Expensive? Abolutely. The best mouse I have ever used? Double absolutely.
After spending over 100 dollars on two different gaming mice of reputable brands (Razor and Logitech) and having both of them break within months, I had a ‘straw that broke the camel’s back’ type of situation and splurged on this masterpiece. Why keep spending money on new mice every couple of months when you can just get the best of the best? Thus far I have had exactly zero issues with it. The customizability, both physical and software, is mind-blowing. Within a half hour I had tuned this thing exactly to my preferences. The ceramic feet glide effortless across my mousepad, and seem to be scratch resistant – which means the quality of the glide never degrades. The sensor of the mouse is unmatched. The sniper button, which is nicely placed right where the thumb rests, is a fantastic feature for FPS gaming. The mouse has onboard profiles, so you can save settings directly to it and take it with you for use on another computer. Speaking of that, it comes with a really nice carry-case, a tool for adjusting the resistance of the mouse wheel (yeah, you can do that, and it’s awesome) and a nice little brush for brushing away dead skin and other debris from the mouse – a very nice touch indicative of a high quality product.I decided to use the extra pinky rest piece it came with, which allows your pinky to rest on a little platform on the right side of the mouse, avoiding that annoying feeling you get from your pinky dragging on the mousepad. Another awesome touch that I didn’t know I needed.Overall, I am very impressed with this mouse and have absolutely zero buyers remorse, provided it lasts me a good long time.Update (May 2024) below:My original unit unfortunately broke within a couple of months – the mouse wheel came right off. However, I reached out to customer service with pictures and videos of the mouse explaining what had happened and they replaced it, no questions asked, free of charge. I have now used the new unit for much longer than the original and it has not failed in any way – I am guessing I just got unlucky with the first one.I am still insanely impressed by this mouse. The customization and feature set seriously makes it the only mouse on the market that is ‘right’ for me and I can never go back.

Durable and Reliable After 4 Years
I bought the Mad Catz R.A.T. 8+ mouse back in 2020, and it’s honestly the best mouse I’ve ever used. It’s now 2024, and this mouse is still going strong. Before this, I was constantly replacing clickers on my old mice, soldering new ones because they kept wearing out. But with the RAT 8+, for only cleaning.I use it every day for gaming, web and software development, and it has never failed me. The precision and reliability are top-notch, and the gaming experience is super. If you’re looking for a mouse that will last and perform well, Mad Catz R.A.T. 8+ is a way to go. It’s been a great investment for me!

Megatrons right nut, and its ergonomic.
I still have my original cyborg rat 7, a mad catz rebranded rat 7 and now this rat 8+. They are mostly the same. I think the sensor and software is better in the 8+ compared to the others. The packaging is the weakest, as well as the overall feel of the material. It is hard to explain, but when you hold both, you just feel it… You won’t be getting 10 years out of this mouse, like the others. It feels just a tad more flimsy, is more shiny plastic instead of soft touch, even the switches felt a bit springy instead of crisp out of the box.All that said. I spammed a few dozen rapid clicks through it and it cleaned up. The mouse glides like it is held aloft by cherubs dancing over clouds. You can adjust this so many ways, that if you cant find a way to make it comfortable, then you are probably using the wrong hand… Once you get spoiled by this thing you never want to use anything else. I do use an elecom trackball, but only for web and mundane tasks otherwise the rat gets called into service. The LED lighting is pretty standard fare, 3 zone color, with effects linked across zones. It’s a bit of a clunky interface as you can’t copy colors, but whatever, how often do you really change them anyway?DPI is insane. Also has a surface/lift detection setting that helps calibrate for different surfaces. Overall, this is a step up from previous versions. Way better than razer stuff…If you want to experience the pinnacle in ergonomic adjustability get this mouse and you will never go back.

Nice adjustability and look/feel, but questionable paint finish
The mouse itself is very comfortable to use, and the ability to fit the mouse physically to my hand dimensions is great. The feel of the device, the various buttons, and the appearance of the mouse is also excellent. The only complaint I have is that the high-gloss finish develops an oily feel during use, and I also discovered that after letting the mouse sit for a couple of weeks, it becomes sticky to the touch. It seems out of character for a device this expensive to have an issue with the paint finish.

I’ve always been a fan of this brand of gaming mice, fully modular Gaming mouse.. the only downside is…. you can’t change the weight like the USB models, such a shame ð…other than that the16k DPI is more than enough…. So sensitive that I only have it on level 2 and there are 5 levels…I just wish they can make a variation with adjustable weights and BT/Wireless

All I can say is that I grabbed a second one just in case this amazing mouse gets discontinued. Let me put it this way; I am very, very picky at choosing stuff, and in 20 years I could not find a mouse that I like 100%!I came across this one first at Canada Computers location in Mississauga. Curiously I tried to order another one from them, but they were unable and unwilling. So I ended up on good old Amazon that never lets you down. Then brick and mortar retailers wonder why they are loosing business. Anyways, got another one for back up. I absolutely love this stunning looking, gaming mouse that works on PC and Mac. Looks like a Ferrari – Transformer bot! Just love it.Oh, it has parts you can swap out for different looks! 3 Counterweights included! Use it light with none installed, or heavy with all 3, as for your preference.

Best thing about this mouse is the right side attachment so that your pinky finger isn’t getting constantly ran overFrom an aesthetic standpoint, it is possibly the best looking mouse ever mass producedLots of cool buttons on it that I’m sure could be usefulOverall very well designed. The reviews here turned me off but I pulled the trigger anyways and I’m glad I did
