Solid item for the price!
I was really surprised at how nice this amplifier works! Taking it out of the box I was struck by how much smaller it was than I was expecting. It’s about the size of my external CD writer attached to my computer.Seeing the size I thought it probably wasn’t going to have much power, but once I got it hooked up to a spare pair of speakers and plugged in a turntable, I was really impressed with the sound.I then tried it with streaming audio from my phone and it worked well there too. I haven’t tried looking for a FM signal – I don’t live in a good area for that with even the best of machines. This won’t replace my higher end receiver/amp that I have, but I will be taking it to my vacation home to enjoy better sound than just whatever comes out of my phone. For the price, this can’t be beat!

Sufficient features and sound at this price point
Upon opening the AK-390 I was a bit underwhelmed. It was incredibly lightweight and just seemed a bit cheap. Hooking it up to speakers I heard a hiss sound when there was no audio. The Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) is listed as being 85dB on the product page, but the box says >75dB, so we’re getting different specifications. Whatever the actual Signal to Noise Ratio is, it isn’t great because the hiss is so obvious. By comparison, a standard “stereo receiver” is typically around 100dB, notably better than the AK-390.The sound itself seemed a bit colored/muddy, almost as if the midrange was too bloated. Bass and treble are adjustable with the knobs on the front of the unit, but not midrange. Interestingly enough, if one is using the USB jack to playback MP3, there is an “EQ” button on the remote that switches between 6 different equalizer settings. It’s unfortunate that this same functionality doesn’t work for the other music sources (line in, FM radio, Bluetooth, etc). It would be nice if the bass/treble knobs on the front panel had a white marking on them so one could ascertain their setting from a distance. The FM radio surprised me a bit. The radio receiver was sensitive, which is not common for a unit at this price point, especially with such a simple wire antenna. Pressing the play/pause button on the front of the unit automatically scans and programs active stations into memory. One can go through the memories by pressing the forward/back buttons. A nice feature is that one can directly enter the frequency of the station on the remote instead of scrolling through all the memories. The AK-390 comes with good documentation to include an 8-page (per language) manual and a cheat sheet that shows the functions of each button on the unit and its remote. The remote has volume up/down buttons that work in conjunction with the knob on the front of the unit. The knob must be set to “maximum desired volume” and the remote has the ability to go from the knob’s set volume level down to nothing. Notably absent on the remote is a “mute” button.Bluetooth connection to my phone was easy/flawless. I have not used the USB or microphone inputs yet.Whereas I was initially pretty underwhelmed upon first unboxing the unit, I’m happy to say it’s grown on me a bit after several hours of use. For its price point, this is a very competent unit with a lot of features. It’s not really fair to compare this all-in-one unit and its compact size to full size, stand-alone home audio components. If you consider yourself an “audiophile” like I do, then you’re likely to be a bit disappointed by the sound quality and spending more on something else would better suit you. However, if you’re just looking for something to serve as a secondary listening station (garage, workshop, backporch, etc), this amplifier coupled with a decent pair of speakers should fit the bill nicely.

A Value Amplifier at a Value Price that Meet Well-Grounded Expectations
I use this AK-390 Amplifier to drive 2 outdoor Dual-branded speakers and this amp does just fine for background music for relaxing on the deck or having a small party in the backyard. This is not a multi-thousand-dollar amplifier where you’re going to describe its output with words like soundstage, phenomenal transient response, and deep bass. This AK-390 amp can get loud enough with the speakers I use with it, and when not driving it hard, it sounds good enough for what I use it for most. With the FM receiver, USB Flashdrive input, and Bluetooth built-in, you get more options for music sources than just what you can plug into its input jacks. For its current price along with the 25% off coupon, this AK-390 Amplifier is a good value as long as you don’t expect it to sound like an amp you paid a lot more money for.

Inexpensive amp solution
I think for the price it’s a fairly competent piece of machinery, as it did power my similarly priced $30 USD pc speakers fairly well, but with some hissing on the higher range of volume. Also, I noticed a good bit of muddled mids and lows, and I hate how the EQ settings are set up on this device. But to be fair, it did drive my speakers well, and they sounded much louder than without.

Great stereo amp for my garage
I wanted some better speakers in my garage for when working on stuff than the old Dell computer speakers I was working with. I got this in anticipation of picking up some used speakers elsewhere. I finally got it setup and tested and I really like this little guy. I love that it has mounting holes on the side so I could mount it to a wall. The BT connection is fast and you get a clear tone indicated it is connected. I know this setup would not be worthy of an audiophiles setup but it works fantastic for what I am using it for.The buttons all work well, the display is clear. The volume button is smooth and doesn’t feel junky. It is also lit up which is a nice little benefit. I would like for the radio seek function of the buttons to work differently/better but lets be honest, few people are using this browse the radio. I can imagine in the event you do listen to the radio with it, I imagine I would keep it on the one station you may listen too.Great unit, I would definitely check it out for a inexpensive budget setup. I have this setup with some vintage Bose 601 Series i from the 70’s and it pushes them very well.

Nice Bluetooth amplifier
It works well and it also has a an fm transmitter in it. Depending on the speakers you use it can get pretty loud
