The terms “AV500” and “500Mbps” are derived from applicable specifications and refer to the theoretical maximum physical-layer data transfer rate. Those terms are used on this product solely to indicate its compatibility with other “AV500” or “500Mbps” PowerLine devices. Actual data speeds vary and are limited by the product’s Ethernet port and other network conditions such as data traffic, electrical noise, and wiring issues. If you are uncertain about your network conditions, you should consult an IT professional to assist in selecting a networking product. Interface Available: 1 x 10/100Mbps Ethernet Port; Protocols Supported: HomePlug AV IEEE802.3 IEEE802.3u; System Requirement: Windows 10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP/2000 Mac Linux

Customers say
Customers like the performance, ease of installation, and value of the network interface controller adapter. For example, they mention it works awesome for expanding wireless signal throughout their large home, and that the directions are simple. That said, opinions are mixed on speed and connectivity.

Interfaces well with TL-PA6010
I just received and installed this 10/100 device, TL-PA4010, on a home network that already includes four of the 100/1000 TL-PA6010 devices. I bought this device because I could buy one-of, and it’s low cost. This new device installed and paired properly and quickly with the other devices. I tested the device by connecting an older, spare, D-Link DIR-615, wireless N router that only has 10/100 ports. Everything worked as it should, and I get the same full wireless speeds off that router as I get from my main D-Link DIR-850L router.I then installed this new device in its intended location to support my Ooma Telo system, only has a 10/100 port. The Omma Telo continues to perform at full speed.I then took the 100/1000 TL-PA6010 that had been supporting the Ooma Telo, and a D-Link DIR-645 router with gigabit ports, and installed them in the basement, near the ceiling. I now have excellent Wi-Fi coverage throughout the basement level, including the storm shelter, This location for the router also boosted the strength of the Wi-Fi signal to the far corners of my lot so that my tablet gets a strong signal while I am doing yard work and listening to Amazon Prime music. What pleases me is that the introduction of this 10/100 device does not have any apparent negative impact on the rest of the network. I use Ookla Speedtest as my benchmarking tool.Later: I really like the TP-Link wireline network extenders – five of them installed. I also like the TP-Link HS100 smart plugs, I have ten of them installed now. But BEWARE, they don’t play well together. Don’t place a wireline extender behind a smart plug. The smart plug messes up the network signal. I thought my laptop ethernet port had failed until I figured this out by accident while testing a new device. Also later: I installed a second one of these AV500 devices and it quickly paired with the rest of the network devices. I an using it to support my laptop, which only has a 10/100 port, in it’s primary location by my morning browsing/reading chair. The laptop gets a fine Wi-Fi signal, but the ethernet connection is a noticeably faster, and I am all about network speed! However, in later testing, I found that the laptop does even better when used with an AV600 device. Even though the laptop port is only 10/100, it gets better throughput from the faster AV600.

Could not be simpler nor work any better.
I installed 2 of these along with my starter kit to move my Foscam cameras off of the Wireless network and onto a more reliable wired connection. They work great and I would recommend them to anyone that wants to move to a superior wired-style network but does not want to pull a bunch of Ethernet Cable through the wall.I purchased two of these adapters as well as the TL-PA4010KIT AV500 starter kit. As usual (when they don’t use USPS), Amazon impressed and got them here in two days and very protective packaging. The adapters and the kit are packaged in similar boxes and include the modules and a 10 6-foot white Ethernet cable for each. A manual and easy-to-understand quick start guide is also included. These could not be much simpler to use. First you plug one of the modules into the wall and run an Ethernet cable from it to your network source (ISP router, switch, etc.) and connect the Ethernet cable to it. Lights on the module will confirm you are connected and receiving network traffic. For each additional module, simply connect the Ethernet cable to the device you want on the network and the other end into the module. Plug the module in. Press the small square button on the module then press the same button on the module connected to your network source. A light will flash on each while pairing. When the light goes out, you will see similar activity lights on the new module showing the are paired and the network works. Repeat this process for each additional module you want connected.Performance is hard to test from a camera since they are not high bitrate devices, but I am able to sustain 1MByte streams from 4 devices simultaneously and reliably. That is what I bought them for an I could not be happier.I also run a complicated Insteon Powerline automation network in my house and found these adapters do not cause a problem. Insteon commands are just as reliable as ever and do not seem to affect network performance. The same can be said for network utilization not impacting my Insteon devices. If you want a quick, simple and reasonably priced method to create or expand your Wired network, look no further. These are great.

getting a good wi-fi signal for streaming Amazon Prime movies was a …
I have a home theater that is in a separate building from the main house. As such, getting a good wi-fi signal for streaming Amazon Prime movies was a real challenge. Even the wi fi extenders with antennas didn’t work. So I read the reviews and decided to give these a try. I’m glad that I did, because they work great! Connection and speed are way better than using the normal wi fi extenders. The only negative thing I have to say is that once in awhile the adapter will lose it’s “pairing” with the home unit, and it can sometimes be difficult to get it to pair again. I did have to call for customer support to get the adapter to pair again. I will say that customer support was excellent! Highly recommended.

… once the furniture was back in, I realized that not all of the wall jacks were in the most convenient places. These have worked incredibly well, and have helped me to get rid of the spaghetti of wires that I had running all over the house. Plug-and-play… no configuration needed. Everything has worked right out of the box.

Works like a charm. I find most folks skeptical about these devices but I find they “work simply and simply work”. There is nothing scary or spooky – just plug in a enjoy a good solid connection without running wire everywhere.
