Great little work horse
As bad luck would have it, my printer decided to die when I needed it most: to print various items for my grand daughter’s Bat Mitzvah. This printer did a fantastic quality job printing on 32# bonded paper (used as program cover) and 24# bright white paper (for the inside). I did find it’s not particularly fond of standard 16# or 20# paper and tends to feed a little crookedly. One thing I learned was it’s important to push the paper towards the back of the feed tray (after loading) and ensure it is placed behind two small clips located on the inside bottom of the feed. When putting your hand down the feed tray, just gently push the paper towards the back and you will hear a faint click. This is quite important to ensure the paper feeds correctly and doesn’t become off kilter when printing. Also printed pictures on photo quality paper with excellent results. In short: I’m impressed. I do recommend reading the reviews on this printer and keep in mind it does have a few quirks.. For example, it’s important to use it regularly to ensure the ink doesn’t dry out and mess up the heads. I found several YouTube videos which address this issue as well as recommended maintenance. One of the nice things I found is that this printer is widely supported for CISS systems (continuous ink) and refillable cartridges. So with a little homework, you could have this printer work well with pigment ink, dye ink, and/or sublimation ink. Keep in mind, though, you will need to thoroughly clean the heads when switching and the CISS YouTube videos address that as well.

SUPERB for archive-quality photos; not for bulk or office stuff.
It happened that a few days ago it was about $50 cheaper: maybe wait till after the holidays?!A super photo printer. For ordinary home-office stuff (especially B&W), and not having to worry about dried up cartridges, I use a Brother laser, which gets thousands of pages per toner cartridge. But its color is pretty hopeless, even on good paper. The Epson on glossy paper is a *totally* different world: black is jet-black, bright blue is bright, overall contrast is amazing. (I am into astrophotography, and contrast really counts.) Compared to a previous Canon Pixma, which wasted ink by the gallon and took forever to start printing, the Epson is streets ahead, and the print quality is at least as good. Of course it doesn’t print photos fast: this is not an office machine at all.It also has has no irrelevant add-ons like scanner, WiFi, toaster-oven, etc: it’s best for using right at the computer for the final printing of *the* photos you want to archive. Since I don’t print often, I’ll be storing my cartridges upright in a little humid box between printing sessions, which works.PS Installed very easily on an ancient Windows XP machine without a working CDROM: just go to the Epson download site and get the drivers.

A NIGHTMARE POS! BUYER BEWARE
This is the BIGGEST POS I have EVER had to deal with! I would give it 10 negative stars if I could. I used it one day and the colors printed NOTHING like what was on my computer screen, very washed out. That wasn’t the most frustrating part though. The next day I went to print (mind you, have only had this printer setup for 2 days) and it wouldn’t feed one piece of paper through without jamming! (pic 1 is the mound of EXPENSIVE paper I went thru with this damn thing). I can only think that elves broke in overnight and messed with the printer as I have no idea what could have possibly changed from the day before to the very next day when it chewed up every piece of paper. I tried adjusting the settings to “heavy matte”, etc. with NO CHANGE whatsoever. Even feeding paper from the back was a pain as it kept shifting the paper so I had to hold each piece to make sure it fed through straight. BUT the real issue was where the paper was SUPPOSE to come out, it would just jam up there over and over (pic 2 is the paper IN the printer just squishing up because it would go thru the exit part). The print head? (ink cartridge thingy) of course kept going over the jammed up paper making an “inky” mess, ripping the paper, sending the ripped pieces all over the printer. UGH, just writing this review has me remembering that frustrating day and wanting a drink! I have NEVER had a printer that was such a pain! Thankfully I was in return period, so without delay I went to Amazon to return the POS…(very happy with Amazon’s return policy, was issued a refund promptly.) Have to say, if the printer had not been returnable, I would taken it to the yard and beat the crap out of it with a sledge hammer, which would have been most gratifying.

Dependability
Awesome and reliable little workhorse. We use it for general printing straight from the computer, via USB connection. It just works like a charm, and the add-on software is easy to install, if you need to. All the resources are there, if you need to print from your computer. This is what this machine does; no more, no less; and the color prints come out just divine. This is a very reliable printer, with a word of caution: Do not ever forget to open the paper tray door before you begin printing; this printer does not handle stuck paper very well. If a sheet of paper ever becomes stuck inside the roller feed mechanism, you must proceed with extreme care when removing it, for damage is very possible if you are not extra careful when attempting to remove stuck paper from inside the printer. This printer prints great color photos. This is all we can say about this faithful, dependable servant, the legendary Epson Stylus C88+ Color Inkjet Printer (C11C617121), still going strong.
