Kids who love video games will love this second installment in the new 5-book series about 12-year old Jesse Rigsby and the wild adventures he encounters while trapped inside different video games.
Age Level: 8-12 Grade Level: 3rd and up
After Full Blast, Jesse Rigsby and his friend Eric has sworn off video games. But when Jesse is offered the chance to save his friend Mark, of course he says, “Yes.” Problem is, Jesse is invisible now, sucked into the world of Go Wild—a Pokémon Go–style mobile game. To reach Mark, Jesse’s going to have to shake the Bigfoot chasing him through the school library, survive the velociraptor in the bathroom, and battle the ginormous flame-throwing bat in the cafeteria. Can Jesse stay alive long enough to solve the mystery of what happened to Mark?
With black-and-white illustrations throughout and a cliff hanger at the end of every chapter, this is a great series for kids who think they don’t like to read!

A Sasquatch, a velociraptor, and feral Tribbles⦠Pokemon Go-style
This sequel describes what happened to sixth-grader Jesse, the narrator of the original title to this series, right where that story left off. As before, this is a text novel, seasoned with just a few illustrations. Once again, Jesse has found himself in the eponymous dilemma. Yet I must commend the author for the variation he came up with this time, which pays obvious homage to what was, at one point, a wildly popular augmented-reality game.Three other characters from the prior volume have returned, including one whose fate was left up in the air in Book One, and it was satisfying for me to find Jesse and his companions seeking to resolve that character’s predicament. This volume is relatively brief, action-packed (seemingly more so than the first book), suspenseful, funny, and meant to appeal to late-year elementary-school readers. No need for excessive detail or exact logic; I could fill those in for myself whenever I felt the need arise. The aim is to just have fun with the story. While there was no gross-out element as in the original, one scenario involving a credit card no doubt proved awkward for one character — a bizarrely inventive look at what immersion into virtual reality makes possible. The end turned out to be far more a cliffhanger on this occasion.

Great read aloud for all ages
We loved this series! After book 1, we were hooked! My childrenâs ages range from 10-4 and they all enjoyed this book. We had to read on at the end of each chapter to find out what happened next. Great books!

Good for reluctant reader
Wish I could give 4.5 stars. Book 1 of the series is better than book 2, but itâs still a good read for a reluctant reader who likes video games and books with male leading character. Price was great at only $1 more than the softcover, so why not upgrade.

My 8 year old loves this
We were really struggling to find something my 8 year old boy would like. All our favorites weren’t working for him and he kept telling everyone he hates reading. :(But he is reading this series everyday and actually laughing and sharing about it to his grandparents. Thanks for saving the day! His reading has improved after reading aloud for thirty minutes a day. We’re on the third book in the series now. Even his teachers noted the improvement and had him share about the books to his classmates to get them excited about reading too.

Wow
I bought this for my 7 year old grandson. It was the book that sparked his desire to read for fun because he could imagine himself as the main character. The first book was slow going but he blew through the second book, and just got the third book two days ago and he is half way through it. He is now testing 2 grade levels above the average.

Itâs sortâve like Tron but for kids!
Action packed stories that young gamers will enjoy. Iâm currently reading book 2 of this series with my 4th grader. There are some challenging words but overall its a quick fun read. The chapters are short and there are some pictures in each book. At the end the author included free activities that teach readers about how video games are created.

My grandson has enjoyed book 1 and 2 so far. I’ll have to buy the rest of the books as he reads them.

My grandson loves this series, he has 4 of them now, and I will be buying more. He is 8, and his dad reads it to him, and his dad enjoys it too, so good for both parent and child to enjoy together. So nice when the adult enjoys the story too, and can really get into it.
