Does what I bought it for
The app wasn’t working at first but I uninstalled and reinstalled it and then it worked fine. Really easy to connect my Sunsetter motorized outdoor blinds and awning to alexa and set routines. Certain blinds I want rolled up at sunset and the awning 20 minutes before sunset. (I live at the ocean and the evening moisture will make a mess of the top of the awning because of dust, sand and dirt if I forget to retract it in time.

Successful Setup for TaHoma iPhone app with RTS Somy Remote Control
To add to the positive comments, we purchased the WiFi TaHoma to replace the two hand held remotes we had for two awnings controlled by Somfy. In our case, the awnings are outside of two adjacent rooms and the Somfy RTS remotes and TaHoma controller are within 30 feet and one outside wall of the awning control boxes. This system works great and was easy to install and configure the TaHoma app (with patience and attention to the app instructions).1) Itâs important to keep the TaHoma box label because it has a unique PIN code you need for the setup.2) the app instructions caution that some steps will take a few minutes to complete and this was true in my experience. No single step took more than 10 minutes, but many steps took more than one minute. Three minutes is a long time to wait while watching a spinning wheel on the install step so you do have to be patient.3) You may not know if your Somfy motor control box uses Zigbee or RTS protocols. Nothing on the Somfy website, store, or remote controllers themselves identifies the type of wireless system used in the remotes and motor box controllers we had, which turned out to be RTS. The app implies that the Zigbee protocol motor control box devices will have a QR code label. I tried RTS devices when I found there was no QR code label and that was correct for our installation.4) The TaHoma learns the address of the RTS devices from the remote controller. So, you go to add devices, open the remote control – as if you were changing the battery – and then push the (in our case it was a red)Small program button on the remote circuit board.5) If you make a mistake, deleting a device requires you to press the controller program button again. Somehow I created two copies of the same awning control and it took me a moment to understand how to follow the instructions to delete the extra one.Why TaHoma? For some reason, we have always had intermittent battery problems with the Somfy RTS remotes. We donât know if this is common for other users, but for us, when one of the remotes stops working, removing the battery from the failed remote and replacing it again (or using a fresh battery ) seems to restart the system. There is no apparent correlation to when failures will occur. The nice thing about the TaHoma system is1) since itâs controlled by your phone, you donât have to look for the remotes, and2) the Somfy RTS remotes in our experience have an intermittent battery power issue. Using the TaHoma eliminates this battery problem. This was super successful and we can recommend this for anyone using the RTS version of the Somfy control. We use Apple HomeKit, and Somfy dies not integrate

Hard to program and doesnât work consistently
I bought this device to control two somfy roller shades in my kitchen. It took over 10 attempts to connect the device to my network until it finally connected. Very frustrating and I followed all the instructions exactly and even watched a somfy programming video. Once connected I created a group to raise the shades in the morning and close in the evening. It worked for one day and since then one shade may raise and may go down but not consistently. And when it wonât raise or go down, the app doesnât work and locks up so I have to use the regular somfy RTS remote and not the app and this Tohama device. Finally, the price for this device is not worth it. It is feels cheap and is made of plastic and weighs less than 4-5 ounces. Suspect it has a small chip and transmitter and nothing else. Donât waste $250 on this and just use your regular somfy remote

Some difficulty connecting but works
During initial setup, it didnât appear that this was connecting to WiFi. Never gave any indication that connection was successful. However when I restarted app, it worked fine

It works.
Just wanted to leave a quick review because there are so many mixed reviews here. Although the programming is possibly the worst of any smart home product Iâve ever set up if you are patient it does the the very basic jobs of opening and closing somfy blinds on a schedule which was all we wanted. If your expectations are low, it definitely can meet them.
Cons –
Do not buy!
Have been trying to set up the system for an hour now. Havenât been able to access my newly created account on the app. Keeps glitching and issues error messages

Bad google home integration
This let me close and open my blinds via its own app. When I integrated it with google home, the blinds did not work – I had to create scenes which worked (inconveniently). My wife connected to the same google home could not use them. I have older shades based on RTS – maybe it works better for newer ones, but this was not what I would expect for the price. We bought a much cheaper bond bridge and it immediately worked and connected with google home in an expected manner. On top of all of this as Iâm returning this item, you apparently need to call a phone number to a factory reset – cherry on top to this bad experience.

This product is absolute garbage.I have followed all in app steps and rules and still won’t connect, 3 hours wasted of my life. I am returning this trash as soon as I can.No customer support either, only email, god knows when they are getting back to me.
