Coiled Cables or Bust
Now THIS is a cable. My AKG K245’s came with a straight cable that costs THIRTY DOLLARS to replace, and you will have to replace it if you are anywhere that it might get snagged. After I was on my second replacement and it was going, I was lucky enough to find this after some research. Half the price and double the quality. The connection where the wires are soldered has an unscrewable outer shell just like an instrument cable would, so if the thing _does_ break, you can just fix it, provided you have the tools. But the coil makes that a lot less likely. This cable is nice and durable and deserves your respect. The only problem is the little rubber piece that is supposed to sit in the screwable metal connector piece keeps falling out, so a tiny bit of the wires are exposed where they go into the enclosed connection area. It’s not a big deal, but it makes me a little nervous. If you have AKG headphones, you should have this cable. They’re wrong to not give it to you with some of the “lower end” models, but if you come upon this page and you don’t have one, it’s a sound investment.

Great coiled cord for headphones with mini XLR connection
My new headphones came with a regular cable that easily gets tangled or snagged. I ordered the coiled cable to eliminate those issues. It works great and sounds great.

Cables will fail!
Sometimes cables..cords..fail. In this case the cable unplugs and a replacement is an easy fix rather than a hard wired one. This solved the problem!!

Works (for now) with Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X
The cord that came with my Beyerdynamics gave out recently; I was only getting audio in one ear. I use these headphones on a daily basis, so I needed a replacement ASAP. This cord works great so far (as of March 2024).

Exactly what I needed.
I was starting to have some connection issues with my k702s, and thank goodness it was the cable. This is exactly what I needed to keep my monitors working!

Good cable with one annoying issue…
I’ve been using this with my AKG K240 Studio headphones for about two months now and overall I am pleased with it. The tip and cable seem of good quality and the metal connectors are solid. Audio quality is excellent. My only complaint is that the rubber wrap at the headphone end (pictured) has separated from the metal casing about half a dozen times over the last 2 months leaving the wires underneath exposed. Fixing this is a matter of unscrewing the metal connector, sliding the rubber wrap back up the wire and squeezing it back inside the metal piece (the hard part), then sliding both together into position until you can screw the connector back on. I suspect it happens as a result of either pulling (even gently) on the wire at an angle (it is a short, tightly coiled wire so it gets pressure before the wire even starts to uncoil) or possibly just from a resting position as shown in the 2nd photo. It’s rather annoying but not too difficult to fix; however, I’m afraid one day it will lead to cable failure because of that wire exposure and having to wiggle that area to fix it.

Cable is way too heavy
Cable is way to heavy, there is a constant tug on the side where the cable is attached due to its weight dragging the earpiece down.

Great piece of equipment
I work in radio, so a good pair of headphones is important to me, and part of that is a good headphone cable. This replacement cable fills that bill. As good as the original AKG cable was, part of the insulation cracked, so I bought this cable, and I prefer it to the original non-coiled cable. Sitting at a mixing board, I donât want a super-long cable that I can accidentally run over with my chair. A coiled cable like this one solves that problemâits shorter length is perfect, and thereâs no drop-off in sound quality compared to the original cable.
