Works perfectly!
I’ve had my car with wired Apple Car Play for five years and never knew there was a way to convert it to wireless. This is great because it connects almost instantly and keeps me from having to have my phone plugged in constantly. I looked at a lot of different models and finally decided to try this one because of its compact size. I’m glad I did. I highly recommend this adapter.

Works great!
I have tried two other CarPlay dongles for my 2024 Honda Passport and had given up. I tried this one after researching again. What a nice surprise! It paired within 30 seconds. I tested it playing Pandora, sending a text, using Waze and making a call. Then I turned off the car and exited. When we got back in later, everything worked fine. A nice surprise.

Simple Setup and Use
My wired Android Auto connection is, for lack of a better word, flaky. It’s likely that I need to change the charging/data cable as it’s been in use for over two years. At this point any bump, shake, rattle, or roll and I lose the connection to my car’s headset. It gets really frustrating because it’s almost always assured that I’m going to lose the connection as soon as I really need my maps app to tell me where to go. Having to then unplug, re-plug, and then hope Android Auto will connect has become tiresome. Rather than replace the wired cable, I decided to look for a wireless option that would free me from the vagaries of my wired connection. This unit seemed to have solid reviews and now having installed and used it, I have to concur. Setup was a breeze – plug it into the car’s USB port, open my phone and search for new Bluetooth connections, select the adapter and go. It took less than 20 seconds for everything to recognize one another and then I had my Android Auto up and running wirelessly. Subsequent connections are at least as fast as my wired connections were – and the stability of the connection between the adapter and my phone means I won’t be struggling through multiple reconnects – especially when I need everything to just work. This adapter does exactly what I need it to do straight away. As others have noted, do NOT attempt to do an update to the adapter until you’ve tested to see if everything works as shipped. There are instructions on how to perform an upgrade, but it’s not necessary in the vast majority of cases.

Works as advertised but be prepared for some tricky installation steps
I ordered this to use in my 2020 Kia Telluride. When I received it, I tried plugging it into my car’s Apple Carplay USB slot and the light on the adapter flashed blue indicating it was working. I checked my phone and while my Bluetooth settings could “see” the device, it wouldn’t connect. So I took the adapter into the house and plugged it into a USB charging block. At that point, I was able to follow some of the instructions which went like this:1. On my iphone in Wifi settings, I chose Carplay-xxxx.2. In my Safari app on my iphone, I went to the IP address in the intructions 192.68.1.101 (make sure this is typed exactly like this… it won’t work if you add anything like www to it).3. A page will come up with an Update button at the bottom… I tapped that Update button.4. It took a while to update the software, but once it was finished (there will be a progress bar and it will tell you when it’s finished), I took the device back to my car, plugged it into the Carplay USB slot and then went to Bluetooth settings on my phone.5. Check your bluetooth settings. If Carplay-xxxx (where the x’s represent numbers) shows up as a connected device, tap it, choose “Forget device” and return to the main Bluetooth settings screen.6. Under “other devices” at the bottom, choose Carplay-xxxx (again, the x’s represent numbers specific to your device). This should work but make sure you give it time. It took my car several minutes to show the correct Carplay screen even after my phone said it was connected via Bluetooth. I hope those instructions help. I was about to give up on this device when then Carplay screen finally came up. So, my advice is to give it more time than you think it should need when it’s connecting the first time.

Easy installation, reliable connectivity, superb performance, excellent audio quality
This thing is very cool! I was growing tired of having to unplug and re-plug-in the USB cord from my phone to the car’s USB port. Music would stop playing, but if I unplugged and then plugged the cord back in, it played again. I installed this device and selected it from the Android Auto app under the Bluetooth devices discovered, and immediately had a wireless connection. I had to guess at the device Bluetooth name, it was not stated in the instructions, or maybe I missed it, but it was easy to figure out. The audio quality seems better over this device’s wireless connection than I previously had with a USB cord. I turned off the car, then re-started it and my music once again started playing. I did that several times to be sure and it linked and began playing where it had left off. So far so good! I tried several different audio apps and operated them from my phone screen. Operating from the phone provided me more choices than I usually see operating from the car’s touch screen. The car screen gives me choices drawn from what I previously played, for example, it displays the SiriusXM stations recently played, but the phone displays all stations including the extra IP-only channels. Five different audio sources from the phone worked flawlessly and there was an easily discernable increase in the gain over the wireless connection. Texts come through to the car LCD and my Google Maps worked perfectly. Color me very happy that I can maintain a better connection and no longer lose the connection due to a bumpy road. This capability should be standard on all automobiles — maybe it is, my car is a 2022 model.
