The Kidde Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector, Hardwired Interconnect, Combination Smoke & CO Alarm with Battery Backup, Voice Alerts, model KN-COPE-IC, is a photoelectric smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector combo that operates on a 120VAC power source with a 9V battery backup. A convenient front load battery door makes it easy to install or change the battery without the need to remove the unit from the ceiling. This smoke detector also includes an electrochemical carbon monoxide detector which offers highly accurate CO sensing technology.
When this carbon monoxide smoke detector combo senses danger, three loud 85dB beeps will sound and it will announce “Fire!” or “Warning: Carbon Monoxide”. When the back up battery is low, the alarm will chirp once, followed by the voice warning, “Low Battery.” The Smart Hush™ feature temporarily silences the fire alarm for approximately 8 minutes in case of nuisance alarms. Install a smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector on each level of your home and inside and outside each bedroom or sleeping area.
UL Certified with a 10-year limited warranty. Meets requirements of UL 2034, UL217, NFPA72, The State of California Fire Marshal, NFPA 101, FHA, & HUD.

They replaced a bad alarm for free
I installed 4 of these alarms and they activated when the house became filled with smoke from a fire that was actually outside. The smoke was blowing towards the house and getting in through the eaves of the roof. The alarms activated and let us know about the carbon monoxide that was building up in the air. We were able to call the fire department and get the house vented out to a safe level after the fire was put out. One of the alarms would randomly go off after the incident so I called the customer support number and spoke to a real person over the phone instead of some robot. The guy spoke in good clear English and said that he would send us a replacement for free as the smoke most likely damaged one of the alarms. About 2 weeks later the alarm came and is working just fine. I am testing one of them out with using rechargeable NIMH 9 volt batteries in an effort to reduce battery waste pollution and so far it is working just fine.

Quick and easy
I replaced several smoke alarms and a CO /smoke alarm for my cousin. Since these were the same brand the wiring matched and the install was simple. I did need to use the new baseplates, but that’s only a couple screws to deal with.

This Model Has Bee Discontinued !!!
It’s an excellent smoke and CO2 detector, but Kidde has discontinued this model and changed the electric connector, so if you already have this model and hope to just twist off the old one and twist on the new one, you’re out of luck. If you are not handy with electrical work, get an electrician to wire the new model. My local electrician charges $150 standard trip charge, plus $100 per hour labor, minimum one hour. $250 seemed a little steep for this, but it didn’t vary much after talking to several electricians. It was much more prudent to purchase the latest model and a package of Spade Quick Disconnect Wire Connectors at https://www.amazon.com/Disconnect-Connectors-Terminal-22-18AWG-18-14AWG/dp/B09HB3YTKG/ref=sr_1_11?crid=J8S0A5MT8VVG&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.je5FH5B71oN73_NCtPPK6czxhjhzVo99eyBARjO8jnjv-baGkMx1oCoPgZd8DrjIjPSHNRfW4ts4GKQqPgAi4KuLXMjGB_Nio-JuweNogzAcfDCubiMfk-D7I7ld0v1ikqywMuA6ZMIkIt54ffYjGFPcroSRVDDSFQ3J-Rq1RJaowbYjo7SuLm-q51m9PUGqNmnr_kAqJz7DrTNTMoHZ2ZSFgvWPiWjtcCTKpFsU6mE.caAMtNEefwI7ZiAQKnXOTMjykONqr1OI-Dvvjp6Wo-o&dib_tag=se&keywords=electrical+wire+quick+disconnects&qid=1714721096&sprefix=electrical+disconnects%2Caps%2C139&sr=8-11Put on the new back plate, put two male disconnects on the bare wire in the electrical box and two females on the connecting harness that comes with the new model connector. It’s, at most, an irritating 30 minute job, but the disconnects are 7-bucks, not $250.00.

A direct replacement for my old discontinued model.
I have a hardwired smoke detector system, consisting of 3 smoke only & 1 smoke/carbon monoxide combo unit. There is a set replace time for the combo unit and mine expired (@2am) on night. This causes the unit to produce chirps every 30-60 seconds or so, not the same as when the backup battery dies. I didn’t know and replaced the battery, which of course did not stop the replace unit warning chirps. The good news is, I bought this unit and not only did it come with everything I needed, since they were the same brand the base & wiring harness (hardwire connector) were the same. Huge time saver, as all I had to do was plug in the connector for the power/interconnect, install the included battery, and mount it back into the existing base. Some other key takeaways:It controlled and was controlled by my other detectors (interconnect).I have not had one false alarm as other reviews have mentioned (follow the instructions).Easy to test.Loud alert with voice notification of event (fire or carbon monoxide detected).Comparatively priced (see unit on manufacturer’s website $$$).Spare ac/interconnect harness (since old one is compatible).Don’t have to change base if using same brand (I think all are universal from Kidde).I have Prime, so fast free delivery.I am happy to have had a simple experience replacing my old unit, and most importantly, we can feel safe that we have protection again.

Our last smoke detectors would beep constantly and caused a lot of panic and headaches for us. Most times, it was the battery running low, or a faulty wire, but we had no way of knowing because the beep was always the same. These new detectors tell us if it’s battery, CO, fire etc. What an ease of mind for us! I can sleep peacefully now knowing that of the detectors goes off, it will tell me why so I can step into action immediately without second guessing if there’s an emergency or not. Definitely worth the price.

Our existing smoke and CO detector expired. Needed a new one but couldnât find any in stock anywhere. Ordered this one and received it next day and installed it in 2 min. It even came with a battery. I loved that the wiring hadnât changed with the newer model. They must be replaced ed every 10 years so itâs good to have same wiring
