Customers say
Customers like the value, ease of setup, and power of the av receiver. For example, they mention it’s easy to setup and use, produces enough power for their setup, sounds great, and saves them hundreds of dollars. That said, opinions are mixed on quality, features, and connectivity.

Worked great for my outdoor speakers
I needed something simple and strong for my outdoor pool speaker setup. Works great with Bluetooth and provides good music. Good choice for an inexpensive but good setup. If I were to buy again I would get one with direct wifi connection so I could control the music with my phone while still taking calls outside. Great system though and now I just connect my Chromebook to it and use that to control the music

It’s a great receiver for the price.
I replaced my old Denon, it was just too out of date. The setup was super easy, it does it all by itself. I have Klipsch 7 series speakers and it sounds fantastic.

Actually I give it 4.5 stars
I took a half star off because of the dumb fm antenna wire on this. I did not pay attention to the fm antenna connection when I purchased this. I listen to the radio early in the morning and I should not have to grab my phone to bluetooth a radio station even though it works extremely well. Even the higher end Sony models have this type of antenna. Luckily it sits close enough to a window that I laid the wire flat on the windowsill.Picks up the station I usually listen to ok…45 miles away. This not a entry level receiver..it is a budget entry level receiver. Randy the cheapaudioman on youtube gave this a do not buy recommendation.I recommend that you get this at or slightly above the black friday price. Well I am new to a/v receivers so it was quite the learning curve. I just about took this thing out to the garage and took a sledgehammer to it.But I finally got it to work right for me. Took a while.I plugged my roku ultra 4800x into this and did the setup which was easy. Read the instruction manual. And I think you should learn the amp menu also. There are setting in there that are NOT on the on screen settings. This receiver plays good stereo content from my turntable, radio and dvd player. I stream content to my tv and I could not get all 5 speakers to work with 2.0 content from the streaming services I use. 5.1 worked.I paid good money for my speakers and not being able to use all of them for 2.0 content was a dealbreaker for me. I have Polk elite signature 20s for the mains..polk xt35 for the center and polk xt15s for the surrounds. I finally figured it out. You have to enable audio passthrough on the roku to get all five speakers to play for 2.0 content. On top of that every time I pressed the roku power button everything comes on like it should. Except the roku wanted to change the setting to auto hdr on every power up.My tv is not capable of doing GOOD hdr so I do not use it. The fix is to go into the roku HDMI SECRET MENU and enable/disable automatic recovery at the bottom right of screen. I hope this helps somebody. My apple tv 4k did not do this but I put it on a different tv because apple does not have the weather channel streaming app nor does it have passthough audio. I call it APPLE SOUND. This receiver does not have any clear voice or clear dialogue tech in it. So I have to turn up the center for some content and turn it back down for music. Also I am not a fan of the loud sound effects in some 5.1 content.Night mode works, but what I use is the dynamic compression setting….only selectable through the amp menu….off…auto…on. Its under hdmi in the amp menu. It only comes on for 5.1 content…there is a indicator light. There is no instructions on how to do this in the manual! For me to get acceptable 5.1 sound from this I enabled dynamic compression…bumped rear speaker up a little..lowered my mains a little and raised the center a little for dialogue. What a hassle and learning curve this was. For what I paid….black friday price it was worth it. That is why I gave it 5 stars. Will be looking a DENON S660H receiver next black friday..lol.That is a entry level receiver. You also will need a subwoofer for this. I actually finally got this to sound both pretty good for both tv and music. Also 2 channel surround sound mode is nice…good job SONY.Other brands of receivers have clear voice settings….dynamic compression and other settings all available in the on screen menu. But I got this thing figured out finally..most people do not have the time to horse around with something like this. I hope this helps somebody out. I just got an A in home theater school..lol.Have a good day!

Easy set up
I bought this Receiver to replace a similar (same brand) that periodically âoverheatsâ. The new receiver provides a more balanced sound after I plugged in the microphone and allowed it to synch to the acoustics of the room. Really happy so far.

Needed a new tuner to bring back surround sound!
I love this receiver! My old one crapped out years ago and my only option was an older receiver that I couldnât hook up to newer technology. I was going to ditch my old Polk surround sound system and get a Bluetooth soundbar and sub woofer but I had the 5 speakers and sub woof already so I took a shot on this receiver for $248. Best decision ever, I set it up and forgot how awesome it sounds!! My friend had the same issue and I sent a link to what I bought to him and he bought the same one. We are learning about the awesome features together, so glad I am up to speed once again and still freak out thinking someone is in the room but itâs just the amazing surround sound effects â¤ï¸. I highly recommend this, great product, awesome price!

budget friendly AVR
At ~$260, which it goes on sale at quite often, it’s an awesome budget-friendly AVR. Working phenomenally well for me so far hooked up with a 5.1 speaker system. I’m not an audiophile so don’t need anything to break my bank over.

