Beginnners
I find this book to have been quite a handy addition to my 3d printing material I learn from. Overall, it gives you the basics of 3d printing (materials science, how that related to 3d printing) and helps you to go through the critical thinking process of what can go wrong with your 3d printer

Worth every penny!
One of the best written and most useful books I have. Jammed pack full of information, but still easy to read. Due to a particular purchase, it became necessary to do some learning and troubleshooting. The ideals, hacks, hints and explanations were not expected, nor was the Cura setting section. Though I still have a lot to learn, my comfortability and understanding level has gone way up quickly due to the information provided in the book. Access to the digital version and higher resolution pictures have been helpful as well. The personal response during the request for the digital version and feedback on my current issue was unexpected and appreciated.

So much more than the title promised! THE best 3D printing book I’ve found, by a wide margin.
The title of this book doesn’t begin to do it justice. This book is 334 pages and diagnosing print failures doesn’t even start until page 124… The preceding pages contain a wealth of information about 3D printers. From using what you’ve got, making adjustments, recommended tools, upgrades, and a lot of tips to just run your printer and get better prints. I had originally planned to read the book up to where troubleshooting failures began, then skim the rest so I’d know where to go look if and when I had failures. I now recommend reading the book straight through – then keeping it as a handy reference. There is so much good preventative maintenance and just general knowledge embedded in the troubleshooting section that it’s well worth reading. Particularly the section on slicer configurations. The book is *almost* exclusively about FDM/FFM printers (those that melt and extrude plastic), but there is a chapter devoted to resin printing. I wouldn’t recommend the book for someone working exclusively with resin, but the resin chapter was welcome, because if you’re printing with one technology you’re probably eyeballing the other. The book is thoroughly illustrated with many photos as you would hope for a book of this nature. What’s more, if you send proof of purchase to the author (details in the book) he’ll send you a digital copy with high resolution photos you can really zoom in on.This book is absolutely the most helpful book on 3D printing (FDM/FFM) that I have discovered. It is not the best for those who know nothing about 3D printing and have not yet made a print. Some knowledge of the basics is presupposed. Still, if you get a printer you will ultimately want this book.Highly recommended!

Good Book
The author has put tremendous effort into this book. There is a fortune of technical information and the book gives a broad overview of many of the 3D printing problems one may encounter. It is a very good starting point for problem solving and the more experience you gain, the more valuable the book becomes. There are two reasons I’ve not given it five stars:1. It doesn’t have an index which makes it very difficult for an outright beginner to use. If you are a beginner and have a “blob”, then without an index with the word “blob” in it, it is difficult to find the section in the book that deals with “blobs”.2. The images aren’t high resolution and when it comes to bed-levelling, it is vitally important to be able to see clearly and close up what a first layer print should look like. Although the author will send high resolution PDF files on request, it doesn’t help if you need to solve a problem immediately. An index and high resolution photos would have made this book an outright winner.

Really helpful
Really good book for beginners and it teaches really nice and not too high language.I recommend for anyone who has a 3d printer, but maybe not resin kind…

There is a LOT of information in this book!
If people would buy this book before buying a printer they’d have a much better idea of what printer/features they should be looking for. After they get a printer they’d have far fewer “why did it do that?” moments as they’d have a lot of information to help them avoid getting into problems to begin with. The book is very easy to read and the information is well organized. The chapter on filament science is very helpful too.

Ho provato a seguire vari video su YouTube dove trovavo consigli diversi e spesso contrastanti su una stessa problematica. Questo libro finalmente mi ha aiutata a migliorare la qualità di stampa dei miei progetti. Straconsiglio

An excellent resource to have on hand, when the 3D printer goblins show their faces (& they will), this book is comprehensive enough to get them back to which ever axis they belong & smooth them right out.
