Customers say
Customers like the effectiveness, ease of use, and ice retention of the therapeutic thermal compress. They mention it works beautifully, is simple to setup, and keeps the water cold for a long time. Some are also happy with the value for money and recovery time. However, some customers have reported that the tube connections and pad developed a pinhole leak. Opinions are mixed on the build quality.

PERFECT FOR TKR swelling
I had total knee replacement surgery recently and absolutely love this product. Its easy to assemble and cools as advertised. A work around to having to load ice cubes;i froze 4, 16.9 oz water bottles. Made it a lot easier than having to add and dump ice.Its light weight and works better than the expensive machine the hospital rented me.Timer works great 20, 40, 60 minute timer. Coolest temp I got was around 38. Cooler when full lasts about 6 hours before you need to change out the frozen water bottles. Very pleased!

Great machine at a great price with incredible customer service
I just had knee surgery and knew that I would need to ice the knee to reduce swelling and pain. Having tried using ice packs in the past, I know that they can be annoying, need replenishing far too often and can be a wet mess. I found this machine on Amazon and the price seemed very reasonable. The machine works great. It is easy to set up and to use and now, on my second day after surgery, I can attest to its doing an excellent job.I had a couple of questions regarding the placement of the knee pad and setting the temperature of the machine so I emailed the company’s customer service. I got a reply within hours, from one of the founders of the company – one of the joys of doing business with a small company. He was very friendly, informative, answered my questions thoroughly. Overall this is a great purchase in every way and I highly recommend it if you need an icing machine.I have a couple of recommendations for using the machine. Instead of ice cubes, I put plastic bottles of water in the freezer – opening them and pouring out a little water first so that they didn’t explode when they expand. I have found that when I fill the machine to the water level (without ice,) four 16.9 fluid oz water bottles will raise the water level in the machine to the recommended height. I freeze eight bottles at a time, so that when one batch is no longer cold enough, I can simply swap out the next batch. It’s a lot easier than dealing with ice cubes and having to pour out all the water every time you want to lower the temperature again.I use a thin dish cloth between the knee pad and my skin to avoid cold burns. That does make it seem like it isn’t quite as cold, but if you leave it on longer than the recommended 20 minutes at a time it is very effective still and quite tolerable. You can’t set the water temperature in the machine – for me it usually starts out around 42 degrees and after about an hour to 1-1/2 hours with the four water bottles of ice it gets up to about 50. That has been sufficient. (And I imagine that if you could set the water temperature it might make the machine much more expensive.) But according to the founder of the company who answered my questions, if you need the water colder than that, you can add salt to it and that will greatly lower the temperature. (Be careful, however, about something that cold on your skin for any extended period of time.)The bottom line is that I am extremely happy with this purchase. My knee and I thank PhysioNatural greatly.

Great relief for knee injury!
Wonderfully smart idea to maintain cool temps on sore knee that I recently injured. Instead of asking famiy every 10 minutes to replace-out a cold pack, simply set-up this machine to keep a continue cooling pack flowing (using this cold water recycling system). I also use 8-10 ten ounce bottles with water inside that I freeze, to add to the cooler with water and traditional ice to the level. Turn on the 60 minute timer and let it work. The temp gauge on the outside tells you the temp, so you will know at any time what the temp is. 40-45 is ideal. And the cooler does keep that water cold, as the thick insulated hose sends the cooling water back and forth. Recommend! (Note: If you have a bandaged wound that you are setting the pad on, put that part inside a plastic bag, or even plastic store bag, as the condensation from the pad will pool water drops on it. You don’t want that wetting your bandages).

Exceptional post surgery pain relief
This cold therapy machine has really helped during recovery from knee replacement surgery. Having a submersible pump to circulate cold water works much better than other products that use an air pump to pressurize the container and âpulseâ the cold water into the cuff. This machine continuously circulates the water for consistent cooling in the cuff. I found that a full load of water and ice lasts about 12 hours. However, instead of ice, I prefer to freeze 16 ounce water bottles, the cooler holds 6-7 at a time, which also lasts about 12 hours. I have two âsetsâ of water bottles, one in the cooler and the other in the freezer; I just switch them out and refreeze the bottles, works great! The knee cuff wraps securely your knee but the cooling pad only covers the top half of your knee. Initially after surgery, I needed the cold therapy to cover the underside of my knee as well as the top, so I purchased the Hip Pad cuff too. You can wrap that cuff completely around your knee and it works really well. After the first week or so after surgery, I only need the cold therapy the upper portion of my knee and am back to using the knee cuff. Having both cuffs available, depending on how your post-op recovery proceeds, is a great option. Both cuffs are very comfortable and at night I just leave the cuff on my knee and when needed I just press the timer button for 20 minutes, get relief, and fall back to sleep. I donât have to worry about leaving it run for too long since it automatically shuts off. This cold therapy machine is a great product! It is quiet, easy to use, helps reduce the swelling and provides a great deal of pain relief. This works much better than frozen gel-packs, which can get too cold for your skin. I highly recommended this product!
