Powerline units turn your home’s electrical wiring into a wired network, moving data right through your walls and floors. The TL-PA7017P KIT comes with two powerline units that set up in minutes, are simple to use and plugs into any power outlet to keep wired connections strong where you need them. Note: Powerline adapters must be deployed in sets of two or more. Additonal powerline units are sold separately. TL-PA7017P KIT is compatible with all TP-Link powerline adapters.

It’s work
I decided to buy this because in my garage was only one bar of wifi. I installed this, conected old router and got 100mbs(!) and strong signal. Just wow, 10/10

Better Thank Wi-Fi!
I’ve been using powerline ethernet adapters for many years. The only downside is that since you have to plug them directly into the wall socket, they are the victims of dirty power, power surges, etc, and after a few years, they stop working well or stop altogether. Just about the time the next gen of adapters is out and promising better speeds. I previously had Netgear Powerline 2000 Plug adapters that both went “RED” and would no longer function. I found these TP-Link AV 1000 refurb models on Amazon for around $40 which is about a third the price of a new pair of Netgear adapters. I figured, what the heck, if they don’t work well I can always send them back as Amazon is great about standing behind the products they sell. When the new adapters arrived I plugged them in (opposite ends of the house), hit the reset buttons on each, and let them sync up. Afterwards my wired network was once again working great. I’ve only had these in place for a few days, but they are working just fine. The refurbs come with a 90 day warranty, so plenty of time to determine if you’ve got a defective device. I expect at least a few more years of trouble-free performance.

These work surprisingly well.
I needed to get a WiFi signal from my living room to upstairs office, but the router wasn’t strong enough for a reliable connection. I bought these refurbished and plugged one in by the router, and the other upstairs by my ethernet switch. I now have a decent ethernet connection without the hassle of running ethernet cable (which would have been my first choice) The Mbps isn’t anywhere near 1 Gbps, as described but it is plenty fast enough for internet browsing and basic streaming. The connection quality can be influenced by things like are the adapters both on the same electrical phase? Are there “noisy” appliances on same circuit? Are these plugged in ahead of any surge suppressors?

Works great – better than mesh!
To confirm, this device works great between any two outlets in a home – assuming they are wired to the same breaker panel. They do not have to be on the same circuit breaker, just as long as they’re wired in the main panel, you’re good. My office is about as far away from the WiFi router as it can get, so I just plugged one into the router and the other in my office for a wired connection. I also connected another WiFi router to the device and the signal is as strong and fast as being in the same room with the original router. Way better than using a mesh network IMHO – way cheaper too!

Not Working
Did like all users mentioned, plugged into wall and router into that. Connected Ethernet cord to router and the bottom of device. Plugged other device into wall and computer into that, but itâs still working off wifi and not recognizing any hard wire/Ethernet connection.

Ease of Install
You need to have a clean wall plug to put these in. And since that was at my Desk and my Multi-Media wall that was a little hard to figure out. But once I got that done it works like a hose. And wow does that make a difference on my ROKU. Ethernet speed is so much better than WiFi. 🙂

Did not work for me
It does not say it in the product description, but this will not work if the two outlets are not on the same circuit. It explains that in the user manual that you have to go find on the TP-link website. That tends to defy the purpose of this product because it is pretty rare to have outlets on opposite sides of the house on the same electrical circuit.

These things work great! Straight up black magic.
These things work great! Straight up black magic internet box. Plug one directly(no no on power strips) into an outlet, connect to your router via ethernet/ cat6 wire. Go all the way to the other side of your house to plug the second one directly into an outlet. Press the buttons on the side to link the two. You have high speed internet travelling through all of the wires in your house. Super simple to setup. We have six connected through the house. Bit pricey. But it opens up the wifi for when you need it most… P***hub in the shower!
