Customers say
Customers like the performance, mounting, and value of the network switch. For example, they mention it’s working well, it’ll mount in a standard bracket, and it’d be a good product for the price. Some appreciate ease of setup, noise, and quality. That said, opinions are mixed on connectivity and ports.

Really nice 10 Gb switch for a home lab or small business environment.
For the money its pretty hard to beat this switch if you need something for 10Gb connectivity. The cost per port is dirt cheap. Pair it with some cheap twinax cabling and you got a very cost effective 10 Gb network. This switch is fully managed which can be hard to find at this price point. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that it has a “Cisco-like” CLI and have a decent web interface as well. Warranty seems pretty good and the documentation is actually very good. The CLI manual was over a 1000 pages. Who would think anyone would write that kind of manual for a ~$200 switch. If I have one complaint about this switch it would be that it doesnt include an out-of-band ethernet-based management port on it. I would definitely recommend this switch to any business who wasn’t concerned about buying Cisco or some other expensive big brand networking gear. For a home lab its pretty hard to touch this switch in terms of costs, ports, and speed. I use it to connect up my home lab servers and NAS that have SFP+ ports on them.

Nice and quiet network switch.
First time trying a TP Link network rack switch. It went together really easy putting on the rack ears and mounted just fine. It runs 24/7 and has not given any issues. I like that it is fanless. It replaced a switch with a fan that had gotten really noisy and was only a 10/100. This with the shielded gigabit ports has really increased the network speed which was really needed.

Best value for a basic unmanaged switch
I’ve been building and maintaining enterprise, SoHo, and residential networks for over 15 years. I used to think of TP-LINK as a low quality brand, but I have used their gear for low-budget installations many, many times over the years. I recently returned to service a professionally installed home network I had set up many years ago. The network terminates in an outdoor “shed” where a patch panel and a TP-LINK switch live, as well as some other networking gear. The structure is not climate controlled, so temperature and humidity are all over the place throughout the day and throughout the seasons. 5 years in those conditions and the TP-LINK switch was still just humming along, never had a single issue. That experience showed me that this company makes quality networking gear at excellent prices. Now I don’t hesitate to buy TP-LINK switches when I need an unmanaged solution, and in the past 3 months I have done two installations using this model. It’s a perfect option at a great price when you just need a gigabit switch that you can plug in and connect your nodes to. Very easy, very simple.Don’t bother paying higher prices for other brands if all you need is a basic network switch. TP-LINK will perform just as well, and will last just as long.* Solid build quality.* Excellent performance (I’ve seen these things under very heavy load with no slowdowns on layers 2 or 3.* Great value! One reason to look for a different model is if you plan to add more switches later – this model doesn’t have a fiberoptic port, which is ideal for connecting additional switches.

Great unmanaged switch
This switch is the 16-port unmanaged switch, this works great for my needs for my home network. I get my full one gig going to every port just fine, and I have Cox internet. I have had it for three months and so far, no issues. Definitely recommend for home or small office. Easy to setup, basically just power it on. It has not made any noise at all but I have mine inside my home so those of you using this switch in an attic or somewhere warmer may notice fans running more than mine.

So far so good.
Works as advertised. Brutally fast local data transfers as long as you have the right cabling and no slower hardware to hinder it.

Worked well for me
Put it in a secondary data center network after a failure required replacement, and needed something affordable in a hurry. Was easy to setup and get access. Works great for the price when you need 10GbE SPF+ ports, but not super demanding needs. Didn’t stress test it but it has been pushing everything I’ve thrown at it (1Gbps WAN link). But a few notes to save someone some time….1) it doesn’t auto detect 1G/10G so you need another switch to use temporarily which supports 10 & 1 GbE, if you PC is not 10GbE, do you can access the GUI. It can be done via the USB console cable and CLI, but just plugging into another switch makes it simple.2) if setting up VLANS and don’t want management on some ports, be sure to remove the main VLAN from those ports. Obvious if you do network management but found out less than obvious to do.3) had a lot of difficulty getting link to a Cisco router to come up. It was set for 1Gbps/Full Duplex, like the Cisco interface. Eventually figured out I had to change to auto negotiate for duplex. Immediately came up – in full duplex. LolOnly complaint I have was that I couldn’t find a way to change the Admin GUI to a different VLAN,to avoid using the base VLAN (1). But certainly not a deal breaker for this application.Don’t think I’d put it on a primary role per se, but in our secondary/DR site it provides great cost/ benefit, I think.

Good and inexpensive
Love it!

The hardware version shipped to me was V1 and it has the latest firmware installed (from Jan. 2024) so it’s fairly current. Setting having a USB console interface is nice at it saves trying to find where I put the serial adapter so I wouldn’t lose it. Overall this is the second TL-SX3008F I’ve had and I’ve been happy with both of them.

The equipment works as expected. But, it was offered and sold in Germany, coming with an US power cord.
