Quick Delivery
Did not like spending this much but the refurbished units did not have good print quality from other suppliers. This unit was delivered quickly and seems to be the original Brother material but most important of all, works well – at least in the first 3 days of use. Decided to give this drum a try because my MFC4800 is the only one that fits in a drawer in my desk. A note of caution is be sure no staples are hidden in the pages in the feeder or glue of any kind on the edge of tear off sheets. These will ruin an expensive drum.

Does not seem to be a genunie NEW unit in spite of “Retail Packaging”.
This was advertised as “Retail Packaging”. It was a Broither Drum in a Brother box. HOWEVER, the box was not new appearing, and the foil wrapper of the drum was open. It performed poorly, with light copies and stripes. I strongly suspect that this was a “refurbished” drum put into a “Retail Package”. If this is the case, then this vendor should be barred from Amazon.

Genuine Brother DR-250 drum unit is the ONLY way to go for superior results; do not buy a compatible/clone
As with the toner cartridge, only use the genuine Brother replacement drum unit for best & superior results. Replacing with a new drum unit renews the ultimate crisp, clean printing of a laser printer. This results in a far cheaper per page print cost (for us at ~2.1 cents per print including the price of paper, toner and the drum). I personally know several other Brother MFC-series laser printer all-in-one owners, and many still own printers that are much older than mine. They have shared their experience that “compatible” “clone” drums just don’t cut it.Here is my cost-use analysis for my Brother MFC-6800.Drum = 25,000 prints = 0.0054 cents per page (based on $135 price @ Amazon.com)Toner = 3,600 prints = 0.0072 cents per page (based on $25.92 per cartridge @ Amazon.com)Paper = .0082 cents per page (based on $41.00 / case of 5,000 sheets @ Sams Club)TOTAL: 2.08 cents / page (INCLUDES Drum, Toner & Paper costs)Type of printing: Invoices, price sheets, promotions (heavy toner use due to graphics).Other brands of laser printers have you change a drum unit with each toner cartridge. While that approach ensures the drum never gets dirty enough, your cost per print is far higher, with Consumer Reports calculating toner costs along at around 3 cents per page for other laser printers. Our Brother MFC-6800 printer is now coming up on 6 years old and it has topped 70,000 prints. I expect this printer to last several more years. Not bad considering the original $249.00 investment.

No complaints
This unit is working very well – no complaints. Have to wait to see how many copies it is good for, as I just put it into service.

It Just Works!
Received the replacement drum for my elderly (over 8 years old) Brother 6800MFC. Took about four minutes to install and my output was back to ‘new’ quality. Excellent product – based on my experience with Brother monochrome MFC’s, you can’t go wrong – over 8 years of heavy home and home-office use – still works perfectly. Even better – when I replaced my desktop with a new one and Windows 7, it was immediately recognized and works even better than it did with XP

Used Drum Unit
This wasn’t a new unit, it was previously used. the only truth was it did come in the retail packaging. It did work but still seeing some fading but not as much as the one I replaced. Unfortunately I had no choice but to keep it since school had already started and I needed to print reports.

Almost good as new
Ordered this and for the price can’t complain very much. A little less than perfect quality but overall good enough especially at the price.

Page printout is not uniform, don’t know if there is any troubleshooting techniques to rectify this problem.

Disappointed that the drum comes in a genuine brother packaging, yet quality not up to expectations. There are three thick lines across half the page with each fax and the page is rather pale. Actually considering going back to the drum that I replaced this with

So far so good. One slight flaw, though. The printed sheet has three, fairly visible, equally spaced, horizontal lines. I am not overly concerned , however. What should I expect from a refurbished, inexpensive product?
