Scans fast and Small Learning Curve
I really like that the learning curve was not too much. Technology these days can be so complicated to learn and especially with office type products and software there’s so many bells and whistles. The time it took to learn how to use was not very long and I think I learned all the important features with just scanning a few things. The good:1.) I like that it scans fast.2.) I like that the software is not too complicated , although it might appear so at first. Namely the automatic titling , setting up of different profile options and enabling the OCR (so that you can search text within a document you scan) were mastered within an hour of usage or so.The bad1.) Paper jam clearing was so frustrating . Clearing the jam physically is simple (just press the release button and open tray and remove) but getting the software to start back up again at least on my computer, would cause a crash on the program. It also did not seem to save any progress up to that point so if I had a 20 page document but it jammed 18 pages in, it would not retain the first 17 pages. After clearing the jam physically I also would have to on my computer at least (Windows 10) do a CTRL + ALT + DEL , DOCUSCAN II > END TASK , and then click on it to start it back up again2.) The automatic idle time to set to sleep every few minutes can be real frustrating . I could not find a way to disable this or increase the sleep time on the program. It also seems that the physical button press does not automatically start it up to work. You could put some paper physically into the tray to wake it up but still I would have to press the DOCUSCAN 2 program icon to scan thus making the waking up pointless to do anyway other than to go the software route.A problem unique to me was that I had a lot of uneven or thin papers. This could cause frequent jamming. I am still giving it 4 stars because of the simplicity and power of this but I would highly recommend it if you have uniform paper that isn’t too old. I had a mishmash of thin papers that would cause frequent jammings or irregular sized things or a lot of creases that would cause frequent jams. In the office though if you had non-stapled , newer and less dirty papers, this would be really good.

The scanner work great.
Ready for use just out of the box. User friendly, no need to set up. It is as good as my Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 with half the cost.

Pretty darn good, especially for SOHO
I have to say this is a pretty good doc scanner for a small office or home office. I’ve never had one before and had to rely on my flatbed scanner. This, with the auto document feeder, and scanner assembly on both sides (so you can scan double-sided documents with a single pass), makes it possible to turn a mountain of paper into PDF documents in short order…. which is what I did. The intention was to get rid of the approximately 4 reams of 8.5 x 11 paper records in my file cabinet in my home office. I needed to be able to search and organize the resulting files easily as well. This PlusTek scanner did about 90% of the work for me. There are two parts to this review: the physical hardware and the software package included with it.Hardware: This scanner takes up much less desktop space then you might think. Less than a foot square. Its power block is separate on the floor with just a thin cable to power it. It used the older USB-B cable to connect to your PC. The hopper can hold about 50 sheets and can be slid open/closed for smaller/thinner kinds of paper. You can put in photos too, but I have found that this scanner doesn’t do photos particularly well.. especially if high image quality is you goal. Also found that some of the plastic bits are a little brittle. You can see in my pic that the paper support extension broke on the first time I tried to pop it in place. Nit a big deal, but worth noting.Software: the real strength of this device is it software. The CD included is difficult to install, so I recommend using the link provided on the front of the user’s guide insert to download the newest version of the software from the PlusTek website. It will be much easier to set up. There are actually two pieces of software: the actual scanner suite, and a small monitor program which watches for the inserting of paper or the pressing of the physical button. You can disable this if you only want to activate the suite manually. When loaded it prompts you with an onscreen window to enter the properties of the document: paper size, 1-or-2 sided, desired file type (image or PDF) resolution, and location of the generated file. This is nice and appreciated especially if you want a simple ad hoc scan. But you can also save these settings you can assign them to one of many ‘quick steps” so you can use it again. This is very helpful if you are scanning a larger number of similar types of documents…. say a bunch of bank statements you want placed into a certain folder … and then you want to scan a bunch of canceled checks into a different folder. This is very useful and appreciated. With this quick steps feature you can really make the device move quickly. A stack, of say, 25 double sided documents can be scanned in just 10 seconds and rendered as searchable PDF document. All these features and options make for a really successful document scanner. It is not quite as polished as some from a larger company like Xerox or Lexmark, but for the price the minor imperfections are more than acceptable. Recommended

Nice little scanner with interface issues.
This scanner was easy to connect to my computer after downloading the driver and app software from the manufacturers’ site. But, the window for operating it showed up as a tiny rectangle. I un-installed and reinstalled it after chatting with support and could not get it to change. As it is difficult to see if I’ve typed a file name in correctly, this makes operation difficult. My initial scans, though, were clear and useful.

Fast and easy to use
The Plustek scanner is fast and allows me to rename my documents with the barcode. It is really a time saver!
