Wonderful quality, though the stock thermal pad is junk
Well machined, good price, the rubber rings that help secure the heatsink to the thermal pads are good quality too, but that thermal pad is truly junk, bottom of the barrel and certainly will hurt your performance. It’s far to hard and inflexible to fully mold around the nand controller chip or the nand chips among other components on your 2280 nvme. Also the thermal conductivity sucks too. Spend an extra 9 bucks for the very soft and pliable ARCTIC TP-3: Premium Performance Thermal Pad, 120 x 20 x 1.0 mm pads, when installing the heatsink remove the sticker on top of the nvme drive, “that will lessen thermal conductivity slightly if you don’t, then clean the nand chips and controller with a damp qtip with 91 percent isopropyl to remove any glue residue, then after trimming the thermal pad to size preferably with a sharp xacto blade, put it evenly on the back of the heatsink after first cleaning the back of the heatsink with rubbing alcohol to shine it up first, get it Lined up on the nvme, then put medium pressure on the heatsink, in the center then on both sides at the same time, go back and forth a few times ensuring that the heatsink doesn’t move after as you don’t want air bubbles trapped under the pad, adequate pressure is good which will push down the thermal pad onto all of the components getting rid of any trapped air and increasing thermal conductivity, wear powder free gloves too so the oils of your skin don’t come into contact with the copperheatsink or thermal pads “skin oil is slightly acidic and can tarnish the copper over time and potentially react with the thermal pad” then you’ll be happy. Be careful not to pinch or crush those softvartic pads as they will not spring back and will be very much molded to any pressure. Which when mounted cotmrrectly is what you want, also becareful not to stretch the pad either when installing. My Samsung 980 is a whole 10 degrees cooler at idle went from 46 and idle even in efficiency mode to 36 at idle at high performance mode, it hardly breaks 45 to 46 degrees under full load for 15mins, in my thin and light laptop and does not get above 54 degrees c under full load after an hour of beating my drive up. Install it right and you’ll be happy.

Haven’t noticed any hotspots
If it were easier to keep firmly attached (the bands aren’t very easy to attach) I’d give it 5 stars. No issues with keeping the SSD cool. It may be actual copper, I haven’t checked, so I can’t speak to quality authenticity. The adhesive seems to be what comes with most heatsinks. I got the 3mm then had to exchange it for the 1.5mm because my laptop would close but bulge with the 3mm in it. I have a Dell Inspiron laptop.

Simple to install. Excellent thermal performance.
This is a neat aftermarket solution. The 70x20x3mm heatsink comes with ~1mm thermal pad and 5 rubber rings(only 3 advertised). The rings are rather straight forward to attach, slotting into the grooves in the heatsink. Though it did take a decent amount of pulling force and tweezers to accomplish. I’ll be sure to update if the the quality of the bands doesn’t hold up. The 3mm height seems to fit well enough, as the M.2 slot is on the back side of my motherboard, and the heatsink does not contact the back of mt case. The thermal performance really shows, as my NVMe temps have gone from high 70’s to 43°C. Impressive considering the unpolished surface.

Seems good, 1.5mm barely fit below SSD in PS5
I bought the 1.5mm size to fit underneath a double-sided SSD in a PS5, the top side would have a giant heatsink that replaces the PS5 SSD slot cover, so it presses down on the SSD from above. I was able to make this fit under the SSD only if it touched the SSD directly without any thermal pads in between. The PS5-specific heatsink/slot cover design assumes a specific exact height of the SSD blade for everything to make contact correctly, and with this underneath I did get it all to work, but barely.And the very thin thermal pad included with this heatsink, I placed on top of the SSD where it mates with the upper heatsink. Using the thicker pads that came with the top heatsink made everything too thick and I couldnât bolt down the slot cover/heatsink on top.In other words, for this particular PS5 setup the 1.5mm size was slightly thicker than ideal, but it did ultimately work. I think it is okay to forgo the thermal pad on bottom, maybe some thermal paste would help if you want? The SSD does have a sticker covering the blade so the chips arenât touching the copper directly.The silicone? bands held up for several attempts at installation and removal, and are very thin so they donât interfere much with the thermal pads on the other side, I was able to place them in between the SSD chips to keep things flush. Overall I feel good having this installed below the SSD to complement the larger heatsink on top.

It’s was easy enough to attach, it looks pretty, and it reduces temperatures a little bit. I put it on a Western Digital 850X that’s on the motherboard under the graphics card, so I couldn’t use a tall heatsink. It seems to have reduced the temperature by 3 degrees, from 60 degrees to 57. That might not sound very good, but I also bought a fancy Sabrent Rocket heatsink for my other SSD, a Samsung 990 Pro, and that one reduced the SSD’s temperature by 4 degrees, from 56 degrees to 52. So either there’s an airflow problem or passive SSD heatsinks just don’t do much.

Obviously the temperature is very dependent to the environment but in my case which is a very small enclosure, I can see 7-8 degree decrease in the idle temp, mine usually sat around 61-62 now is 55-56 when NOT heavily used, but starting using the ssd, copying large files, it goes up to 65-66 which still high for this particular brand as max temp is 70, I think for a smaller enclosure if there is not enough breathing room, something with more heft or with a small fan definitely works better, but still I’ll give it 4 star not sure what you can expect more from a thin piece of copper heatsink at this price.
