Must have if you have a lot of Govee lights
I bought this and mounted it on the side of my nightstand so that I wouldnât have to get my phone out every time I wanted to turn lights on and off. It is very intuitive to program on the Govee app and allows you to set 6 different commands to control lights in the same or different rooms. It works on lightbulbs, rope lights, TV immersion lights, etc. I was really impressed with the versatility for an item with such a low price. It has a nice feature where you can select a box to use the same button for on and off commands, which really allows you to program 12 commands. I donât understand exactly how the distributed gateway works, but it connects to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and has excellent range. One tip I would add is that if you canât get the remote to power on initially (by long pressing button #1), take the back cover off and remove the plastic tab underneath the battery. This was not in the written instructions, but I found it under troubleshooting online. The back cover is a little difficult to take off and I felt like I was going to break it, but once it popped loose and I pulled the battery tab, it powered on with no problem. The only other thing to note is that the commands donât work perfectly every time. There is a little lag and sometimes you have to press the button twice. I feel that it is still much easier and quicker than opening the Govee app on your phone.

Must have if you’re into home automation – works great, easy set up!
Love this – if you have devices in the Govee ecosystem, this is a must have! Set up the button uses with stackable commands in the smartapp and then makes activating your devices at the push of a button. I use this outside in my gazebo, now my 80 year old mom can easily turn on the fan, fountain (both via govee smart plugs) or the Govee LED lights without the need for a smartphone or fumbling to open an app on a tablet . Love Govee! Must have!

Works good just have to press twice
First off it only works with Govee products. Second you might have to press the button twice to wake it up after a day of inactivity. There was one issue where I had to use another button to get dream view to turn off instead of just a long press. Software issue I’m sure of it. Otherwise it works great!

Not what I wanted or thought it was really.
Edit: decided to bump to 5 stars due to the customer service and that if this did what I needed it would be a great product. Customer service reached out and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy, which is a great thing to do. Very appreciated.I was kind of expecting this to be able to control most Govee smart devices, which isnât unreasonable as that is literally what it claims. Well, there are some smart devices it appears it should work for that it absolutely does not, plus the stuff it makes no sense that it canât do but it doesnât.An example, by control a smart device it would seem that mostly just means it can turn it on or off, not any of the other commands that would be great to have on a remote. Opening the app and waiting for things to connect is a real downer but still the best (or only) way to do things. For my tv backlight it can only give the option for on and off, which off works okay but on does absolutely nothing at all. I wanted to change the mode from game to video but that isnât one of the options. Then , while it seems being able to turn off (and on but that doesnât work) video dreamview would mean it could similarly turn on music dreamview, this is not the case. So for most anything other than turning off video dreamview it does not appear to work with that or anything involving any dreamview or backlight feature. What it does do, sometimes but not always, is turn the smart bulbs on and off. This mostly only seems to actually work successfully when I have it turn all on or all off. Again, on and off are all it offered for commands not changing anything which is really useless as you almost always want certain parameters but only get whatever it was on last time. I tried making smaller groups to turn on and off and again itâs very hit or miss.My guess is that by control most smart devices they mean it turns stuff on or off and mostly only non lighting devices. Iâm guessing because all I have are lights. For me not being able to control these with something other than the app on my phone is close to a total dealbreaker. Itâs just not convenient at all so I have just left mine on all the time and rarely use the music dreamview because I donât feel like getting up to hit the button on it.I donât get why you would want to just turn stuff on and off and not have buttons asssigned to set up certain presets of options for the stuff but maybe thatâs what most want. Kinda ruins the reason to bother with a smart device over a regular light but thatâs me.Itâs not totally useless and Iâm too lazy to bother with the return due to the price being too low to bother with all that. Maybe my space heater will die and I can justify having it by buying a Govee heater or something.I was hoping this would do what it really should easily do, let me make presets and select them. If the tv backlight wasnât s as neat as it is I would likely just not bother with these products at all as the app is a hassle and has annoying bugs in it. The concept is a good one but the execution is less than amazing to me.With how hit it miss this has been as far as even doing what it lists as possible commands I really wouldnât recommend it unless I knew you just wanted an on off switch . It likely has its uses they just didnât turn out to be what I wanted to control without opening the app all the time. I might use it some who knows so Iâll give it the three stars. Wasnât obvious what it wouldnât control though so itâs a bit disappointing. Out of potential commmands it barely has an option to do many of them but I see no reason why it wouldnât or couldnât do those as well, especially when itâll do certain things for one device but not the same thing for similar devices. Its not all bad but not what I thought it would be either, also much smaller rhan I imagined it would be but no way to tell from the lack of anything in the images to compare it to.Just one opinion of mine, who you likely donât even know so take it as you feel fit. For just the most simple uses it is likely not all that bad. At least it was reasonably priced so itâs not that big a deal.

>50% failure rate
I own dozens of Govee products and these little remotes are the worst thing they’ve ever made, simply because they do not work reliably AT ALL. Best case scenario, the remote will actually do what you programmed it to do, just with a massive delay. Worst case scenario, it’ll do absolutely nothing. Most likely scenario, there will be a long delay and then it will do part of what you programmed it to do but then you’ll have to press the same button and wait again for it to hopefully get it right the next time. In the end, it’s almost always going to be faster to just go into the app to do things. I got a couple of these to keep on our nightstands so that my gf and I can both easily turn the lights and fan on/off without waking each other up with google voice commands or waking ourselves up by having to fumble around with our phones in the dark. In reality, it has only cause more frustration and disruption instead of less.

They have a lot of delay. Itâs very annoying. Otherwise they work great.

Great for control of my lights
I have pretty much cleaned my house up from all the different light brands I had before, I started 15 – 20 years ago when the only LED lights you could get were liquid filled. I still have 3 of those lights running btw, even though the company that made them went out of business 10 – 15 years ago they still ran better than my LIFX bulbs. I dropped Hue because, really it’s 2024 I don’t want to go dig out a hub from somewhere to push a button every time I get a new tablet or phone app. So I switched to mostly Govee, and they have been great so far. This button was super easy to set up and configure, and I have all 6 buttons configured, but I mostly use the first 4, 1 – all lights on in a reasonable light, 2 – Living room, dining room, kitchen and bedroom on in different scenes, 3 bedroom on in before bed mode and 4 all off. Use it daily and it works great for me. I highly recommend