Incredible sound quality.
Bought this because my 23 year old pioneer actually died, didn’t think pioneers could die but this one did. Anyway I went with the Rockville rock shaker because it pairs real good for deep bass. This sony doesn’t disappoint in bass it powers my subs with ease. I love the fact the whole reciever is metal no plastic except the plug lmfao. It’s heavy like 15lbs too you can tell this ain’t no cheap av reciever. I gotta say this, I Recieved a renewed model after purchasing a brand new one and Amazon credited me the difference. The fact is they did send me a Amazon renewed product . It’s the first Sony iv ever bought too so kinda bad first impression from Sony in my opinion. This Sony actually has really good sound, and its built like a tank the Bluetooth is so snappy it immediately pairs with all 3 of my android devices. I’ll definitely recommend this Sony 5.1 channel guys ð. If your looking for a product that might last 20+ years like your old goody that died like I was do yourself a favor and buy this and a nice subwoofer. I love Rockville audio rock shaker. They pair perfectly ð.Update: voice coil blew after 3 days and I’m still waiting to hear from company it’s been 4 days I’m gonna have to start a return because they won’t help me at all. It was good for 3 days guys , I’d look elsewhere if your wanting punchy bass because this thing is dead already.Company emailed me twice now asking for video of what’s happening I’m so sick of them they won’t help and my phone won’t record so back to Amazon it goes. If my reciever is only 725 watts total explain to Mr how it blew the voice coil after 3 days when this subwoofer claims its 800 watt. It did sound great until it didn’t. Tired of cheap companies selling an expensive overpriced garbage that don’t last.

I was using a pretty good Pioneer receiver to pass my HDMI devices through to my TV. Unfortunately this receiver started freezing. The audio would work, but no selections would. Checking around the ‘net showed this would likely be a bad capacitor, and since this is at least an 8-year old receiver, I decided to replace it (no schematic, and lots of capacitors to replace). So, I bought a “renewed” (fancy word for refurbished) Pioneer through Amazon from a seller. That was a bad joke on me because this receiver didn’t work either. It would shut off a few seconds after being switched on (apparently this is a common fault with this model of Pioneer receiver). This is the second refurb I have gotten off of Amazon that didn’t work. I won’t try a third time. I checked online and found out that one Chinese company has purchased Onkyo, Denon and Pioneer. Considering all the problems Canada has been having with China lately and the fact that this supposedly refurbished receiver still didn’t work, I decided against purchasing another of these brands.I have an older 46″ Sony TV that is older than my old Pioneer receiver, and it still works perfectly. This convinced me to go with this Sony.Well, after reading the instructions (Gasp!) it was very easy to set up. It works perfectly with my old Polk Audio surround speakers and sub (5.1), and it sounds very good. I have only tried it on my cable box and the FM tuner, but the sound was every bit as good as the Pioneer was.Turn it on, set the language and time/date and the receiver goes into setup mode. You plug in a provided microphone and place it in the most common sitting position and it sets up the speakers for you. Sounds good, and only took a minute. Once done, everything was perfect. My old Logitech Harmony universal remote even had the the correct device so I didn’t have to manually set up every button on the remote (however, the categories for listening to music do not include using the Bluetooth input as an option for some reason, so to use Bluetooth I would have to use the remote that came with the receiver). Note that I have not tested Bluetooth yet.I think the price is comparable with what the Pioneer cost years ago, and hopefully it will last longer. It’s gotta be better quality than those brands that were bought out by China. That’s really too bad. The Pioneer brand used to be a very well respected brand.Overall, I am happy with this purchase, and I respect Sony as a brand name. I would say this receiver is worth the price I paid ($348.00).

Amazing receiver! I have a turntable, passive speakers, a subwoofer, and my TV connected to it. Handles everything very well. The Bluetooth function also works superbly. I highly recommend

Atendeu minhas espectativas.Tive dois receivers pionner e os mesmo deram problemas no prazo de dois anos.Devido a isso optei pela Sony.A marca não decepciona em qualidade dos seus produtos.
