It works, no instructions needed apparently
I was trying to figure out how this dongle worked if I were to purchase it for my new T57W. The manual for the T57W doesnât have any instructions, so I looked up the manual for the USB dongle⦠again, no instructions. Also, would this work with one of 3 options of cordless handsets I was looking at, and if so.. how would I configure each handset.Yealink documentation is trash, so I contacted their customer support and submit a ticket. I asked, âdoes this work withâ¦â and âcan you provide installation instructions or manualâ. After several days, they replied back, âyes it works, here is the link to the productââ¦. jeez, thanks.. so.. I bought everything I needed anyway including 3x W59R handsets. When it arrived, not to my surprise, there were no new/additional instructions. I decided to pop the USB into the back side of the phone and on the screen popped up a configuration dialog and bam, it was installed. Wow, that was easy. Okay, so how do I pair the cordless phones? I went into the menu on the main corded phone, found the DECT menu and it was pretty much self explanatory. Pressed the pair button, then the pair button on the cordless and it works!Youâll need to log into the web server for the corded base to configure how each cordless makes and receives calls, but I think their menu system is straightforward enough that after a bit of tinkering, most people can figure it out.Everything works perfect. I have all the handsets configured to ring when the main extension is called. If someone is on the corded phone and another person calls, the call rings right over to all the other available handsets. Call quality is good. I use this system in a 7300 sq ft shop and there are no quality issues when talking on the cordless handsets when across the shop.

Does not appear to be compatible with T54S desk phone
I bought this item on the basis of 2 answers here which said it would add DECT capabilities to my T54S desk phone. This information appears to be incorrect, if I connect the dongle to the phone’s USB port, all I get is “unrecognised USB device”. Looking at release notes on the Yealink website, it appears firmware v84 is required for this dongle to work on T4X phones, and firmware v85 for T5X phones. There is no v85 firmware available (yet ?) for the T54S.

Could not find confirmed compatibility between our T54W Base and this adapter/cordless handset, and Yealink’s manuals are seriously lacking. Thought would give it a shot anyway. After a little fumbling around, again manufacturers instructions are awful, I was able to connect and all works fine.
