A Practical Guide For Staffing Entrepreneurs
There are quite a few new books, YouTube channels, coaching guides, and paywall sites all devoted to helping entrepreneurs in developing a staffing concept. I read Suky Sodhi’s ‘How to Launch A Staffing Agency’ over a few weekends, and it stands far and above the ‘coaching noise’ for a few good reasons:1- Its broken into 16 steps, all founded and built on one another. She doesn’t just tell the reader about the required pieces of a successful staffing enterprise…as an experienced entrepreneur, she challenges the reader with the personal assessments needed to put the positive energy into the business, even when the going gets tough.2- The advice speaks from her personal challenges and triumphs with starting her own businesses. I sensed that while I read the book, and her guidance in the book regarding personal values, being an intrapreneur or an entrepreneur, and staying of high character with clients were all things spoken from deep experience.3- The associated content, including the workbook / companion guide are very thorough. I used the companion guide as I read the book. Writing out thoughts and goals she outlines really helps to save time, and clarify how to structure your efforts. In summary, the book is a relatively low risk (given the cost), but is a surprisingly wise and directional guide that exceeded my expectations. It also offered thorough guidance that all the youtube videos and paywall sites out there didn’t really have.

Very very basic
If you know ZERO about the recruiting world, this gives you a good overview. The reader should know that this book covers permanent searches/ recruiting. It does not cover temp staffing, which I was expecting it to.The author uses the book to upsell her consulting services.I returned the book.

Waste of time
This book does not give you a step-by-step guide on how to start and operate a recruiting business. I learned more on the internet. This book is just filled with ‘fluff’. I didn’t need chapters filled with ‘getting in the right mental state’, etc. etc. If you’re new to this industry and looking for a how-to guide, keep it movin’ because this ain’t it.

This book is a must read for anyone thinking about starting a business. Suky brilliantly lays out a step-by-step plan for how to start a profitable staffing agency in 90 days. Each chapter has actionable steps to keep you on track. While this book is specific to starting a staffing agency, any new entrepreneur will benefit from Sukyâs advice on lessons learned. Highly recommend.
