Three Stars
Speed isn’t phenomenal, around what I get with WiFi, but it helps at times when the neighborhood is saturated.

Works better than some, but nowhere near advertised speed.
I bought this to extend a customer’s network into their Mother-In-Law suite. I tested it in my own home to assess it’s performance. While it is about 15% to 20% faster than the ZyXEL 500 Mbps Mini Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter Kit (PLA4201KIT), my best results were still only around 40Mbps. While my home is only 1700 sq. ft., the breaker panel and my office are on opposite ends of the home. Connecting one unit in the office and another in the living room I was able to get 30Mbps, while placing the second unit in my kitchen I got 33Mbps. All three locations tested were on the same bus in the breaker panel, so these results were nothing to write home about. I decided to test speed across a connection on the same breaker, and only then did I see the 40Mbps speed. This was literally going across the room in my office. I doubt anyone would buy these merely to escape running an ethernet cable along two walls to get across a room, but I could be wrong.Pros:Fair price, reliable operation, simple installation, zero-config setup, and works with competitors’ Powerline Networking devices.Con: Nowhere near advertised speeds.Overall impression: Decent performance for your money. If you need to extend your wired network into rooms that don’t already have ehternet this will get the job done, but it won’t be a speed demon. It has plenty of speed to handle streaming rich media to your smart TVs and set-top boxes.

Great way to add a computer to your wired network
I purchased this device after a friend mentioned that he had bought one. In my old house I get an extremely weak wireless signal upstairs, this device give me good connection that works well upstairs. Now the computer upstairs can effectively use the the internet!

Beware of circuits!!!
Just bough it and tested it. Very easy setup. It worked fine when connected to plugs in the same circuit, but it didn’t work when connected to plugs in different circuits. I followed some of the advices given by other reviewers but it didn’t work. The gadget works well IF BOTH PLUGS ARE IN THE SAME CIRCUIT. Otherwise, it’s not working at all.

Good Value for a Reasonable Cost
They were easy to install, and they work as advertised. This is being used in an apartment to extend a network printer (wired, not wireless) that is located in a different room from the router. Basically it was plug and play, following the simple instructions that were included. They’ve been in use for almost a year now with no issues at all, they just work.Having said that, I’m not using them in a large house or using them with a computer and browsing the web, etc. so not sure how they perform in that situation. It was worth the $30 dollars though to be able to locate the network printer where we wanted without having to run cables across rooms, and without having to buy a new wireless printer.

Then I plugged in an ethernet cable and my wife is a happy camper. I am pleased at D-Link’s Powerline AV …
My wife’s desktop computer is downstairs and the wireless router is upstairs in a loft. Even though the loft is open the wifi signal sometimes cuts out. So I ordered the D-Link Powerline AV 200 Mini Adapter Starter kit so she would have a wired connection that was more consistent. I plugged the first adapter in near the router upstairs and then the adapter in downstairs near her computer. The LEDs showed a connection was made. Then I pushed the connector buttons and a secure connection was made. Then I plugged in an ethernet cable and my wife is a happy camper. I am pleased at D-Link’s Powerline AV 200 kit. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a more consistent connection.
