Updated 2.5 Gbps NIC is just fine
I bought this hoping it would improve the speed of my recently procured 1Gbps Xfinity service, which was running about 1 Gbps to my gateway, but an intermittent 400 to 900 Mbps between the gateway and my 1G ethernet NIC.The device claims to use revision B of the Realtek RLT8125 chip, which is small and seems to run cool.Install in Windows 10 was easy. Stick it into a 1-lane or more PCIe slot, run the driver install program then plug it into another 2.5 Gbps ethernet port (which the latest Comcast Technicolor box conveniently has). The bitrate immediately went to the max I was getting from Comcast, which was exactly what I was hoping for. The only nuance with the install was that the Realtek driver site is mostly in Chinese, so if you can’t read it you will have to use the translate button on your browser. They also have drivers for Linux, Novell, DOS and some other systems.I installed drivers for Linux Ubuntu 18 as well. This involved downloading and opening a tarball, then running a script in Terminal. It’s easy enough if you know what to do and resulted in similar performance. Hopefully, Linux will get native support in the future.Little extras included a low-profile bracket, a cute little screwdriver with screws, and a gift certificate for a limited number of USB wall chargers.Given its newness, the fact that it is a Rev 2, and the simplicity of the board, it was probably the right one to buy. We’ll see what others experience.

Faster speed with Xfinity
I am using a new modem/router AX6000 Wi-Fi 6 with 2.5Gbps WAN port and four gigabit ports. I have a gigabit plan with Xfinity but was only getting 400-600gbps speed. So…I decided to purchase this inexpensive PCI-E card made by RealTek in China (Model EP-9635B). The driver link is on the card, so I used my iPhone to take an image of the link so I could zoom in to see it. The link worked. I asked the browser to translate from Chinese to English and installed the driver before installing the card. After plugging the power cable back into PC and hooking up a new CAT 6A cable to the card and the other end to the router’s 2.5Gbps port, I crossed my fingers and restarted the PC. First, go into system setup (BIOS) and disable the onboard LAN and save and reboot. Once Windows 10 restarts, the card is automatically detected, and my internet speed increased to over 900 Gbps download and > 23 Gbps upload. Long story, but I am very happy with the combo of CAT 6A cable and ther 2.5Gbps PCI-E Network Adapter from Amazon.

Need actual drivers, not a CD
This card works ok so far. It’s a bit annoying that I had to hunt the internet for the driver files, then it takes an effort to get the correct ones to actually load. I can’t stand how any given hardware Microsoft uses it’s own generic drivers from 2006 and says that the best ones are loaded already if you try to update with Microsoft. Or it doesn’t recognize the device, etc.As the title says, who still has a CD drive in their laptop/workstation. I’m still slightly confused about the drivers as there are 3 devices recognized and the website with the recent ones wasn’t in English.

Realtek 8125B chip
Bought two of these since I am upgrading the core switch in my home to 2.5Gb and my ISP (AT&T Fiber) has a 2.5Gb ethernet interface on their gateway device. I am using these in an old Lenovo ThinkServer TS140 running OpenBSD 7.0 as my edge firewall. The cards were detected without issue and work perfectly at 2.5Gb link speed.

Inexpensive Network card
Plug and play, simply as that. Upgraded my internet to higher than gigabit speed and needed a new network card to achieve the faster speeds. Works great!

It kept disconnecting & reconnecting after 6 month.
This 2.5G network adapter was good. However, it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting after 6 months.

Easy to install, and works properly
The hardest part of installing this was figuring out how to open my case, which, of course, has nothing to do with the network adapter. But once I figured that out, it slotted in very easily, and was returning 2 Gb speeds as soon as I got my PC powered back up.

I recently upgraded to 3Gbit synchonous Internet and needed NICs for my main desktop and server that could handle it as they only had 1Gbit built-in. Despite the utter generic branding on these NICs, they are well made and do the job very well. Realtek drivers are often hit and miss, but these are updated frequently and are dead easy to install. The cards perform fantastic when paired with an appropriate switch and the itty bitty, adorable heatsink on the card means it can handle very large loads without overheating, which can happen on these chipsets if not given cooling assistance.Very pleased overall. 2.5Gbit is a good intersection between high performance and affordability and these cards are a great example of that.

The card was picked up straight away on first boot with the identified driver installed. Works at the advertised speed as well

I installed this in a Windows 10 system I’m using as a cheap NAS. It worked out of the box with Windows generic drivers but only up to about 1.8 Gbps. Once I found and installed the proper RealTek drivers it was up to about 2.2 Gbps, which is pretty reasonable given there are likely other bottlenecks in my system.Very nice that it comes with both a half-height and full-height bracket, as well.
